Before spending Crystals or Supply Cards, check the active banner’s in-game details for its featured items, guarantee counter, drop rates, carryover terms, and any event bonuses. Battlesuit, Equipment, and AstralOp Supplies can have different targets and rules.
What pity means in Honkai Impact 3rd
Pity is a banner-specific guarantee or counter: after a stated number of drops, the Supply promises a particular reward or reward category. The important detail is what the guarantee actually names. A guarantee for an item of a certain rarity is not necessarily a guarantee for the featured item, and a featured-item guarantee does not necessarily promise an entire set.
“Supply” is the umbrella term for different banner types and event offerings. A counter shown for one Supply should be treated as belonging to that Supply unless its own terms say otherwise. Do not assume that progress carries from a Battlesuit Supply to an Equipment Supply, from an event Supply to a later one, or even between two banners of the same general type. The active banner’s details are the authority for its terms.
There is no single pull count that guarantees every desirable reward in the game. A useful reading of any banner starts with four questions: what Supply is this, what exact reward is guaranteed, how many drops trigger that guarantee, and what happens to the counter when the banner ends?
It also helps to distinguish three things that can appear together on a Supply: a featured reward, a lower-rarity or recurring guarantee, and an event milestone bonus. They may use different thresholds and promise different rewards. A single banner can, for example, have a guarantee for a particular featured item as well as a separate recurring guarantee for an item within a rarity category. A milestone that awards Supply Cards is another kind of benefit; it does not change the target of the item guarantee.
How to read an active Supply before spending
Use the information attached to the banner currently shown in your game, rather than a guide or screenshot from an older version. Record the banner name and the exact wording of each guarantee before deciding whether to spend. If the in-game details do not establish a point, do not infer it from another Supply.
- Identify the Supply type and featured items. Confirm whether the banner is for a Battlesuit, Equipment, AstralOp, outfit, or another event reward. Check the featured-item list, not just the banner artwork or headline.
- Find the guarantee target. Determine whether the text promises a featured character, a featured weapon, any item of a particular rarity, or something else. These are different outcomes.
- Read the counter and its starting point. Use the number shown for that banner. Check whether it refers to total drops, drops remaining, or a separate milestone; do not substitute a number remembered from another banner.
- Check carryover explicitly. Look for wording about whether progress persists after the Supply ends and, if so, which subsequent Supply receives it. If the active terms do not say, treat carryover as unconfirmed rather than guaranteed.
- Separate event bonuses from pity. Check whether cards or other rewards are granted at milestones, and whether those rewards apply only to this event or a limited portion of its drops.
- Verify current rates and cost in game. The exact drop rates, available currency options, and price shown can depend on the active Supply and current game details. Do not use an old cost or rate as a substitute.
When reading the counter, pay attention to the wording around it. “Within” a stated number of drops describes the outer threshold for the named guarantee in that notice; “every 10 drops” describes a repeating milestone or guarantee cadence. Those phrases do not necessarily refer to the same reward. Keep the reward and number together in your notes—for example, “featured weapon within 60 Equipment Supply drops” is more informative than writing down “60 pity.”
If the game shows a progress counter, treat it as progress for the Supply it identifies. Before using it in a plan, confirm what event or banner it belongs to, what reward it tracks, and whether the in-game terms say it will persist. A counter by itself does not answer whether the featured item changes, whether progress moves to a later banner, or whether another Supply type can use it.

Official event previews also direct players to in-game announcements for details about version events and bonuses. A dated announcement can explain a particular event, but it is not a standing promise about every later banner. HoYoverse’s v8.1 Update Content Preview, published in 2025, says: “Please follow our in-game announcements for further details on version events and bonuses.” Treat that as a reminder to check the specific event information, not as a pity rule.
What official banner examples show—and what they do not
Official HoYoverse notices provide useful examples of how guarantees can differ. Each figure below belongs to the named Supply and version in that notice. These are dated examples, not a live schedule or a guarantee that every banner currently uses the same terms.
| Official notice | Stated mechanic | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| v8.2 Roving Among Clouds Update Announcement, April 24, 2025 | The featured S-rank battlesuit Peregrine Sword was guaranteed within 90 drops. The first 10 drops were 50% off. | The 90-drop figure was for that featured S-rank Battlesuit Supply. The first-10 discount was an additional term in that notice, not a universal banner feature. |
| v7.8 New S-rank Battlesuit Lone Planetfarer Debuts!, October 5, 2024 | The featured S-rank battlesuit was guaranteed within 90 drops. | This is a second official Battlesuit Supply example, from a different version and date. It does not establish terms for all later or special Supplies. |
| v7.8 New S-rank Battlesuit Lone Planetfarer Debuts!, October 5, 2024 | A 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops; the featured weapon Skyveil Feathers was guaranteed within 60 Equipment Supply drops. | The 10-drop guarantee was for a 4-star equipment item. The separate 60-drop guarantee named the featured weapon. The first does not mean the featured weapon is guaranteed within 10 drops. |
| v9.0 The Light at Dream’s End Update Announcement, August 20, 2026 | AstralOp Senadina was guaranteed within 60 AstralOp Supply drops. | This figure applied to the named AstralOp Supply, not to a Battlesuit or Equipment Supply. |
| v9.0 The Light at Dream’s End Update Announcement, August 20, 2026 | Every 10 drops within the first 60 drops awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, for up to 12 cards. | These were milestone rewards attached to that named AstralOp event. They are distinct from the Senadina guarantee and should not be assumed to accompany other Supplies. |
The first two rows are examples of a featured S-rank battlesuit guarantee, with both official notices stating 90 drops for their respective Supplies. They do not prove a permanent 90-drop rule for every Battlesuit Supply, nor do they establish whether a counter on one banner continues onto another. The v8.2 notice also describes a discount on the first 10 drops. That discount is a cost-related banner term, separate from the guarantee: it should not be confused with receiving the featured battlesuit or with a free set of additional drops.
The Equipment example illustrates why multiple counters can matter at once. The v7.8 notice names a 4-star weapon or stigma within every 10 drops and separately names Skyveil Feathers as guaranteed within 60 Equipment Supply drops. The 10-drop threshold is not a shortcut to the featured weapon. A player comparing those outcomes should ask which target matters most and read the exact qualifying pool and featured list in the current notice.

The v9.0 AstralOp notice also keeps its guarantee and its card rewards distinct. The named AstralOp was guaranteed within 60 drops; separately, every 10 drops in the first 60 awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, adding up to 12 cards across those milestones. The cards were an event bonus associated with that named AstralOp Supply. They are not evidence that every AstralOp banner grants Equipment Supply Cards, and they do not turn the AstralOp guarantee into an equipment guarantee.
The official HoYoverse news index available on October 10, 2026 listed v9.0, announced August 20, 2026, as its latest update. Its announcement describes that version’s events and Supplies; it does not establish which banners are currently active in every game client or what their live terms are on the day you read this. Use the game’s current banner details for that.
Why a 4-star guarantee is not a featured-item guarantee
A rarity guarantee answers, “What minimum rarity will I receive by this point?” A featured-item guarantee answers, “Will I receive this named reward by this point?” Those are not interchangeable. In the v7.8 Equipment Supply example, the stated guarantee of a 4-star weapon or stigma within every 10 drops did not itself promise Skyveil Feathers. The separate featured-weapon guarantee was within 60 Equipment Supply drops.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe same distinction matters when assessing any banner: read the object of the guarantee, not only the number. A guarantee for a weapon or stigma may leave open which eligible item you receive. A guarantee for a named featured weapon is narrower. Likewise, a guarantee for a featured battlesuit does not by itself establish that its equipment is included or guaranteed.
Also distinguish a guaranteed drop from a complete build or set. The cited examples establish specific rewards and thresholds; they do not establish that a player receives every related weapon, stigma, or other item at that threshold. Do not budget on the assumption of a full set unless the active Supply terms explicitly promise it.

A practical comparison table can help prevent a common misread. For each banner, write down the reward category (Battlesuit, Equipment, AstralOp, outfit, or another event offering), the exact target (a rarity, a featured item, or a set), the threshold, any separate milestone rewards, and the stated carryover. If one of those columns cannot be filled from the current banner details, mark it unknown instead of borrowing a term from an older banner. This keeps “a guaranteed drop” from becoming an unsupported promise about the specific item you want.
Does pity carry over to the next banner?
There is no safe blanket answer for all Honkai Impact 3rd Supplies. Carryover is a term of the particular banner, and the examples above do not establish a universal carryover policy. A remaining counter on one Supply should not be treated as progress on another unless the active terms clearly say where it goes and under what conditions.
Before making a decision based on partial progress, look for the banner’s explanation of what happens when it ends. In particular, establish whether the counter continues on a subsequent banner, whether the next banner must be the same Supply type, and whether the named featured reward changes while progress persists. If any of those details are not stated, the outcome is not established by the examples in this guide; rely on the current in-game notice rather than community assumptions.
This is why “Does pity carry over?” is not answered by noting that two banners share a broad label. The terms need to identify the relevant counter and what happens when that particular Supply ends. A Battlesuit example cannot establish Equipment carryover, and an event-specific AstralOp notice cannot establish terms for future AstralOp events. If you are deciding whether to stop or continue based on remaining progress, verify the banner’s own explanation first; if it is not clear, do not treat the progress as portable.
How to plan without assuming a guarantee
Planning should begin with the exact reward you want and the terms that guarantee it—not with a general idea of how many pulls a “banner” takes. The dated examples show why: the official notices gave different thresholds for a featured battlesuit, a featured weapon, a rarity-based equipment reward, and an AstralOp. Those figures cannot be pooled into one universal target.
- For a featured battlesuit: use the counter and target named on the active Battlesuit Supply. The 90-drop guarantees in the v7.8 and v8.2 notices are historical examples, not a substitute for current terms.
- For equipment: separate any recurring rarity guarantee from the threshold for a particular featured weapon. Check whether the listed featured items and guarantee match the item you are seeking.
- For an AstralOp or event reward: read that event Supply’s own guarantee and milestone wording. Do not import battlesuit or equipment thresholds, or event card bonuses, into it.
- For an uncertain carryover rule: do not spend on the assumption that partial progress will be preserved. Confirm the active terms first.
- For cost or pull-rate estimates: use only the current price, currency options, and drop-rate information shown for the live Supply. The dated examples do not establish a current Crystal cost, a universal Supply Card cost, an expected pull count, or a success rate.
To make a comparison without inventing a budget, identify what the banner itself says about the price or currency needed for each drop and note any limited discount or milestone rewards. Then compare that information with your intended reward and the stated guarantee. The v8.2 first-10 discount is a historical example of a banner-specific price term; it cannot be applied to a current Supply unless that Supply says the same. Likewise, the v9.0 card milestones were attached to a particular AstralOp event, not a general rebate rule.
Do not turn a maximum guarantee threshold into an expected number of drops. The official examples establish guarantees within specified counts, not average outcomes, odds of receiving the item earlier, or a universal success rate. If you need to compare outcomes, use the current banner’s published rate information and distinguish it from the guarantee counter. The same caution applies to currency: the named notices do not establish today’s Crystal price or a universal cost for Supply Cards.
This is a way to understand the guarantees, not a recommendation to spend. A guarantee states what the Supply promises under its terms; it does not establish whether using Crystals or cards is worthwhile for an individual player.
Old banner names and conflicting guides
Older guides may use “Expansion Supply” or “Focused Supply.” A community Supplies page describes Expansion becoming Battlesuit Supply and Focused becoming Equipment Supply. That terminology is useful when interpreting older material, but community wiki pages can lag changes. The community wiki’s Focused Supply page is explicitly legacy content, so its Focused A/B counter details should be read as historical rather than current instructions.

When an older guide, community post, or screenshot conflicts with the banner currently in your game, prefer the live in-game Supply description and a current official HoYoverse notice for the same server and event. Differences may reflect retired rules, an earlier version, or a different server schedule. A familiar banner name alone does not prove that its old counter rules still apply.

Next, compare the reward target and the counter wording with the game’s current notice. If the old page describes Focused A/B counters, remember that the community wiki labels that page legacy content; do not apply its counter details to a current Equipment Supply without confirmation. A name change can explain why older advice looks unfamiliar, but it cannot establish that the old mechanics remain active.
What the version examples can tell you
The dated notices demonstrate that guarantees can name different targets and that event bonuses can sit alongside a guarantee without being part of it. They do not establish universal drop rates, average pulls to obtain an item, a current banner lineup, or the rules for every server. The official v8.1 event preview, for example, lists multiple Supply types and directs players to in-game announcements for further event and bonus details; it is not itself a general pity rule.
Keep the version and date attached to every number you encounter. A 90-drop figure from an official v8.2 Battlesuit Supply notice is evidence for that named example, not proof of the active counter in a later version. Likewise, the v9.0 AstralOp guarantee and card milestones describe that event rather than all AstralOp Supplies. The current in-game notice resolves the practical question for the banner you can actually use.
HoYoverse’s v8.1 preview is also useful as a reminder that one version can feature multiple kinds of Supply. A version event calendar is not a substitute for the detailed rules attached to a particular live banner; the preview itself tells players to follow in-game announcements for further details. So use version notices to understand named past examples and use the current client to answer practical questions about the banner available to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does pity work in Honkai Impact 3rd?
Pity is a guarantee or counter attached to a particular Supply. Check the active banner’s details for the reward it guarantees, the number of drops, and any separate rarity guarantee or event milestone. The threshold on one Supply does not automatically establish a rule for another.
Does pity carry over to the next banner?
There is no safe universal answer for every Supply. Check the active banner’s terms for whether progress persists and which subsequent Supply, if any, receives it. Do not assume carryover from a different Supply type or an older banner.
How many pulls do I need to guarantee a battlesuit?
Use the counter shown on the active Battlesuit Supply. HoYoverse’s v7.8 notice from October 5, 2024, and v8.2 notice from April 24, 2025, each gave a 90-drop featured S-rank guarantee for the named banner. Those are dated examples, not proof of the current threshold.
Are character and equipment pity shared?
Do not assume so. Battlesuit and Equipment Supplies are distinct types, and a guarantee or counter belongs to the Supply whose terms state it. Only treat progress as shared or transferable if the active banner’s details explicitly say so.

No. In HoYoverse’s v7.8 Equipment Supply example, a 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 drops, while the separately named featured weapon Skyveil Feathers was guaranteed within 60 Equipment Supply drops. A rarity guarantee is not the same as a featured-item guarantee.

Are the AstralOp card bonuses part of every banner?
No. HoYoverse’s v9.0 notice tied two Equipment Supply Cards to each 10 drops within the first 60 drops of the named AstralOp Supply, for up to 12 cards. That was an event-specific milestone, not a universal Supply bonus.
Where can I find the current pull cost and drop rates?
Check the active Supply’s in-game details for its current rates, currency options, and price. The dated examples in this guide do not establish a universal Crystal cost, Supply Card cost, expected pull count, or success rate.

The Bottom Line
In Honkai Impact 3rd, there is no one pity rule for every Supply. Confirm the active banner’s target, counter, carryover wording, current rates and cost, and event bonuses in game before spending. Official examples—from the 90-drop Battlesuit Supplies in v7.8 and v8.2 to the 60-drop AstralOp Supply in v9.0—show why each guarantee must stay attached to its named banner.
