Yui’s free Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Seamless Co-op mod is designed to keep a group together through the campaign instead of ending co-op after deaths, boss victories, or area transitions. The creator says one host can play with up to five guests. It is a PC mod for the 64-bit Scholar edition—not the original 32-bit game or console versions—and was still in alpha when version 0.0.5 was released on October 4, 2026.
What Seamless Co-op changes
In standard play, cooperative sessions are shaped by summoning rules and can be interrupted by events such as a boss defeat or a player’s death. Yui’s mod aims to remove those breaks, letting a party continue together across more of the game. The mod listing describes this as a way to play from the tutorial through the final boss in one session; that is the author’s stated goal, not an independently verified completion guarantee. The project listing says the mod supports one host and up to five guests.

- A player’s death returns them to their world at the last bonfire they rested at rather than ending the session.
- Boss victories and area clears do not send co-operators home, and fog barriers are removed.
- Dialogue and talk events synchronize between players.
- Resting at a bonfire resets world state for everyone, while progress made online also advances each player’s own world.
These shared-world features make the mod more than a way to avoid resummoning: actions taken during a session can affect each participant’s progression. The listing also describes restrictions while a boss fight is active and optional death penalties, so uninterrupted co-op does not mean every normal game rule disappears.

Alpha status and known problems
Yui announced the mod on September 22, 2026, describing it as live while cautioning that it was in alpha and inviting feedback and bug reports. The creator wrote, “This is a post letting you know that the Dark Souls II: Seamless Co-op mod is now live!” The release announcement lists enemy desynchronization after a player dies and occasional desynchronization involving Velstadt and Sinh as known issues.

The GitHub releases page lists version 0.0.5, released October 4, 2026. Its notes say it fixed incorrect soul-memory tracking that could make the Shrine of Winter impassable, along with a problem that could make items in unexplored guest-player zones invisible. Those fixes do not establish that all synchronization or progression bugs are resolved.
Difficulty, invasions, and achievements
Co-op changes the challenge
The mod author acknowledges that playing with a group makes the game easier and offers configurable scaling for enemies and bosses. Consider the scaling options if your group wants a tougher run; the available information does not establish a single setting that recreates solo difficulty for every party size.

The mod listing says Steam achievements are available while using Seamless Co-op.

Keep mod and vanilla saves separate
Seamless Co-op uses .co2 saves, while the unmodified game uses .sl2 saves. The author warns that moving a mod save into the vanilla game may result in a ban. The listing describes copying a vanilla save and renaming the copy as one possible way to start with existing progress, but do not treat that as risk-free: follow the current project instructions and keep the original save untouched.
What the ban warning means
The author says the mod prevents connections to FromSoftware matchmaking and uses a separate save type. The project FAQ answers “Can this ban me?” with “No,” but separately warns that transferring a mod save to the vanilla game may result in a ban. That is the author’s assurance about the mod, not a guarantee covering every modification, save-handling choice, or platform policy. Keeping modded play and saves separate from vanilla is the cautious approach.
Quick Recap
Is it a good fit for your group?
- Consider it if your group wants to stay together through deaths, boss clears, and area transitions rather than repeatedly restarting co-op sessions.
- Wait or proceed carefully if you need a stable, bug-free run or rely on other gameplay mods; this release is alpha, and other-mod compatibility is untested.
- Plan for a different balance if your group wants the original solo challenge; enemy and boss scaling is configurable, but co-op changes the difficulty.
