The figure comes from a PerthNow report published February 4, 2024; it should not be read as a current 2026 view or follower count.
What happened at Doubleview Vet Centre?
Doubleview Vet Centre, whose official address is 177 Scarborough Beach Road in Scarborough, Western Australia, created the TikTok account @doubleviewvet. The practice began posting behind-the-scenes footage of what happens after owners leave their animals at the clinic.
By the time of the February 4, 2024 report, the clinic said the page had been running for almost a year, had about 37,000 followers and had collected more than 700,000 likes. Those are historical figures from that report, not verified current metrics.
The account was described as a mixture of affectionate pet clips, veterinary education and confronting clinical footage. The reported reach was large enough to qualify as a genuine viral success story, although the available reporting does not establish how the account performs today.

PerthNow reported that a dog-intubation video reached approximately 18 million views and that ear-plucking videos reached about 10 million. The clinic also said other clips approached 20 million views. These numbers were reported claims at the time, rather than independently audited TikTok analytics.
Why did the clinic start posting?
Veterinarian and practice owner Dr Natalie Rogerson told PerthNow that she saw a gap in Perth veterinary social-media content. The initial goal was not presented as a conventional advertising campaign. Instead, the clinic wanted owners to see that their pets were being comforted, cared for and monitored while away from them.
Rogerson said the account later became useful to the public and to veterinary professionals. That explains the clinic’s stated motivation; it does not prove why TikTok users shared particular videos or why the platform distributed them so widely.

Why can veterinary procedures attract millions of views?
The available report does not provide an algorithmic explanation, but several features make the clips unusually compelling:
- Hidden work: most owners never see intubation, catheter placement or recovery-room routines.
- Emotional stakes: viewers already care about animals, so technical scenes involve a familiar patient rather than an abstract diagram.
- Visual novelty: instruments, tubes and close-up procedures are unfamiliar to many people.
- Useful curiosity: a short clip can answer what happens during a procedure without requiring a textbook.
- Contrast: affectionate pet footage beside clinical work creates a strong short-form-video hook.
Those are reasonable explanations, not evidence that TikTok promoted the account for any particular reason. Viral reach also does not mean every upload performed well or that attention translated into permanent audience growth.
From entertainment to education
For pet owners, a calm view of anaesthesia or post-operative care can make an unfamiliar visit less mysterious. For veterinary students and nurses, real footage may provide a useful visual supplement to formal teaching.
A TikTok remains a brief, edited view of one animal and one clinical context. It cannot show the full examination, patient history, consent discussion, risk assessment or monitoring record. Owners should not attempt intubation, injections, catheter placement or other procedures because they have seen them online. A procedure appropriate for one patient may be dangerous for another; medical concerns require a veterinarian or emergency clinic.

What did the practice gain?
Rogerson told PerthNow that the account brought recognition beyond the clinic’s immediate area. She said people discovered the practice through TikTok and that some job applicants mentioned the videos. She also described other veterinary clinics recognising Doubleview staff when they contacted them about mutual patients or medical histories.
Rogerson linked that professional visibility to viewers seeing the centre’s anaesthetic monitoring and standards of care. That is her interpretation, not an independent audit. The available reporting does not establish increased revenue, bookings, patient numbers or clinical outcomes caused by TikTok.
Who runs Doubleview Vet Centre?
PerthNow reported that Dr Natalie Rogerson, Dr Francesca Harold and Dr Kate Buffin became owners in 2022, after the death of previous owner Dr Karen Bomford. The clinic’s current website presents Rogerson, Harold and Buffin as its practice doctors and describes the centre as proudly privately owned.
The ownership history places the TikTok story within an established local practice rather than a social-media-only business. It also provides context for why the account shows routine clinical work, not just promotional pet images.

Publishing real patient care creates responsibilities that a viral view count cannot answer. The available reporting does not establish the clinic’s detailed filming, consent or approval policy, so it would be wrong to assume either that safeguards were absent or that every case followed the same process.
Questions a responsible account should address
- Did the owner consent before an identifiable animal or case was posted?
- Were names, microchip numbers, records and recognisable backgrounds removed?
- Were staff comfortable appearing on camera?
- Were graphic scenes clearly labelled or edited for general audiences?
- Did captions explain the procedure’s purpose and limits rather than invite self-treatment?
TikTok’s privacy and security guidelines and rules on sensitive and mature themes are relevant because public posts can travel beyond the original audience. TikTok also provides privacy tools and community controls, although settings can vary by region and app version. Educational or documentary animal-welfare material may be allowed, but graphic presentation and personal privacy still matter.

How to read the “viral” label accurately
Calling the account viral is justified by the reported millions of views compared with a local clinic’s customer base. The label should be bounded by the evidence:
- The strongest numbers belong to the February 4, 2024 news report.
- The account’s current follower, like and view totals have not been verified here.
- Reported recruitment and professional recognition are clinic statements, not measured business results.
- A video demonstrates what was filmed; it does not by itself prove consistently superior clinical care.
Doubleview’s unusual success came from making an ordinarily invisible part of pet ownership visible. That approach can reassure, teach and build recognition, while still requiring the same consent, welfare, privacy and medical-context standards expected of any healthcare provider publishing real patient care online.
Frequently Asked Questions

The 37,000-follower figure was reported by PerthNow on February 4, 2024. It is not a verified current 2026 count.
Can I use a Doubleview Vet Centre video to treat my pet?
No. Short videos do not contain an individual examination or treatment plan. Contact a veterinarian, or an emergency clinic when appropriate, rather than attempting a procedure shown online.
