The Hisense M7SR is a 2026 4K MiniLED television with the Roku smart TV platform built in. It is sold in several screen sizes, and it suits shoppers who want MiniLED local dimming and streaming in one set without a complicated setup. Best Buy listed the 65-inch model, 65M7SR, at $399.99 when the page was checked on October 7, 2026. That price is a retailer listing that can change, not a manufacturer’s suggested price. This article separates what the listings confirm from what one reviewer observed, and shows what to check before you buy.
What the M7SR is
The M7SR belongs to Hisense’s 2026 M7 MiniLED Series. Best Buy lists it as a 4K resolution television with Roku smart TV functions and support for three HDR formats: Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG. Those format listings are the retailer’s, and they describe what the television is marketed to accept, not how well it renders each format.

What MiniLED means for this set
MiniLED is a backlight design. Instead of a few large light sources, the screen uses many much smaller LEDs, and the backlight is split into zones that can be dimmed or brightened separately. That is what “local dimming” refers to: dark areas of a picture can be darkened behind the panel while bright areas stay lit. Hisense Japan’s 2026 announcement for its U7 series describes this general approach, including smaller LEDs and control over backlight areas. The U7 is a different product line. Its figures do not describe the M7SR, and this article does not carry them over.
The practical question is how many zones the M7SR uses and how bright it gets. Neither figure is established for this model, so this article does not state them.
What one reviewer observed
Vincent Nguyen reviewed the 65-inch model for The Gadgeteer, published September 29, 2026. He describes its MiniLED local dimming, Hi-QLED color technology, and the Roku interface. He tested it in a room with a window and a light facing the screen, so his comments on picture quality reflect that setting. His overall assessment reads: “The M7SR combines an enjoyable big-screen picture with straightforward streaming and clear dialogue.”

This is one reviewer’s experience in one room. It is useful for understanding how the set feels day to day, but it is not a lab measurement and does not predict how the television will perform in every home.
What is not yet established
Several specifications that matter for buying decisions have not been confirmed for the M7SR in any source this article relies on. Treat the following as open questions, not as features:
- Peak brightness, for any size
- Number of dimming zones
- Native refresh rate by screen size
- Input lag in game modes
- HDMI 2.1 capabilities, including VRR and ALLM
If you need any of these, look for the manufacturer’s specification sheet for the exact size you plan to buy, or for a measured test of that model. Do not rely on figures from other Hisense series.

Who the M7SR suits
The M7SR fits a particular kind of buyer. Use this checklist to decide whether it matches your needs:
- Streaming-first viewers who use Roku’s apps and want a single interface for live TV, films and services. Confirm that your apps are available on Roku before buying.
- Viewers who watch HDR content in Dolby Vision, HDR10 or HLG. The retailer lists all three formats, so check which ones your favourite services use.
- Buyers who want a big picture on a budget and are willing to compare live prices across sizes before choosing.
- Gamers should verify the specifications listed above for their chosen size before purchase. Gaming performance has not been established for this model.
Checklist before you buy
- Pick the size from your seating distance. Measure the distance from your main couch to the wall where the TV will sit, then compare it with the 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch options above.
- Check the live price for that exact model number. Compare retailers and confirm the seller, stock status and return terms.
- Confirm your streaming apps on Roku. Do this for every service you use, not only the main ones.
- Confirm the HDR formats your sources send. Match them against the formats the retailer lists.
- Verify gaming requirements. If you need a specific refresh rate, VRR, ALLM or low input lag, confirm each one for your exact size before buying.
- Check wall-mount fit if you plan to mount it. Confirm the VESA hole pattern and the weight rating for your chosen size against the mount you intend to buy.
Each check is simple, but skipping any of them is the most common reason a new television disappoints after delivery.
Is MiniLED worth it on this set?
Whether MiniLED is worth paying for depends on the alternative you are comparing it with. The sources here describe the M7SR’s local dimming and picture in qualitative terms only, so they cannot show that it beats a standard LED set by a measured margin. If you can see the M7SR in a store or at a friend’s home in a room like yours, that test will tell you more than any number in a listing.
