Does Bee record everything, and where does the audio go?
What Amazon says is discarded
Amazon’s stated policy is specific: when Bee captures a conversation, it transcribes the audio in real time and discards the audio without saving it. That means the raw microphone stream is not intended to become a replayable recording in Bee’s normal processing flow.
What can remain after transcription
Discarding audio does not mean that no information is retained. Transcripts, summaries, extracted insights, reminders, and to-dos are separate data products. Those records can be useful later, which is why Bee supports searching conversation takeaways and insights. Amazon says customers can delete their personal data, including transcripts and summaries, at any time.
How Bee Private Compute fits in
Amazon describes Bee Private Compute as a secure, isolated processing environment that neither Amazon nor Bee can access. In practical terms, the service is intended to keep the conversation-derived data separated from ordinary company access while the system generates its outputs. The privacy claim covers the processing environment; it does not remove the need to consider who is speaking around the device or which summaries a user chooses to keep.

The visible controls
Both announced devices have one physical button to turn them on or off and a visible indicator light that is on when Bee is summarizing a conversation. The button is the direct hardware control. The light is a social signal that can tell people nearby that the device is actively summarizing, although Amazon has not published a full timing or brightness specification for it.

Bee Frontier versus Bee Eclipse
Frontier and Eclipse use the same basic Bee concept, but they fit different habits. Amazon has not published a complete side-by-side specification sheet or an independent accuracy test, so the comparison is about form factor and use rather than performance claims.

Choose Frontier if wearing a dedicated device is more convenient than handling a phone. Choose Eclipse if a magnetic phone attachment better matches how you already carry and use your phone. How Bee turns the same conversation into different summaries

That can reduce the manual work of turning a meeting into a task list, but users should check names, dates, quantities, and promises before treating an extracted action as authoritative.
Everyday conversations
For ordinary discussions, the output can be a concise summary, an insight, or a reminder. Bee’s product description also presents searchable conversation takeaways and a system that learns patterns and relationships over time. Searchability is useful when a detail was discussed days earlier; it also makes deletion and account-management controls important because retained summaries can reveal more than a single isolated sentence.
Can Bee create reminders and to-dos?
Yes. Turning conversation into reminders and to-dos is one of Bee’s stated functions. The system can identify an implied or explicit task, such as following up with someone, preparing material, or remembering a date, and present it as an actionable item.

Treat generated tasks as drafts until you verify the responsible person, due date, and wording. Bee’s output is derived from speech recognition and context, so background noise, overlapping speakers, accents, jargon, or an incomplete conversation can produce an incorrect action.

- Choose the form factor: Decide whether the wearable or magnetic phone attachment better fits where you normally have conversations.
- Check the account and region: Before relying on Pro features, confirm the current plan name, price, supported integrations, and availability for your location.
- Explain the device: Tell participants that an ambient AI system is enabled and explain the visible indicator. Follow applicable recording and consent rules.
- Use the button: Press the physical control to turn Bee on or off rather than assuming the device is in the state you expect.
- Watch the indicator: Treat the light as the device’s visible signal that it is summarizing; if the situation is sensitive, turn Bee off.
- Review the output: Check names, dates, numbers, assignments, and deadlines before acting on a summary or suggested to-do.

Privacy questions to settle before using an ambient AI wearable
Are other people’s voices involved?
Usually, yes. A device designed to capture nearby conversation can hear people who did not initiate the interaction with Bee. The raw audio-discard policy addresses storage of the recording, but it does not automatically answer consent questions. Workplace rules, school policies, professional confidentiality obligations, and local recording laws can impose stricter requirements.
Could summaries be more sensitive than recordings?
They can be. A short summary may expose names, health details, financial information, opinions, or relationship information in a form that is easy to search. Decide how long you need those records, use deletion controls, and avoid enabling Bee in conversations where retaining derived notes would be inappropriate.
What should you do when the light is not acceptable?
Turn the device off with its physical button, put it away, or ask participants to continue without it. Do not rely on a participant noticing the indicator on their own; make the device’s status explicit.
Who is each Bee device for?
- Frontier is the better fit when hands-free capture on your person is the priority and wearing a dedicated device is acceptable in your social or work settings.
- Eclipse is the better fit when you prefer a phone-mounted accessory and want the Bee hardware to travel with the phone you already carry.
- Bee Pro is worth evaluating only if you need its expanded summaries, integrations, assistant, templates, desktop access, or suggested tasks and the live regional terms justify the cost.
- Neither is appropriate for a setting where ambient capture or retaining conversation-derived notes conflicts with consent, confidentiality, or policy requirements.
