Hostinger vs Porkbun Hosting in 2026: Which Should You Choose?

No universal winner: Hostinger suits beginners who accept long prepayment, Porkbun suits those who fit its WP Cloud limits. Compare real totals and renewals.

Neither provider wins outright. The evidence we have supports a use-case answer, not a universal ranking. Hostinger suits beginners who want a bundle of hosting, site-building tools, backups and support, and who will prepay for a long term. Porkbun suits people who want its WP Cloud-powered WordPress hosting with a domain, or who want a specific hosting type from its wider catalog, and whose site can live within its technical limits.

The prices below are what each provider’s official pages showed on 2026-10-05. They are not guaranteed current quotes, and they are not like-for-like. Compare total prepaid cost, term length, renewal price and technical fit, not headline monthly figures.

The prices side by side, with term and renewal

Hostinger’s monthly figure is the whole plan price divided by the number of months. Its page says all plans are paid upfront. Every Hostinger offer captured here is a 48-month prepayment.

Hostinger Cloud Startup $7.99/month, 48-month term $383.52 $25.99/month (about $311.88/year) Unlimited websites, 100 GB NVMe, daily and on-demand backups, CDN
Porkbun Cloud for WordPress + select domain $30 first year $30 $120/year for hosting, plus domain renewal, which varies by extension WP Cloud environment with a first-year domain

The yearly renewal figures for Hostinger are our arithmetic from its monthly renewal rates. Currency, location, eligibility, taxes and promotions can change the live cart.

What the numbers do and don’t tell you

  • Porkbun’s $30 is a one-year bundle. Hostinger’s $143.52 buys four years. Putting $2.99 next to $30 compares a monthly equivalent to an annual price, so it says little.
  • Once both are renewing, the cited Porkbun bundle ($120/year plus the domain) and Hostinger Premium (about $131.88/year, domain extra after year one) land in the same range. The plans differ in what they include, so this is not a verdict that one is cheaper.
  • Hostinger’s long prepayment locks in the low rate for four years, but it also means a large single payment. Its 30-day money-back guarantee is listed on the Premium offer.

Where Hostinger fits

Hostinger’s page presents a bundle: WordPress and site-building tools, an AI builder, CDN, SSL, backups, a first-year domain and 24/7 support. Features vary by plan, so check the one you are buying.

Backups differ by tier

Premium lists weekly backups. Unlimited lists daily backups. Cloud Startup lists daily and on-demand backups. Don’t assume the cheapest plan has the backup schedule you expect. If you update often, or run a store or a site with frequent edits, weekly backups may not be enough.

Who it suits

  • First-time site owners who want one place for hosting, tools and support.
  • People who are comfortable paying for a long term and will still want the site in year five.
  • Anyone who would rather decide on the renewal price now than be surprised by it later.

Where Porkbun fits

Porkbun is mainly known as a registrar. Its hosting catalog covers WordPress, shared/cPanel, static and PHP options, each with its own storage and price. The WordPress product, Cloud for WordPress, runs on WP Cloud and lists edge, page and object caching, a CDN and 27 data centers. These are Porkbun’s own specifications, not independent test results.

Cloud for WordPress: documented limits

  • PHP 8.2, 8.3, 8.4 and 8.5 are selectable, and new sites start on 8.4.
  • The server runs NGINX. There is no .htaccess file, and you cannot edit php.ini or server configuration.
  • Imagick, ionCube Loader and ZendGuard Loader are unavailable. GD and GraphicsMagick are available.

If you are migrating a site that relies on Apache rewrite rules, custom PHP settings, Imagick or encoded plugins, check these dependencies before you buy. A clean new WordPress install is much less likely to hit them.

Shared hosting and “unmetered”

Porkbun says that “while we want you to be able to host everything you need to make your website a success, this is a shared hosting environment and resource usage must be within reason.” It adds that unmetered does not mean unlimited. Disk space and bandwidth are meant for website files, not archives, personal storage, backups or unrelated files. Read this before putting heavy media libraries or file storage on a shared plan.

Who it suits

  • People who want a first-year domain bundled with WordPress hosting at a low entry cost, and who accept that year two is $120 plus the domain renewal.
  • People already registering domains with Porkbun who want hosting alongside them.
  • Builders who prefer a specific hosting type, such as static or PHP, over an all-in-one beginner suite.

Domain costs are a separate line

Hostinger includes a first-year domain on qualifying plans. Porkbun includes one in select bundles. In both cases, ask which extensions qualify and what year two costs. Porkbun’s domain renewal price varies by extension. Its domain page also says that a name recovered through the Redemption Grace Period carries a $200 restoration fee on top of the normal renewal. That is a domain-registry cost, not a hosting fee, but it is a reason to turn on auto-renew and keep payment details current.

Support

Hostinger lists 24/7 support on its hosting page. Porkbun’s domain page lists phone support daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific, including weekends and holidays. That is domain support information, so confirm which channels and hours apply to the specific hosting product before relying on it.

Speed and reliability: no verified winner

The sources do not include a matched test of the two providers. TechRadar’s 2026 Hostinger review reports a 1.5-second average page load in its own testing context. Its Porkbun coverage focuses on registrar services rather than hosting performance. Porkbun’s performance statements are its own claims. A fair comparison would need comparable plans, the same site, the same location, the same cache state and a long enough measurement period. Until someone publishes that, treat any claim that one is faster as unsupported.

How to decide

  1. Check your site’s requirements. If it depends on Apache config, .htaccess, custom php.ini or Imagick, Porkbun’s Cloud for WordPress is likely out. Hostinger’s page offers no such documented restriction in the sources we have, but confirm with its support.
  2. Decide on commitment. If you won’t prepay four years, Hostinger’s advertised rate is not really yours. Porkbun’s $30 first-year bundle is a lower-risk trial.
  3. Price year two. Write down the renewal for hosting and for the domain extension you want, for both providers.
  4. Match backups to your update rate. Weekly on Hostinger Premium versus daily on higher tiers; for Porkbun, check the chosen plan’s backup and restore policy.
  5. Confirm the live cart. Look at currency, taxes, term and eligibility before paying.

In short: pick Hostinger if you want a beginner-friendly bundle and are fine with a long prepayment; pick Porkbun if you want a cheap first year with a domain, your site fits WP Cloud’s limits, and you accept a $120/year hosting renewal.
