The HONOR X5d s is an entry-level phone with an unusual extra: a small, touch-enabled display on its back. HONOR says it can help frame selfies with the 50MP rear camera and show call alerts and media controls. South African launch reporting put its recommended price at R2,499, but that dated price is not confirmation of current stock.
What the rear screen does
The rear panel is a working display, not just decoration around the cameras. HONOR says users can frame and take selfies with the rear camera, and use the panel to view call alerts and media playback controls. The manufacturer describes tapping it to autofocus and capture a shot; that is a feature claim, not an independent assessment of focus speed or photo quality. The panel measures 2.01 inches with a 240×296 resolution, according to HONOR’s specifications.

The available product information does not establish which third-party apps the rear-screen controls support or how useful the display is in everyday use. It also does not include independent camera samples or testing, so the rear display’s presence should not be taken as evidence that its photos outperform the phone’s 5MP front camera.

Display claims differ on refresh rate
HONOR’s overview advertises support for refresh rates up to 120Hz, while GSMArena’s launch report specifies 90Hz. These published figures conflict, so neither should be treated as a verified rate in every app or usage mode. The screen’s stated 720×1576 resolution is a separate specification from its refresh rate.

Price and availability depend on country
Kommersant reported on 6 October 2026 that South African sales were scheduled to start on 7 October at a recommended price of R2,499. That is a dated, South Africa-specific launch claim, not a live retailer price or confirmation that the phone is currently in stock. The same report said launch timing for other markets had not been announced. Check local HONOR or retailer listings for current availability and the configuration sold in your country.

The T610, Go edition software and listed memory place the phone’s proposition in the entry-level category; the rear display is its most distinctive documented feature. But specifications alone cannot establish how quickly it performs, how long the battery lasts, or whether the cameras take good photos. The cited launch and product pages provide no independent benchmarks, battery-runtime tests, or camera assessments, and they do not state a software-update commitment.
