HostPapa offers email in two different ways: dedicated Business Email plans sold per user, and email accounts bundled with some web-hosting plans. The dedicated plans provide domain-based email with standard mail-client support, but their listed mailbox storage and daily sending limits are modest compared with the Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 options HostPapa also lists. Which arrangement makes sense depends first on whether you need standalone mailboxes or already have a HostPapa hosting plan.
HostPapa’s two email options are not the same product
Dedicated Business Email
HostPapa sells Basic Email and Advanced Email as per-user plans. They are intended for domain-based business email and can be used without registering the domain at HostPapa. The provider says the service supports IMAP, POP, and SMTP, so it works with standard clients such as Outlook, Apple Mail, and Thunderbird. HostPapa’s email overview displays Basic Email at $1.00 per user per month and Advanced Email at $2.00 per user per month; these are page-displayed starting figures, not a complete regional or renewal-price schedule. Check the checkout offer, billing term, taxes, and renewal price for your location before ordering.

Email bundled with web hosting
Some shared-hosting plans include cPanel email accounts. Those accounts have plan-level address, storage, attachment, connection, and sending limits. They are not simply the dedicated Business Email plans at a different price. If you already host a site with HostPapa, identify the exact hosting plan and its generation before assuming what email is included.
What the dedicated plans include
HostPapa lists the following mailbox storage for its dedicated plans. The provider also describes shared contacts, calendars, task management, configurable spam filters and sender lists, and secondary verification for suspicious logins. Treat those security descriptions as vendor-stated features, not independent audit results. HostPapa’s Business Email page also advertises free migration from legacy email; that offer does not establish that every migration will be interruption-free.

Prices are those displayed on HostPapa’s overview page accessed in 2026; storage, sending, and attachment figures are provider-published specifications, with the comparison limits listed by HostPapa Support on September 10, 2026. They are not independent test results. Check the subscribed product and current plan details before relying on a quota, because products and limits can change. HostPapa positions Basic for smaller groups that mainly work at desktop computers and use few mobile devices. Advanced is aimed at teams with more people on the go who want mail synchronized across devices. The published specifications establish a storage difference, but do not establish email uptime, deliverability, or measured customer support outcomes.

How bundled hosting email limits differ
Current Essentials-family hosting plans
HostPapa’s published figures for Essentials, Growth, Premium, and Elite shared-hosting plans distinguish total email storage from the per-mailbox cap:
| Hosting plan | Email addresses | Total email storage | Mailbox cap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | 2 | 2 GB | 1 GB |
| Growth | 10 | 5 GB | 1 GB |
| Premium | 40 | 10 GB | 2 GB |
| Elite | Unlimited | 20 GB | 2 GB |
For these plans, HostPapa lists 20 MB attachments and 25 concurrent IMAP connections per mailbox. Its support article gives a default sending threshold of 50 messages per address per hour; higher hourly thresholds vary by plan, and increases may be requested subject to the plan and fair-use rules. HostPapa says shared-hosting email must not be used for mass mailing or newsletters. See HostPapa Support’s shared-hosting email limits (September 10, 2026).
Legacy Starter, Business, and Business Pro hosting plans
Older hosting plans have different quotas: Starter and Business list 500 MB per mailbox, while Business Pro lists 1 GB. The legacy limits include 10 MB attachments and five simultaneous IMAP connections. HostPapa states that sending defaults to 50 messages per hour, with increases requestable up to 250 per hour subject to fair use. These figures apply to the legacy plans, not the Essentials-family table above. Confirm the plan name in your account before applying either set of limits. Pros and cons of HostPapa Business Email
Potential advantages
- Domain email can be configured with standard IMAP, POP, and SMTP clients, rather than requiring a proprietary desktop app.
- The per-user prices displayed for Basic and Advanced are low starting figures for teams with modest storage needs.
- HostPapa describes shared contacts, calendars, task management, spam controls, and secondary verification as included features.
- The service is not limited to domains registered at HostPapa, and the product page states that a 30-day satisfaction guarantee applies, excluding domain fees. Review the current guarantee terms before purchase.
Potential drawbacks
- Basic’s 1 GB and Advanced’s 5 GB per mailbox are substantially below the 30 GB and 50 GB options in HostPapa’s listed productivity-suite comparison.
- Both dedicated HostPapa plans are listed at 500 outbound emails per day, less headroom than the comparison figures for the productivity-suite options.
- HostPapa’s displayed prices do not by themselves establish the price you will pay in your region over a chosen billing term or at renewal.
- The published specifications do not establish measured reliability, deliverability, or independent security performance for the email service.
Who should consider each option?
Basic Email
Basic is a plausible fit for a small team that mainly checks email on desktop clients, needs a custom domain, and can work within 1 GB per mailbox and the published sending limit. It is less compelling when users store large attachments or need substantial mailbox history.
Rank #4
Advanced Email
Advanced is the more natural dedicated option for mobile-heavy teams that want the larger listed mailbox and device synchronization. Its 5 GB per mailbox remains a constraint for users who retain years of mail or large files.
Recommended Free Tools
Bundled cPanel email
Bundled email may suit a website owner who needs a small number of straightforward addresses alongside hosting. First check the account’s exact plan quotas, total storage, mailbox cap, and sending restrictions. “Unlimited” addresses on a plan do not mean unlimited storage or unrestricted sending.
Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
The alternatives HostPapa lists are worth comparing when a team needs more mailbox space, higher stated sending ceilings, or integrated collaboration applications. Compare total cost by multiplying the per-user price by the number of users and accounting for billing term, renewal, region, and taxes; then verify the exact quotas for the product and subscription being offered.
Is HostPapa email hosting any good?
On published features alone, HostPapa’s dedicated email is a straightforward choice for domain mail and common email clients when storage and sending needs are modest. It is not a like-for-like replacement for a full collaboration suite if your team needs larger mailboxes and document or messaging tools. Because no dedicated independent test of Business Email establishes its uptime or deliverability, those outcomes should not be inferred from HostPapa’s web-hosting reviews or product specifications.
