Hostinger supports Java, but only on its VPS plans. Hostinger’s own guidance says Java servlets and JavaServer Pages need root-level installation and configuration, and its Web and Cloud hosting plans do not provide root access. A VPS gives you that access, but it also makes you responsible for the Java runtime, the application server, dependencies, updates, and day-to-day operation. If you are comfortable administering a Linux server, a Hostinger VPS is a workable place to run a Java application. If you expect Hostinger to supply and maintain the Java stack for you, it is the wrong product.
Does Hostinger support Java?
Yes, with a plan restriction. Hostinger’s help article “Is Java Supported at Hostinger?” says that running Java servlets and JSP requires permissions, configuration, and installations that need root access (Hostinger Help Center, “Is Java Supported at Hostinger?”). Its newer guide on supported programming languages and frameworks states the rule more broadly: Java and other technologies that require root access are supported exclusively on VPS (Hostinger, “Which programming languages and frameworks are supported at Hostinger”).

Keep Java and JavaScript separate in your head. The same language guide describes JavaScript as supported on all plans. The VPS-only restriction applies to Java because Java server software typically needs system-level setup that shared and managed plans do not expose.
Why Web and Cloud plans do not fit Java applications
Hostinger’s Web and Cloud hosting plans do not provide root access. Since Java servlets and JSP depend on system-level installation, Hostinger’s support article points Java users to its VPS plans instead. In practical terms, if your application is a WAR file that needs a servlet container, or any JSP-based site, a Web or Cloud plan is not the intended target.
Root access is the requirement, not a guarantee. It means the VPS allows you to install and configure a Java application. It does not mean that every Java application will run without changes. Compatibility still depends on the Java version your application needs, the operating system you choose, memory and CPU requirements, network setup, the database, any reverse proxy, and how you configure the server.
The Hostinger sources reviewed here do not establish which Java versions are preinstalled, whether a managed Java runtime exists, or whether Hostinger publishes a tested deployment path for specific frameworks. Do not assume any of these. Spring Boot, for example, is a common question, but Hostinger’s Java guidance does not describe a Spring Boot deployment recipe, so you will need to follow the framework’s own deployment documentation on a VPS you set up yourself.
What “self-managed” means on a Hostinger VPS
Hostinger describes its VPS hosting as self-managed. Its VPS overview says the plan gives full administrative access, and its help article on self-managed VPS lists Java and Tomcat among the technologies you can install and manage yourself (Hostinger, VPS hosting overview; Hostinger Help Center, “What is Hostinger VPS hosting?”). Hostinger maintains the physical infrastructure. The software running on the server is your job.

In practice, plan to handle the following yourself:
- Installing and selecting the Java runtime version your application needs, and keeping it patched.
- Installing and configuring the application server, such as Tomcat, and any libraries or system packages the application depends on.
- Operating system and security updates, firewall rules, and service restarts after changes.
- Network configuration, including any reverse proxy, domain setup, and TLS certificates.
- Deploying the application, checking that it starts cleanly after a reboot, and diagnosing failures from logs.
- Confirming that backups cover what you need. Hostinger advertises weekly backups, but the scope and restore process are part of your operational plan.
If that list sounds like work you would rather hand to a provider, a self-managed VPS is the wrong choice regardless of price.
Plans, resources, and what the prices actually mean
Hostinger’s US-dollar VPS plan page, checked October 7, 2026, listed four KVM tiers with the following specifications and prices. Treat the prices as a dated listing rather than a guaranteed checkout amount.
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | NVMe storage | Bandwidth | Listed intro price (monthly) | Listed renewal (monthly) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| KVM 1 | 1 | 4 GB | 50 GB | 4 TB | $6.49 | $11.99 |
| KVM 2 | 2 | 8 GB | 100 GB | 8 TB | $8.99 | $14.99 |
| KVM 4 | 4 | 16 GB | 200 GB | 16 TB | $12.99 | $28.99 |
| KVM 8 | 8 | 32 GB | 400 GB | 32 TB | $25.99 | $49.99 |
The page states that plans are paid upfront and that the displayed monthly rate is the total plan price divided by the term. The renewal figures reflect a two-year term as shown on the listing. Before you buy, confirm the term, any taxes, the renewal amount, and current promotions at checkout, since prices and offers change. Compare total cost over the term you actually plan to keep the server, not the introductory rate alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe tiers are resource specifications, not benchmarks. The listing does not say how many users, requests, or concurrent Java processes any tier can handle, and no Java workload test is established in the sources reviewed. Choose a tier by measuring your application’s real CPU, memory, disk, and bandwidth needs.
Features Hostinger advertises, and what they do not prove
Hostinger advertises AMD EPYC processors, NVMe storage, 1 Gbps network speed, weekly backups, API access, and one-click deployment for selected operating systems and applications. Its VPS page also says you can choose a server location close to your audience. Hostinger’s help center lists VPS locations across Europe, Asia, North America, and South America, and availability varies by region and changes over time (Hostinger Help Center, “Where Are Hostinger Servers Located?”).

These are vendor claims. They do not establish how fast a Java application will start, how it will behave under sustained load, or what uptime it will achieve. The sources reviewed contain no Java-specific benchmark, independent speed test, uptime figure, or service-level comparison, so treat words like “fast” as marketing rather than measured performance.
Who should choose a Hostinger Java VPS
- Developers who need root access and want to install their own Java version and application server.
- Teams with someone who can run Linux administration, security patching, and deployment without a managed platform.
- Projects where the server location can be chosen from Hostinger’s available regions, and the price fits a self-managed budget.
- Applications whose resource needs are known and can be matched to one of the four listed tiers.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone who wants to run Java on shared Web or Cloud hosting. Hostinger’s guidance rules this out for Java servlets and JSP.
- Teams that want a managed Java runtime, automatic updates, or a provider responsible for the application stack.
- Readers who cannot spend time on server administration, troubleshooting, and restore testing.
- Applications with strict performance or uptime requirements that cannot be verified with your own testing before launch.
How to choose a tier and check it before you commit
Because Hostinger’s specifications do not measure Java performance, use a short evaluation before you rely on a plan:
- Start with the smallest tier that meets your Java version and memory requirements. Note the heap size and CPU your application uses under normal load.
- Measure cold-start time: how long the application takes to become ready after a restart or reboot.
- Run a sustained load test that reflects your expected traffic, and watch CPU, memory, and garbage-collection behavior over time.
- Measure disk I/O if your application writes heavily to disk, and test network latency from the regions where your users are.
- Run a backup restore test. Confirm you can recover the application and its data on a fresh server.
- Test a deployment and restart cycle, including what happens after a failed update.
If the smallest tier passes these checks with headroom, you have a basis for the lower renewal price. If it does not, move up one tier and repeat the tests rather than assuming the next size fixes the problem.

Verdict for 2026
Hostinger is a credible option for Java developers who want VPS-level control at a low listed price and are comfortable running the stack themselves. It is not a managed Java host, and it is not a choice for Web or Cloud plans. Confirm the current VPS prices and the Java guidance on Hostinger’s pages before you buy, because both are volatile.
