Amazon’s Smart Delivery Glasses are a dedicated tool for Delivery Associates (DAs), not a documented consumer smart-glasses product. On a delivery stop, the system is designed to guide a driver from the parked vehicle to the doorstep: it helps locate the right parcel, displays walking directions, and supports scanning and proof-of-delivery tasks. Amazon also describes alerts for address mismatches and possible pets.
How the glasses fit into a delivery
The glasses are one part of Amazon’s delivery workflow, alongside the vehicle, delivery app, route information and geospatial data. Amazon says they activate after a driver safely parks at a delivery location and show relevant delivery information in the wearer’s field of view. The sequence then moves from the vehicle to the customer’s address.

- Park and activate: After a safe stop, the glasses activate and display information for the delivery.
- Find the parcel: The system helps the DA identify the package for the next address inside the vehicle.
- Walk to the destination: A heads-up display provides walking directions based on Amazon geospatial technology. Amazon says the directions are intended to help with exact locations and complex settings such as apartment buildings.
- Complete delivery tasks: The DA can scan the package and capture proof of delivery without having to use a phone for those steps.
Amazon’s broader mapping system, Wellspring, contributes location information about places such as parking areas, building entrances, mailrooms and lockers. Amazon says Wellspring learns from delivery trips; it is part of the wider mapping context, not a feature that should be attributed to the glasses alone. The glasses are not described as a replacement for the delivery app or the complete route-planning system. Amazon’s description of the glasses and its overview of delivery technology and Wellspring explain those roles.

What the glasses can do
- Show delivery details and walking directions: Heads-up information is intended to reduce the need to look down at a phone while walking.
- Help identify and scan the package: Amazon describes package-finding guidance and hands-free scanning as part of the workflow.
- Support proof of delivery: The system can capture proof-of-delivery information without requiring the DA to handle a phone for that task.
- Flag a possible address mismatch: Amazon says the glasses can notify the DA in real time if a package appears to have been left at a doorstep that does not match its delivery address.
- Indicate a possible pet: A paw icon and audio alert can appear when delivery data suggests there may be a pet at the stop. This is an alert based on delivery data, not a claim that the glasses independently detect every animal in real time.
- Offer equipment and fit options: Amazon names a vest-worn controller with operational controls, a swappable battery and an emergency button, along with prescription and transitional lens options and a hardware privacy switch. Its September 2026 DSP announcement also names an LED headlamp, hands-free scanning and proactive address verification.
Amazon presents hands-free viewing as a way to keep attention on the surroundings rather than repeatedly switching between a phone, parcel and walking route. That is the design intent; the company’s feature descriptions do not establish a measured reduction in injuries or other safety outcomes.

What Amazon has reported about testing and rollout
Amazon says more than 500 DAs tested the glasses on real routes over 18 months, completing more than 275,000 customer deliveries. The company describes use as voluntary for both Delivery Service Partner (DSP) owners and their teams of DAs.
Amazon’s September 21, 2026 update says it planned to deploy an additional 5,000 devices during 2026 and target more than 20,000 devices by the end of 2027. Amazon’s US Press Center also gives the more-than-20,000 target. These are company-reported field-use figures and deployment plans; the published descriptions do not break down device counts by country, DSP or individual driver.

Amazon also reports that, since 2024, Wellspring identified 202 million parking locations, mapped 2.8 million building entrances and cataloged 85,000 mailrooms and lockers. Those figures describe the broader mapping system, not the glasses or measured results from glasses use.

The available Amazon accounts describe features, field testing and deployment plans, but they do not provide an independent evaluation of the glasses’ effects. In particular, they do not establish how much the system changes delivery speed, safety or accuracy. A DA quoted by Amazon, Kaleb M. of Maddox Logistics Corporation in Omaha, said he felt safer during testing because the information was in his field of view. That is one worker’s testimonial, not a measured general outcome.

Amazon’s published descriptions also do not specify battery duration under defined work conditions, detailed handling or retention practices for captured images and other data, or rollout coverage by location. They do not establish retail availability or compatibility with consumer smart glasses. The privacy switch and proof-of-delivery feature are disclosed, but those details alone do not answer how captured data is stored or retained.

No published information establishes that today’s delivery glasses are a consumer Echo Frames model or that Echo Frames work with Amazon’s delivery workflow. Reuters reported in November 2024, citing unnamed people familiar with development, that Amazon was working on driver glasses with a small embedded display and drawing on Echo Frames. That was reporting about an earlier development phase; Amazon’s September 2026 description is the more current account of the delivery system’s features and plans. Reuters’ November 2024 report, republished by Investing.com, is historical context rather than a guide to present-day compatibility.
