It is not a sensible buy at near-new-flagship money in 2026. Its Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is aging, a 2022 battery may be worn, regional imports can be difficult to support, and HONOR lists it for quarterly security updates without publishing a definitive end date.
Buy one only when the exact model works on your network, the battery and curved display pass inspection, the required charger is included or priced in, and the low price compensates for uncertain remaining support.
What the HONOR Magic4 Pro is
The HONOR Magic4 Pro launched in 2022 as a premium flagship in HONOR’s Magic range. “Magic4 Pro” and “Magic 4 Pro” refer to the same phone. It sits above the standard Magic4 and Magic4 Lite, and predates the Magic5, Magic6, Magic7 and Magic8 Pro generations. Those newer models generally bring more efficient processors, newer camera processing and a longer support runway.
Configurations vary by market. Storage, colours, firmware, bundled chargers, Google services, network bands and warranty terms can differ between global, European, Chinese and other regional versions. Verify the model number rather than trusting a listing title.

Key specifications
| Component | Magic4 Pro detail | What it means in 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 | Still fast for everyday use and gaming, but less efficient than newer chips. |
| Display | 6.81-inch quad-curved panel, adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO | Smooth scrolling and efficient low-refresh operation; curved glass is costlier to replace. |
| Display features | 1.07 billion colours, DCI-P3, HDR10+, IMAX Enhanced | Some benefits require compatible content and apps. |
| Main camera | 50MP, f/1.8, 1/1.56-inch sensor | Large enough to remain strong in portraits and low light. |
| Ultrawide | 50MP, 122-degree field of view, macro capability | Corrected images may have a narrower effective view. |
| Telephoto | 64MP periscope, 3.5x optical zoom, OIS, up to 100x digital zoom | 3.5x is optical; 100x is digital and should not be treated as equivalent to modern long-range optical detail. |
| Front camera | 12MP, f/2.4, 100-degree view, 4K video, plus 3D depth camera | Useful for group selfies and face-unlock hardware. |
| Battery | 4,600mAh typical; 4,500mAh rated | A used 2022 unit may have significantly less real capacity. |
| Charging | Up to 100W wired; up to 100W wireless with specific HONOR accessories | Maximum speeds depend on the original cable, charger and wireless dock. |
| Durability and security | IP68 rating, ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 3D face unlock | Excellent features for its era, but water resistance declines with age. |
| Connectivity | 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 reported in testing coverage | Actual band and calling support is model- and carrier-specific. |
Display, design and biometrics
The quad-curved 6.81-inch display is one of the phone’s strongest everyday features. LTPO allows an adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rate, while 1920Hz PWM dimming can make low-brightness viewing more comfortable for some users. Rounded edges can, however, introduce glare, accidental touches and expensive edge damage.
The phone is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. HONOR’s controlled test is up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes; that is not a promise of permanent waterproofing. Resistance declines through wear, drops and repairs, and liquid damage may not be covered. Never charge a wet phone.

Ultrasonic fingerprint recognition works through the display, and the separate 3D depth hardware enables face unlock. Test both on a used device rather than assuming they remain reliable after screen replacement.
Camera review
Main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras
The 50MP main camera combines a relatively large sensor with optical stabilisation and is particularly good for people photography and dim scenes. The 50MP ultrawide adds a useful perspective and macro mode. The 64MP periscope provides 3.5x optical framing with OIS; anything labelled 100x is digital zoom.
HONOR also lists 8×8 dToF laser focusing, Magic-Log 10-bit 4K/60fps recording and the ability to capture stills while recording video where supported by software. These are specification features, not guarantees that every regional firmware build exposes every mode.

Portraits, selfies and video
Independent testing found the phone especially convincing for portraits and selfies. The 12MP front camera has a broad 100-degree view and 4K recording, while the depth sensor supports face unlock. Colour balance, sharpening and HDR can vary by firmware, and imported phones may process scenes differently.
Where it falls short
Landscape detail and overall camera flexibility were less consistently impressive than the best competitors of its launch period. High zoom levels become visibly digital, and newer flagships generally deliver steadier processing across several lenses. Before buying, test the ultrawide, telephoto, autofocus, portrait mode, flash, front camera and 4K video. Inspect the camera-cover glass for cracks, dust or haze; a cosmetically clean phone can still have a damaged lens.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 performance remains ample for navigation, social apps, streaming, photography and demanding games. Sustained workloads can eventually cause throttling, and the chip is less efficient than current processors. That matters more in 2026 because every Magic4 Pro battery has already experienced years of charging cycles.

The 4,600mAh figure is the typical capacity; the rated capacity is 4,500mAh. Rapid drain, heat during ordinary use, sudden percentage drops or shutdowns indicate a battery that may need replacement. HONOR’s claimed wired maximum requires the original SuperCharge charger and cable. Wireless charging up to 100W requires a compatible HONOR wireless charger and a 135W adapter; the supplied 100W adapter supports up to 80W wireless output. HONOR’s approximately 50% in 15 minutes result is a laboratory figure, and temperature, battery level, software, cable and device condition change real-world results.
Software and security support in 2026
The phone launched with Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12. HONOR’s current security bulletin lists the Magic4 Pro in its quarterly-update group. HONOR also says eligible models and maintenance periods can change. The bulletin does not state a definitive end date for this phone.
- Quarterly listing is a frequency, not a guaranteed support expiry date.
- It does not confirm eligibility for a particular future Android or MagicOS version.
- Delivery can vary by country, carrier, model number and firmware region.
- Chinese and global firmware may differ in Google services, features and update timing.
That uncertainty is the decisive buying issue. Choose a newer Google, Samsung, Apple or other long-supported model if several more years of predictable security updates are essential.

Google services and imported-phone checks
The global 2022 model supports Google Play and Google services, unlike Huawei phones released under different circumstances after Huawei’s restrictions. An imported listing still needs individual verification. Confirm Play Store certification, banking-app operation, Widevine streaming certification, Android Auto, Google Wallet, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling and eSIM support if required. Do not assume a Chinese-market handset has the same software as a global one.
Regional availability and US risks
The phone was sold in selected European and international markets. HONOR still maintains a UAE product and buying page, but a product page does not prove current stock or local warranty coverage: HONOR UAE buying page.
Android Authority reported that the phone was not officially coming to the United States in 2022. US buyers therefore need to check exact LTE and 5G bands, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling, warranty service, charger plug and repair availability. Current US stock was not established here, so treat marketplace imports as model-specific purchases rather than universally compatible phones.
Used and refurbished inspection checklist
- Confirm the exact model name and model number: Magic4 Pro, not Magic4 or Magic4 Lite.
- Match the IMEI in Settings, on the device and on the box; check that it is not blocked.
- Identify global versus China firmware and verify the installed Android/MagicOS version.
- Open Play Store settings and check Play Protect/device certification.
- Check your carrier’s LTE, 5G, VoLTE and Wi-Fi-calling compatibility for that exact model.
- Test brightness, adaptive refresh, dead pixels, burn-in, curved-edge touch and any green tint.
- Photograph with every rear camera, autofocus, OIS, flash, portrait mode, front camera and 4K video.
- Verify wired fast charging with a genuine or properly certified charger and cable.
- Watch for overheating, rapid drain and inconsistent battery percentages.
- Test ultrasonic fingerprint and 3D face unlock.
- Do not rely on IP68 for an older handset; inspect for liquid or impact damage.
- Check the latest security-patch date and whether updates install normally.
- Ensure Google and HONOR accounts, tracking locks and screen locks are removed by the seller.
- Use a seller with a real return window long enough to test network, camera, battery and software.
Who should buy it?
- Buy when it is heavily discounted or refurbished, with a healthy battery and intact display.
- It suits buyers who prioritise portraits, selfies, fast charging, a high-quality display or strong biometrics.
- Include the cost of the correct wired charger, cable and optional wireless dock in the deal.
- Accept quarterly updates and an unknown remaining support period.
Who should avoid it?
- Anyone paying close to a newer midrange or flagship phone.
- Buyers who need a long, clearly guaranteed security-support window.
- US buyers who cannot confirm carrier bands, calling features and warranty arrangements.
- Anyone considering a Chinese import without verified Google services and payment compatibility.
- Phones with degraded batteries, cracked or burned-in curved displays, dead touch zones or camera faults.
- Listings that omit model number, storage, firmware region, IMEI or a return policy.
Value and alternatives
Launch pricing—about £949 in the UK and roughly €1,099 in Europe—provides historical context only, not a 2026 price target. No reliable current price is established here. Set a simple rule: if the Magic4 Pro approaches the cost of a newer officially supported phone, choose the newer phone instead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor longer software support and dependable carrier compatibility, compare current Google Pixel Pro, Samsung Galaxy S-series and iPhone Pro models. For fast charging and newer silicon, compare current OnePlus, Xiaomi or a newer HONOR Magic Pro. Check live regional prices, warranty terms and exact model availability before choosing; those details change by country and date.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: the HONOR Magic4 Pro remains a capable 2022 flagship with standout portraits, a superb adaptive display, 3D face unlock and exceptionally fast charging. In 2026 it is a conditional bargain, not a safe default: buy only at a genuinely low price after checking battery health, firmware, carrier compatibility, accessories and the seller’s return policy.
