Which model is better for your priorities?
Choose Magic9 for a smaller handset
At 6.37 inches, the Magic9 is the smaller-screen choice. HONOR describes it as a compact-screen imaging flagship and lists an 8,000 mAh battery, 80 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging. The company also specifies a dual-200MP rear camera system and CIPA 7.5 stabilization for both cameras. These ratings and capacities do not establish real-world image quality or battery life; HONOR’s launch announcement does not provide independent measurements.

The Pro Max is the more feature-rich option for people who plan to use a phone as part of a video workflow. HONOR lists ARRI CINEMA Mode recording at up to 4K 60 fps, with ARRI LogC3, 10-bit color and ARRI Wide Gamut 3. It also lists 14 preset ARRI Looks and access to an 87-look library. ARRI says selected elements of its Image Science are integrated into capture, color management, real-time preview and finishing. That describes a collaboration and set of tools; it does not show that the phone matches a dedicated cinema camera or beats competitors in independent testing. See ARRI’s collaboration announcement.

HONOR specifies a 200MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture and optical stabilization, alongside a 200MP telephoto with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and optical stabilization. A 50MP ultra-wide camera completes the listed rear-camera setup. On paper, the Pro Max has the stronger stabilization rating—CIPA 8.0 versus the Magic9’s CIPA 7.5—but the figures come from HONOR and are not a substitute for independent comparative camera testing.
Consider the larger screen and battery
The Pro Max’s 6.8-inch LTPO OLED gives it a larger viewing area than the Magic9’s 6.37-inch screen, which may suit framing, editing or watching video better, while making it the less compact choice. HONOR gives the Pro Max an 8,800 mAh typical battery capacity and 8,600 mAh rated capacity, compared with 8,000 mAh for the Magic9. The Pro Max also has higher stated charging rates: 100 W wired and 80 W wireless. These specifications do not tell you how long either phone lasts in daily use or how quickly it charges in particular conditions.

Is the Magic9 Pro Max worth the extra cost?
HONOR lists China starting prices of RMB 4,999 for the Magic9 and RMB 6,499 for the Pro Max—a RMB 1,500 difference at launch. The Pro Max may justify that premium for buyers who will use its larger display, higher stated battery and charging specifications, or ARRI-oriented video controls. If compact size is the priority, or those creator features would go unused, the Magic9 is the more direct fit. These are China-market starting prices, not confirmed prices for other countries.

HONOR’s China launch materials list a series of optional accessories, with announced China prices shown below. These prices are not established for other markets, and compatibility should be confirmed for the exact phone and configuration before buying.

The G200 and G500 teleconverters, photography kit and SmallRig-developed video kit can add to the system cost. HONOR’s China materials discuss these accessories within the Magic9-series lineup; the G200 is also listed in HONOR’s accessory navigation for Magic9. Do not assume every accessory works with both models.
