Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

HostGator’s shared plans start at $2.75 per month for Hatchling, $3.95 for Baby, and $5.95 for Business as displayed on October 5, 2026. Its price chart lists regular monthly rates of $17.59, $24.19, and $30.79, respectively, and says the selected term is billed upfront. Those figures make the renewal rate and the number of sites you need more useful decision points than the headline discount alone.
Is HostGator worth it?
It can be worth considering if you need shared hosting, prefer a familiar plan ladder, and can choose a tier that matches the number of sites you intend to host. The case is less compelling if you are evaluating it only by its first-term promotional price: HostGator says promotions apply to the initial term and renewals are billed at regular rates. The figures below are the prices shown on HostGator’s official pages accessed October 5, 2026; prices and promotions can change.

This is a review of HostGator’s published plans, terms, and features—not a performance test. The official pages reviewed do not establish independent September or October 2026 measurements of uptime, page speed, or support response times. HostGator displays a 99.9% uptime guarantee and a 45-day money-back guarantee on its shared-hosting page; these are the provider’s stated terms, not observed test results.

HostGator’s shared-hosting page displayed these introductory starting prices on October 5, 2026. The price chart is the stronger reference for regular rates and annual totals. HostGator says the full selected term is billed upfront; its annual total is not a month-to-month price.
| Shared plan | Displayed introductory price per month | Regular monthly rate | Listed one-year regular total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hatchling | $2.75 (HostGator shared-hosting page, accessed October 5, 2026) | $17.59 (HostGator price chart) | $158.27 (HostGator price chart) |
| Baby | $3.95 (HostGator shared-hosting page, accessed October 5, 2026) | $24.19 (HostGator price chart) | $224.27 (HostGator price chart) |
| Business | $5.95 (HostGator shared-hosting page, accessed October 5, 2026) | $30.79 (HostGator price chart) | $290.27 (HostGator price chart) |
The introductory figures are promotional starting prices, not a promise that every term or checkout configuration costs that amount. HostGator’s price chart states, “Pricing Reflects A Discount On The First Invoice Only,” and says, “Upon sign-up, you will be billed upfront for the plan’s full-term selection.” Check the current checkout page for the term, total charge, renewal rate, and any taxes or optional products before paying.
Hosting is not necessarily the only renewal to inspect. HostGator’s price chart says add-ons can renew at their regular prices. If you add backup or security products, check their separate renewal terms alongside the hosting plan. HostGator’s WordPress page also describes a free-domain offer conditional on qualifying 12-, 24-, or 36-month plans; it says the domain renews at its regular rate after the first year. Treat that offer as conditional and verify it at checkout.

Which HostGator shared plan should you choose?
HostGator describes Hatchling as a single-domain plan and Baby and Business as multiple-domain plans. All three advertise one-click WordPress installation, unmetered bandwidth, and SSL. Business additionally lists a Positive SSL upgrade, dedicated IP, and SEO tools. Confirm which items are currently included, optional, or subject to separate renewal when selecting a plan.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Choose Hatchling if you are hosting one domain and do not need the additional features listed for Business.
- Consider Baby if you need to host multiple domains but do not need Business’s listed add-ons.
- Consider Business if you want the plan’s listed Positive SSL upgrade, dedicated IP, or SEO tools, and have checked their present inclusion and renewal terms.
The official plan summary also presents WordPress tiers with different website and SSD storage allowances. HostGator lists 20 websites and 20 GB SSD storage for the entry tier, 50 websites and 50 GB for the middle tier, and 100 websites and 100 GB for the top tier. Those are the figures in HostGator’s comparison summary; check the live plan details for resource and access limits before relying on them for a specific workload.
Is HostGator good for WordPress?
HostGator advertises WordPress hosting with pre-installation, security features, Cloudflare CDN, weekly backups, migration, and 24/7 support. The WordPress page was last modified on February 16, 2023, and contains dated or inconsistent material, so treat it as a feature overview rather than a guarantee that every current plan includes every item. Confirm the selected plan’s current features and terms.
HostGator’s comparison summary distinguishes WordPress tiers by website count and SSD storage, but also notes access and resource limits. A large allowance does not by itself establish how a particular site will perform or whether it can use every resource without restriction. Match the plan to your actual site count, storage needs, and required level of access.

Does HostGator include backups?
Backup coverage depends on account eligibility and server cycles. HostGator’s scheduled-backups article says non-specialized shared-hosting accounts under 20 GB and 100,000 inodes receive daily, weekly, and monthly backups based on server-set cycles. The weekly or monthly copy may overlap with a daily copy, so this does not mean every account receives three distinct restore points at those intervals. HostGator points to CodeGuard for daily automatic backups.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Before relying on a host backup as your only recovery plan, check whether your specific account qualifies, what retention and restore options apply, and whether a separate backup product is needed. Keep an independent copy of important site files and databases if losing them would be costly.

What HostGator plans are available to new customers?
HostGator’s comparison chart says Cloud, Reseller, and Optimized WordPress plans are no longer offered to new signups, while existing customers continue to be supported. Because that chart also contains legacy information, use it for this availability notice rather than assuming every detail on it reflects current terms.
For a new customer choosing among the currently presented shared plans, compare the upfront charge for the selected term, the regular renewal rate, the number of domains or websites allowed, storage, backup coverage, and any separately renewing add-ons. No independent uptime, speed, or support-response figures are established by the official material cited here.
