Verdict: The original HONOR Choice true-wireless earbuds were strong value at about €35 in 2020. The Android Headlines review found balanced sound, comfortable tips, usable calls, stable Bluetooth 5.0 and roughly five hours of real-world music playback. In 2026, however, this is a historical product: no ANC, older hardware, limited battery life by current standards and uncertain battery condition make it a poor default purchase unless you find a very cheap, genuine pair with returns.
Which HONOR Choice earbuds does this review cover?
This article concerns the product named simply HONOR Choice in the Android Headlines review published October 13, 2020. HONOR supplied the review unit, and the reviewer used it for approximately two weeks. The roughly €35 price was the launch-era figure, not a current global price.
Do not assume a listing titled “HONOR Choice” is this same model. Later products include the X5, X5 Pro, S7 and X7 Lite, with different Bluetooth versions, battery claims, apps and noise-cancellation features. Check the exact model number before buying.

Design, case and comfort
The reviewer described solid-feeling plastic, a compact pocket-friendly case, magnetic charging contacts and a magnetic lid. Separate LEDs on the case and earbuds indicate status. The earbuds use a relatively short stem and include three silicone-tip sizes.

- [IP54 Water & Dust Resistant + Touch Controls] – Designed for durability, these earbuds withstand sweat and dust, while intuitive touch controls offer effortless music and call management.
Those are hands-on impressions rather than laboratory measurements. Fit still depends on ear shape: a small tip can leak bass, while a large tip may create pressure. The silicone seal supplies passive isolation and can matter more to perceived bass than the AAC-versus-SBC choice.
Practical limitations
- The review does not establish exercise certification, replacement-tip availability or replacement-earbud supply.
- There is no stated IP rating for the original model, so do not treat it as sweat- or rain-resistant.
- A pair manufactured years ago may have degraded cells even if its plastic and case look new.
Sound quality: balanced for its original price
Android Headlines judged the presentation balanced, with clear mids and highs, noticeable but controlled bass and good loudness without an immediate loss of clarity. It supported AAC as well as SBC. That assessment is the reviewer’s listening judgment, not a standardized frequency-response test or proof that it beats every current budget earbud.
AAC does not sound identical on every Android and iPhone combination. Correctly fitted tips and a reliable seal usually have a larger effect on bass and isolation than codec branding alone.
No active noise cancellation
The original HONOR Choice has no ANC. Silicone tips block some external sound passively; microphone processing can help calls, but it is not music-playback ANC. Do not confuse passive isolation, call-noise processing and wind suppression.

Calls and microphone performance
The reviewer found call quality surprisingly good for the price, while still below more expensive HONOR earbuds and less convincing in very noisy surroundings. Two microphones per earbud and digital signal processing were credited for the result.
No standardized microphone measurements were reported. Traffic, wind, crowds, an aged microphone or different firmware can produce worse performance than the original review unit.
Bluetooth, latency and controls
The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.0. During nearly two weeks, the reviewer reported no disconnects and did not consider latency a problem. That experience does not make Bluetooth 5.0 inherently more reliable than newer versions; Bluetooth version alone does not specify range, codec behavior or interference performance.
Touch panels are present on both sides. Double-tapping plays or pauses, while press-and-hold gestures handle call rejection and track navigation. There is no single-tap action, intended to reduce accidental touches. The controls worked but were not especially responsive or refined.

- Titanium arch bridge: the core area uses high-performance titanium alloy material covered with scratch and corrosion resistance PC material. To achieve high strength and lightweight body design.
- Asymmetrical curve, direct sound: Asymmetrical curve with a wide top and a narrow bottom that naturally adapts to the ear cup. Combined with two rear vents to create direct sound waves into the ear. Achieves directional sound transmission and reduces sound leaks.
- Dual magnetic driver, touch the heart: HONOR Choice earbuds clip equipped with a 10.8 mm dual magnet driver feature a PEEK + Pen titanium-coated membrane. Stronger bass, lower distortion, higher sensitivity. The treble is beautiful without being hard, the bass is dynamic yet delicate.
- Lasting listening battery life: HONOR Choice earbuds clip can play a single song for up to 7 hours, which can be extended to 36 hours with a charging case. Enjoy beautiful music from early morning to evening.
- AI call noise cancellation: HONOR Choice earbuds clip is equipped with two highly sensitive microphones, combined with an AI multi-channel call noise cancellation algorithm (DNN), which intelligently filters ambient noise, so that the other side of the call hears crystal clear.
Do not assume gestures can be remapped. Companion-app support for this old model is not established, and firmware behavior can differ on used or regional stock.
Battery life and charging
HONOR advertised up to six hours of music per charge, up to 24 hours including the case, approximately four hours of call time and about three complete earbud recharges from the case. The reviewer confirmed roughly three case recharges but obtained closer to five hours of music playback, with calls mixed into the usage period.
| Claim or observation | What it means |
|---|---|
| Up to 6 hours per charge | HONOR’s original advertised music figure |
| Up to 24 hours total | HONOR’s advertised earbud-plus-case figure |
| About 5 hours | Reviewer’s observed music result, affected by calls and usage |
| About 3 recharges | Reviewer’s confirmation of case endurance |
Volume, codec, calls, temperature and cell age all change runtime. Lithium-ion batteries stored since 2020 may now deliver substantially less. Charging is wired; wireless charging is not included.

Should you buy the original HONOR Choice in 2026?
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| New, genuine stock at a very low price with returns | Potentially worthwhile for basic music, podcasts and calls |
| Used or old warehouse stock | Proceed only if battery condition, authenticity and return rights are clear |
| Price close to newer ANC earbuds | Skip the original |
| You need ANC, long endurance or multipoint | Choose a newer model |
| Listing does not identify an exact model | Do not buy until the model number is verified |
Check before ordering
- Confirm the exact model, seller reputation and warranty region.
- Ask whether the unit is new old stock, refurbished or used.
- Verify that all tips and the charging case are included.
- Use a return policy that covers weak batteries or counterfeit goods.
- Do not treat €35 as a current price; current pricing and US availability are unverified here.
Android and iPhone app considerations
The original review does not establish a dependable iOS companion-app path. Later HONOR Choice models differ by region and app support. In an independent X5 review, iPhone and iPad users could pair the earbuds but could not access the full configuration and firmware-update experience through an official iOS app at that time.
Gadgets 360’s X5 review should not be read as proof that every current Choice model has the same limitation. Before buying, confirm whether HONOR AI Space is available for your phone and region and whether EQ, touch remapping, ANC and firmware updates work without an Android device.
Bottom line
The original HONOR Choice was a credible €35-class earbud in 2020: comfortable, balanced, connected reliably in the reviewer’s use and delivered respectable calls and battery life. It is not “the earbuds to get” by default in 2026. Missing ANC, Bluetooth 5.0, modest endurance, uncertain app support and likely battery aging mean a newer, region-supported model is usually safer. Buy the original only when the price is substantially lower, the model is authentic and the seller offers meaningful returns.
