How Deployment Works in Inquir Compute: From Handler to Invocation History

Inquir Compute’s documented flow connects handler code and metadata to routes or pipeline triggers, provisions functions in a workspace, and exposes execution history for inspection.

Inquir Compute’s documented deployment workflow is to write or select a function, connect it to a gateway route or pipeline trigger, bind required secrets, provision it in a workspace, and inspect its executions. The vendor says workers run in isolated Docker containers and users do not need to manage a Kubernetes manifest for each function; that describes the user-facing workflow, not proof that Kubernetes is absent underneath.

What counts as a deployment?

Inquir Compute describes the deployment unit as handler code plus metadata. The code handles an event; metadata connects that handler to a route, trigger, secret, or other configured resource. For inbound HTTP, gateway routes provide paths and centralized authentication rules. Other functions can be connected to scheduled or event-driven pipelines. Inquir Compute’s deployment guide describes this function-centered model.

The guide says workers run in isolated Docker containers and that developers publish through the product’s UI or API rather than maintaining a Kubernetes manifest for every function. This establishes what users are asked to manage, but does not establish the service’s full underlying infrastructure architecture.

How to deploy a hand-written function

  1. Author the handler. Start from an HTTP-handler or background-worker template, then adapt its code and metadata for the task. The deployment guide’s minimal JavaScript example reads event.path or event.rawPath and returns JSON with a 200 status code; it illustrates event fields, not measured performance or compatibility.
  2. Configure its entry point and dependencies. Connect the function to a gateway route for inbound HTTP or to an appropriate pipeline trigger. Bind required secrets in the product rather than placing them in Git. For HTTP endpoints, the guide describes gateway-level authentication and path rules.
  3. Provision and inspect executions. Publish the configured function to the workspace, then use execution history to review invocations, logs, and timing. These records can help investigate behavior, but the reviewed documentation does not specify how long records are retained.

The guide does not give a single universal sequence of button labels or a detailed rollback procedure; the steps above describe the documented deployment model, not a tested walkthrough of a particular account.

What changes when you start from a Marketplace template?

The Marketplace flow adds guided setup around provisioning. A template can create one function, a stack of functions and routes, or a bundle that includes functions and scheduled or event-driven pipelines. Listings are intended to summarize the resources and required secrets before setup.

  1. Authenticate and choose the workspace where the resources should be created.
  2. Enter the template’s required secrets and validate the configuration.
  3. Run provisioning, then inspect the created functions, gateway routes, and scheduled pipelines in the IDE or Executions.
  4. Edit and redeploy provisioned functions as you would other functions in the workspace.

The Marketplace page associates its official templates with Node.js 22, Python 3.12, and Go 1.22 conventions. Those are version details stated on that page, last updated June 28, 2026; they do not establish every runtime version or platform limit. Check current documentation for the runtime relevant to a deployment. The catalog is described there as curated and admin-only, with public self-publishing unavailable at the time of the page. See Inquir Compute’s Marketplace page.

Is this approach a fit for your workload?

The vendor positions the workflow for stateless handlers with explicit inputs and outputs, including HTTP routes, scheduled jobs, and asynchronous background work. It can suit a team that wants a structured function deployment surface without taking on cluster operations as part of each deployment.

Teams already organized around cluster-wide policy engines or custom resource definitions may prefer their existing cluster interface. The practical choice is about operational control: whether the work fits request, schedule, and asynchronous triggers, and whether the team wants function-level deployment or direct cluster configuration. The cited pages provide no neutral comparison of deployment speed, reliability, or cost across providers.

What the documentation does not establish

  • “Without Kubernetes” means users are not asked to manage Kubernetes manifests for each function; it does not prove Kubernetes is never used underneath.
  • The pages describe invocation logs and timing, but do not establish log-retention duration, service-level guarantees, retry mechanics, or rollback behavior.
  • The reviewed pages do not provide an independently verified security audit or formal SLA. Treat security and reliability statements as vendor descriptions, not independent verification.

For Marketplace templates, the vendor also advises documenting environment-specific values, data flows, and operational runbooks. A template can provision resources, but that does not replace documenting how a particular deployment is configured and operated.
