Per Hostinger’s Help Center, its Web and Cloud hosting plans don’t support MongoDB. The VPS route is self-managed: Hostinger supplies the server and a quick installer, and you operate the database. If you want someone else to handle operations, MongoDB Atlas is the better comparison. This review is based on Hostinger’s support and product pages and MongoDB’s deployment documentation. I did not run a hands-on test, so it makes no claims about measured speed, uptime or support quality.
Does Hostinger support MongoDB?
Yes, on VPS only. Hostinger’s support guidance says MongoDB needs more system resources, memory or permissions than its Web and Cloud hosting plans provide, and it names VPS as the supported option. If you are on shared-style hosting and hoping to add a MongoDB database, you will need to move to a VPS.

What you get: the setup shortcuts
One-click MongoDB 4 deployment
Hostinger’s MongoDB page advertises a one-click MongoDB 4 installation on a KVM VPS. Check the version before you commit. If your application needs a newer MongoDB release, confirm what the template installs, or plan to install and upgrade MongoDB yourself.
MEVN Stack template
Hostinger also offers a pre-made Ubuntu 22.04 MEVN Stack template (MongoDB, Express, Vue, Node.js) that installs MongoDB automatically. It suits a quick start on a full JavaScript stack.

What these do not change
Both are installation conveniences. Hostinger states that VPS hosting is self-managed, so nothing here amounts to a managed database service. After the installer finishes, you are responsible for patching, user authentication, firewall rules, monitoring, backups and recovery.
VPS plans and pricing
Hostinger’s MongoDB 4 page, as shown on its US site, lists these KVM tiers. The monthly prices are promotional equivalents tied to longer terms, and the renewal prices apply for two years as displayed. They are not durable guarantees. Regional pricing and checkout terms can differ, so confirm at checkout.
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | Disk | Bandwidth | Promo price (per month) | Renewal (per month) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 | 1 | 4 GB | 50 GB NVMe | 4 TB | $6.49 | $11.99 |
| KVM 2 | 2 | 8 GB | 100 GB NVMe | 8 TB | $8.99 | $14.99 |
| KVM 4 | 4 | 16 GB | 200 GB NVMe | 16 TB | $12.99 | $28.99 |
| KVM 8 | 8 | 32 GB | 400 GB NVMe | 32 TB | $25.99 | $49.99 |
These are published resource allocations, not benchmark results. Whether a tier fits depends on your working set, index size and query load. Because MongoDB performs best when its frequently used data and indexes fit in memory, RAM is usually the first number to size against. Leave disk headroom for growth, indexes and local backup copies.
What you must handle yourself
The sources I reviewed don’t establish MongoDB-specific uptime, high-availability, backup retention or restore, security, or support commitments for a Hostinger VPS deployment. Don’t infer them from the installer or from generic hosting features. Treat these as items to verify on your chosen plan and to design for yourself:
Rank #3
- Access control: enable authentication, create least-privilege users, and restrict network access so the database isn’t exposed to the public internet.
- Backups: decide on frequency and retention, store copies off the server, and test a restore before you rely on it.
- Availability: a single VPS is a single point of failure. Redundancy such as a replica set across multiple servers is your own design and cost.
- Maintenance: OS updates, MongoDB upgrades, disk monitoring and alerting are yours to schedule and watch.
- Support scope: check with Hostinger what its support covers on a self-managed VPS before assuming help with database issues.
Hostinger VPS vs MongoDB Atlas
MongoDB describes Atlas as a fully managed service and recommends it when low operational overhead or Atlas-only capabilities are priorities. That is the core split.
| Factor | Hostinger VPS (self-managed) | MongoDB Atlas |
|---|---|---|
| Operations | You patch, secure, monitor, back up and restore. | Managed by MongoDB; you configure the deployment. |
| Availability and recovery | Whatever you build; Hostinger-specific MongoDB values aren’t published in the pages reviewed. | Check the tier you choose for topology and backup options. |
| Features | Standard MongoDB you install (the one-click template is version 4). | Includes capabilities available only on Atlas, as named in MongoDB’s deployment guidance. |
| Cost shape | Fixed, predictable server price after term discounts, plus your time and any extra backup or monitoring. | Managed-service charges that depend on the tier and usage. |
| Control | Full server access and configuration. | Limited to what the service exposes. |
Don’t compare a promotional VPS monthly price with an Atlas estimate unless the workload and term assumptions match. Count renewal price, backup and monitoring costs, and your own engineering hours on the VPS side.

Who should choose Hostinger for MongoDB
- Good fit: developers and small teams comfortable with Linux administration, running side projects, staging environments, internal tools or modest apps where a single server and a tested backup routine are acceptable, and where a fixed server bill matters.
- Good fit: projects that want the database and app on the same server, such as the MEVN template.
- Weaker fit: production systems with strict uptime or recovery targets and no one to run the database, or applications that rely on Atlas-only features. Atlas is the more natural choice there.
- Not possible: Web or Cloud hosting plans, which Hostinger says don’t support MongoDB.
Before you buy
- Estimate data size, index size and growth, then pick a tier with enough RAM and disk.
- Check the MongoDB version the template installs against your driver and feature needs.
- Read the full term price and the renewal price at checkout for your region.
- Plan authentication, firewall rules and off-server backups before you load real data.
- Run a test restore from a backup to confirm your recovery process works.
The Bottom Line
Hostinger is a reasonable, budget-friendly place to run MongoDB if you are willing to administer a VPS yourself. It isn’t a managed NoSQL service, and its published material doesn’t promise MongoDB-specific availability or backups. If you want managed operations, choose Atlas.
