Those additions do not prove that a newer model will produce better footage in every situation: the right choice depends on the phone or camera, payload, tracking needs, controls and accessories.
What has changed in Hohem stabilizer technology?
Hohem’s catalog spans smartphone gimbals and camera-oriented stabilizers. Its examples use three-axis stabilization, but differ in form and features: foldable phone designs are built around a smartphone clamp, while the MT camera line is designed for larger rigs. Payload, tracking method, remote controls, lights and expansion features vary by model rather than applying across the brand. Hohem’s official catalog lists models including the iSteady V3 Ultra, M7, X3/X3 SE, M6, MT3 Pro, MT3 and MT2.
The practical innovation is therefore not one universal stabilizer upgrade. It is a wider range of ways to frame and follow a subject, with different trade-offs in portability, equipment fit and control.

These are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not independent comparative test results. In particular, Hohem’s broad “any subject” descriptions should be understood as product-page claims, not a guarantee that every subject or filming condition will track reliably.

What do tracking and remote features change?
Tracking depends on the model
The M7’s product page says its on-device AI tracker can follow people and objects using the phone’s native camera, without relying on the phone app. The X3/X3 SE catalog entry instead describes app-based tracking. The standard MT3 page emphasizes human tracking, while the MT3 Pro page claims a wider range of subjects. Do not transfer a Pro feature to the standard MT3 or assume all Hohem gimbals track objects.
Hohem calls the M7 an upgraded on-device tracker that “seamlessly tracks any subject, from person to object.” That is promotional manufacturer wording, not an independent assessment of tracking accuracy or compatibility.

Remotes affect framing and monitoring
A detachable remote can let an operator change framing or monitor a shot away from the handle. Hohem describes the M7 remote as a touchscreen preview remote and the MT3 Pro remote as providing live feed. Those functions are especially relevant for solo filming, but the exact preview, control and connection behavior should be confirmed on the model page and for the intended phone or camera.
How to choose the right Hohem gimbal
- Start with the device and total payload. For a phone, check clamp compatibility and the phone’s weight with any case or accessories. For a camera gimbal, count the camera, lens, cage, monitor, microphone and other mounted equipment against the stated payload. Hohem lists 500 g for the M7 and 2.5 kg for the MT3 Pro; those figures are model-specific, not a guarantee that every rig within the number will balance or fit.
- Match tracking to the subject. Choose based on whether you need people-only tracking, broader object tracking, or app-based control. Verify the individual model’s feature description rather than relying on a brand-wide assumption.
- Decide how you want to control and preview shots. Compare onboard buttons and gestures with detachable remotes and live preview. Remote features can simplify solo framing, but their presence alone does not establish tracking or monitoring performance in every setup.
- Check movement, orientation and rebalancing. Confirm pan, tilt and roll range and how the gimbal handles vertical shooting. The cited product information does not establish a single movement range or vertical-switching procedure for every model, so check the exact model documentation before buying.
- Account for size and expansion. Compare folded portability, extension poles, tripods, lights, ports and kit contents. Some MT3 Pro accessories are kit-specific, and a payload-compatible camera package may still require additional parts.
- Treat battery life as a conditional estimate. Compare runtime only when the test setup is relevant to how you will film. Hohem’s published M7 and MT3 Pro figures use different laboratory conditions, detailed below.
What does Hohem say about battery life?
Hohem identifies the M7 runtime figures as laboratory data. Its product page gives approximately 12 hours when stationary and balanced, approximately 8 hours with AI tracking, and 3–4 hours with AI tracking and the fill light operating together. These are manufacturer estimates, not independently measured field results.

For the MT3 Pro, Hohem states up to 20 hours under a specific indoor test: 25°C and 60% humidity, motors at 100% torque, AI tracking disabled, a balanced and stationary 2.5 kg payload, and operation from a full battery until depletion. This is not a tracking-use or dynamic-filming estimate. The conditions differ from the M7 figures, so the runtimes are not a direct head-to-head comparison.

Some MT3 Pro page superlatives are Hohem’s own claims and carry launch-date qualifications in its footnotes, including a January 2026 boundary. They should not be presented as independently established market-wide facts. The same care applies to terms such as “industry-exclusive” or “unrivaled.” A model page can establish what Hohem says its product does; it does not by itself establish category-wide precedence or superiority.
