In Hostinger Reach, double opt-in sends a confirmation email after someone signs up through a supported connected form or integration. The contact stays Waiting for opt-in until they click the confirmation button; only then do they become Subscribed and eligible for marketing campaigns and automations. To enable it, connect a working domain, then open Settings → Double opt-in in the Reach dashboard and switch the setting on.
What double opt-in changes in Reach
With single opt-in, a signup becomes subscribed without a confirmation click. With double opt-in, Reach asks the person to confirm their email address first. That extra step can help verify recipient intent and list quality, but it adds friction and does not guarantee better deliverability.

| Setting | What happens after signup | Contact status |
|---|---|---|
| Single opt-in | No confirmation email is required before subscription. | Subscribed |
| Double opt-in | Reach sends an automatic confirmation email; the person must click to confirm. | Waiting for opt-in until confirmed |
Reach’s double opt-in guidance describes the setting as a way to verify new recipients before adding them to a newsletter audience.
How to enable double opt-in
- Connect a working domain. Reach requires one before you can enable and use double opt-in. The domain may be registered with Hostinger or another provider.
- Open the setting. In the Reach dashboard, go to Settings → Double opt-in.
- Switch it on. Reach will send confirmation emails automatically for eligible signups; you do not need to create a separate automation to send the confirmation.
Which contacts receive a confirmation email?
The setting applies to contacts automatically synced from supported sources, including WordPress forms and plugins, Hostinger AI Builder manual-mode forms and eCommerce checkout forms, and public API integrations. A person who signs up through an eligible source first appears as Waiting for opt-in.
#1 Best Overall
It does not apply to contacts entered manually in the Reach dashboard or uploaded from a CSV. Reach treats those additions as cases where consent has already been obtained. That product behavior does not establish that a particular contact list meets all consent requirements; add only people who have explicitly agreed to receive marketing. Reach also supports collection through its lead forms and other documented routes in its contact-management guidance.
What the pending status means
A contact remains Waiting for opt-in until they click Confirm your email in the message. Reach then changes the status to Subscribed. Pending contacts do not receive scheduled newsletters, marketing campaigns, or automations. They must confirm before becoming eligible.
Rank #2
Reach advises removing contacts that have been waiting for three weeks or longer. This is a product recommendation, not a claim that every pending contact will behave the same way.

Reach sends confirmation messages automatically, and those messages do not count toward the monthly email sending limit. The confirmation email body cannot be edited. You can apply your brand details or restore Reach’s default style, change the subject line and sender email, and preview the confirmation page. On the free plan, the confirmation email includes a Reach watermark; a paid plan removes it.
Rank #3
Why a form segment may not appear immediately
Reach creates form-related tags and segments, but with double opt-in enabled, a form segment appears only after the first contact from that form confirms. A segment-triggered automation therefore cannot start until the segment exists and the contact is subscribed. If a new signup is still waiting for confirmation, the missing segment is expected behavior rather than evidence that the form failed.

Choose double opt-in when you want a confirmation click before a contact enters the subscribed audience, accepting that some people may not complete the extra step. Choose single opt-in when immediate subscription is the priority. Neither option replaces the need to obtain valid marketing consent under the rules that apply to your business and location.
Reach’s changelog records the global single- or double-opt-in preference for new contacts as introduced on February 18, 2026, and notes that confirmation emails are excluded from sending limits. Dashboard wording and plan features can change over time.
