On many Samsung refrigerators, press and hold Ice Maker Off or Ice Maker for about three seconds, then check that the off indicator appears. The exact control varies by model: some use a touch toggle, navigation menu, Family Hub settings, or separate controls for dual ice makers. Use the steps for your panel and confirm them in the manual for your refrigerator’s model.
Find the ice-maker control for your model
Look for a control labeled Ice Maker Off, Ice Off, or Ice Maker. Other Samsung refrigerators use a touch icon, navigation-button menu, or Family Hub settings. The labels and steps are not interchangeable across every model. Samsung’s regional support instructions and your model’s user manual are the best references when the panel differs.

Turn off ice production
- Locate the ice-maker control on the refrigerator’s panel or display.
- On models with a dedicated Ice Maker Off or Ice Maker button, press and hold it for about three seconds.
- Check for the off indicator. If your refrigerator uses a touch toggle, menu, or Family Hub, follow the model-specific on-screen steps instead of assuming the three-second hold applies.
Samsung explains: “When the ice maker is turned off, ice making is disabled even if you press the Cubed Ice or Crushed Ice buttons on the dispenser panel.”
Empty the bucket and handle it carefully
If you plan to leave ice production off, empty the ice bucket; Samsung notes that leftover cubes can clump together. To remove the bucket, support its bottom and side, then lift and pull it straight out. Push it firmly back into place when returning it. The bucket is very cold, so avoid reaching deep inside.

Take care when using the dispenser
For applicable models, holding the dispenser lever for more than five seconds can automatically turn the ice maker back on. Avoid a prolonged press if your intention is to keep ice production off. Samsung UK also advises waiting at least one minute after turning the ice maker off before turning it back on.
Use separate controls on a BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker
The BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker has separate controls for its Cubed Ice and Ice Bites makers. Wake the display, navigate to the maker you want to change, confirm your selection, choose On or Off, and confirm again. You can switch one maker off while leaving the other on.

Samsung lists production of 3 pounds per day for each unit, or 6 pounds total with both on. That figure is specific to the BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker; it should not be applied to other refrigerator models.

Cooling Off, also called Demo or Shop mode, is not the same as switching off only the ice maker. Samsung says this mode disables the refrigerator’s cooling systems, ice making, and water dispenser. The display may show OF OF, O FF, OFF OFF, or scrolling temperature bars. If you see one of these indicators, follow Samsung’s panel-specific instructions to exit Cooling Off mode rather than treating it as an ice-maker setting.
