Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsBurning Sword: Death Sun combines dodges, parries, strikes, combos and learned techniques in combat its developers describe as timing-focused and unforgiving. Parrying is confirmed as part of the kit, but the official materials do not explain its button, timing window or effect. Other documented systems—including the Power Gauge, Qi and Rebound—show how the broader combat loop works.
What the game says about parrying
The official Steam description lists parrying alongside dodging, striking, combos and acquired techniques. It says combat rewards skill and timing while punishing mistakes harshly. That establishes parrying as one option in a larger combat kit, not a standalone system with published rules.

The October 1, 2026 developer announcement explains several other mechanics but does not give a parry input, timing window, penalty for a failed attempt, or the effect of a successful one. It therefore does not support step-by-step parry instructions or claims that a parry guarantees a counter, interrupts an enemy, or works against every attack. For those specifics, consult the current demo’s tutorial or controls.
How the documented combat systems fit together
Build the Power Gauge, then ignite the Burning Sword
The developer announcement says repeated hits fill the Power Gauge. Once filled, it can be ignited, making each strike hit harder while the effect is active. This is an offensive power-up earned by attacking; the announcement does not state how much damage it adds, how long it lasts, or whether all attacks fill the gauge equally.

Spend Qi carefully
Qi powers skills and ranged Qi blasts. The Steam description also presents it as a scarce resource used to restore vitality and fuel techniques. The developer says that when Qi runs dry, it begins consuming health. No exact costs, recovery rates or health-loss formula are given, so the practical rule supported by the sources is simply to avoid exhausting Qi without a reason.
Qi Drain is a separate forbidden technique that steals life and Qi from enemies, according to the developer announcement. The sources do not specify how much it restores or how often it can be used.

Use Rebound to create an opening
Rebound lets the player launch objects in the arena at enemies to open them up for an attack. It gives the environment a role in offense, but the announcement does not explain the activation method or identify which objects can be used.
Use Qinggong to move through the arena
Qinggong provides traversal options including running up walls and floating through the air. The Steam description also mentions jumping, wall-running and gliding. These details establish mobility as part of the game, but do not specify how it interacts with a particular parry or attack.

How the October 2026 demo structures combat
The developer’s October 1 announcement describes a free demo with light roguelite elements. After the prologue, players reach a hub where they can equip and customize skills at a shrine, and visit a shop whose stock expands through bosses, achievements and unlocks. Fights and rewards are randomized along the route, while exploration areas near bosses contain paths and secrets. The announcement says attempts can support different playstyles while retaining the core combat and difficulty.
An older prologue-demo patch note, version 0.3.1.4 dated June 9, 2025, says a Perfect Dodge could be followed immediately by a Charge Attack. That is a detail for that older build, not confirmation that the same follow-up or input remains in the October 2026 demo.
