Choose its managed Web Apps route to reduce server setup; choose a VPS if you need root access and control over the operating system, runtime, or process manager—and are prepared to maintain them. HostAdvice’s Express test was encouraging, but its app was deliberately minimal, so it does not establish how a database-backed production app will perform.
Does Hostinger support Node.js and Express.js?
Yes. Hostinger’s Express.js hosting page describes deploying projects from GitHub or a ZIP file, with framework detection and build handling. Its Node.js hosting page also advertises deployment from an IDE. Hostinger support says Business web hosting and Cloud plans can deploy Node.js apps; the dashboard is used to select the Node.js version and manage the application.

This managed route is for developers who want Hostinger to handle server setup. It is distinct from VPS hosting, where Hostinger says you manage the operating system, Node.js version, security updates, and process manager yourself. Hostinger’s support guidance also distinguishes Agency hosting for static front ends: it does not run a persistent server-side process, so it is not the right route for an Express server.
How much does Hostinger Express.js hosting cost?
Hostinger’s Express.js page lists the following offers for a 48-month term. Both are prepaid: the advertised monthly rate is the total plan price divided by the number of months, not a month-to-month cancellation price. The page states a 30-day money-back guarantee; that is a refund window, not a free trial. Confirm the current checkout total, region, and refund terms before buying.

| Plan | 48-month offer | Renewal rate | Published inclusions relevant to an app |

| Unlimited (managed) | $3.99/month; $191.52 paid upfront | $16.99/month | Unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe storage, daily backups and restore, CDN, priority 24/7 support, and a free domain and business email for the first year. CPU and RAM figures are not stated on the page. |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99/month; $383.52 paid upfront | $25.99/month | 10 Web Apps, 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe storage, a dedicated IP, priority support, a traffic power boost, and higher database performance and connection limits. |
These are the listed offer and renewal figures, not a promise that the same promotion or plan configuration will remain available. Hostinger says all plans are paid upfront; check the checkout page for the amount charged and the renewal terms applicable to your purchase.
Which plan should you choose?
Choose managed Unlimited for a smaller app with modest resource needs
Unlimited has the lower upfront commitment in this comparison and includes daily backups, restore, CDN, and priority support. The listing does not state CPU or RAM, so do not treat the plan name as evidence of unlimited compute or assume a particular amount of processing capacity. It is a fit when reducing administration matters more than having published resource headroom.

Choose Cloud Startup when its published resources and app slots matter
Cloud Startup is the clearer choice if you need the listed 4 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe, or room for up to 10 Web Apps. Hostinger also lists a dedicated IP, traffic power boost, and higher database performance and connection limits. Those features are a resource step-up, not a guarantee of capacity for a particular workload; the page does not provide an independent production benchmark.
Choose a VPS when you need root-level control
A VPS is the more suitable route if your deployment depends on custom operating-system configuration, a specific runtime or system dependency, or your own process-management workflow. Hostinger describes VPS as providing root access and configuration freedom, but the trade-off is that your team must set up and maintain the server. If you do not need that control, the managed path avoids some of that operational work.

How do you deploy an Express.js app on Hostinger?
For a managed deployment, Hostinger describes connecting a project through GitHub or uploading a ZIP, then managing the application in its dashboard. The exact labels and flow may vary as the interface changes. Before directing live traffic, check the parts of the app and deployment that can cause a successful build to fail at runtime:
- Choose the managed Node.js deployment route and connect the repository or upload the project archive using the current Hostinger dashboard flow.
- Check the selected Node.js version. Confirm it is compatible with your app and dependencies rather than relying on an assumed default.
- Listen on the assigned port. Configure Express to bind to
process.env.PORT, with an appropriate fallback for local development, rather than hard-coding a port for production. - Review build output and environment variables. Verify that required secrets and configuration values are present in the deployed environment and inspect logs for build or startup errors.
- Check CDN behavior and test the deployed architecture. Confirm whether the CDN is enabled and verify routes, database connections, authentication, background work, and expected traffic with your actual app.
These checks are especially worth making because Walter Akolo’s HostAdvice review, updated September 10, 2026, reports that in the reviewer’s setup Hostinger’s default Node version was past end-of-life and its AI support gave incorrect port guidance. Those are observations from that review, not a guarantee about every account or Hostinger’s current defaults; verify the runtime and port behavior in your own deployment.

What do the Express.js performance tests show?
HostAdvice’s direct Express test was a lightweight app test
HostAdvice’s reviewer built a deliberately bare-bones Express server with three routes and a separate CSS file. It had no database, authentication, or build tooling. In that setup, the review reports desktop and mobile performance scores of 100/100. First contentful paint and largest contentful paint were each 0.4 seconds on desktop and 1.2 seconds on mobile; speed index was 1.0 seconds desktop and 1.9 seconds mobile; total blocking time was 0 ms and cumulative layout shift was 0 on both. The reviewer noted that the scores can vary and that the dashboard showed two prior runs.

The same review reports cache-lifetime diagnostic scores of 50 on desktop and mobile; render-blocking requests scored 50 on desktop, with no issue reported on mobile. The reviewer also found that optimization help linked from the dashboard was WordPress-focused. These are observations from that reviewer’s app and diagnostic tools, not general measurements of Hostinger’s infrastructure.

The scope matters more than the headline score: a tiny app without database work cannot show how an API that queries a database, authenticates users, or handles sustained traffic will behave. HostAdvice itself cautions that a larger, database-backed Express app doing real work on every request would be a different test. The figures are useful as an example of one minimal deployment, not a capacity benchmark or a prediction for production.
TechRadar’s shared-hosting results were for WordPress, not Express
As adjacent context only, TechRadar tested a basic WordPress site on Hostinger’s most basic shared-hosting plan. It reported 99.96% uptime over 10 weeks; a 382 ms average response time over the previous seven days, ranging from 171 ms to 1.73 seconds; 878 ms page loading measured from 16 locations in the US and Europe; and 15 requests per second in a k6 test with 20 virtual users. TechRadar says results may differ on VPS, Cloud, and other products. These numbers do not measure Express.js hosting and should not be combined with HostAdvice’s separate test.
Quick Recap
Is Hostinger a good fit for your Express app?
- Good fit: you want GitHub- or ZIP-based managed deployment and do not need to administer the server.
- Consider Cloud Startup: its published CPU, RAM, storage, and Web App allowance match the headroom or app count you need, and the upfront term and renewal are acceptable.
- Consider a VPS instead: you need root access or custom server configuration and have the skills or time to manage updates, security, and process handling.
- Validate before committing a production workload: the available Express test is not a sustained-load test of a representative database-backed app, so test your own architecture and traffic profile.
