Hisense 65U7NAU Review: Australian 2024 Mini-LED TV

The Australian Hisense 65U7NAU pairs a 144 Hz panel with two HDMI 2.1 ports, but setup, sound and availability deserve careful checks.

The Australian Hisense 65U7NAU is a 65-inch 4K TV with a 144 Hz panel, gaming features and two HDMI 2.1 inputs. Exact-model Australian reviewers praise its colour and gaming performance, while flagging thin built-in sound, setup adjustments and limited viewing angles. Hisense now lists it as discontinued and unavailable, so any remaining stock and price need to be checked with a retailer.

What the Australian 65U7NAU offers

Hisense’s 2024 specification sheet lists a 3840 × 2160 resolution, quantum-dot colour and a native 144 Hz refresh rate. It also specifies Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10, with VIDAA U7 as the smart-TV platform. The stated brightness is 500 nits, with a 1300-nit peak; these are manufacturer figures, not independently reproduced measurements. Hisense’s product page markets the series as Mini-LED Pro, but the model-specific PDF identifies the backlight as “Direct LED.” Those labels differ, so it is best to report both rather than assume the sheet uses the same terminology as the marketing page.

The specification sheet lists 20 W + 20 W + 20 W audio output and Dolby Atmos support. That does not guarantee the impact or clarity of a separate sound system; BTTR describes the built-in speakers as thin-sounding. AirPlay 2 and a three-year warranty are listed on Hisense’s Australian product page. Check warranty terms and eligibility with the seller if buying remaining stock.

How the 65U7NAU performs in Australian reviews

Colour and picture setup

BTTR’s exact-model review, first published on 15 August 2024 and updated on 8 May 2026, praises vivid, detailed colour and respectable blacks with local dimming enabled. It also says default HDR modes can oversaturate, so picture settings may need adjustment to suit your room and preferences. These are the reviewer’s observations, not measurements independently reproduced here. Read BTTR’s 65U7NAU review.

Gaming

The feature list is strong on paper: 144 Hz native refresh, VRR, ALLM and FreeSync Premium Pro. BTTR reports smooth gaming at 144 Hz. To use the TV’s HDMI 2.1 connections, plug a compatible device into HDMI 3 or 4; ports 1 and 2 are HDMI 2.0. HDMI 3 also provides eARC, so a console and an eARC sound system may compete for the most convenient socket. Plan the connection layout before plugging in multiple devices.

Viewing angles and remote

GadgetGuy’s Australian article is a first look, not a full review: its author says the assessment followed two hours of use and that longer testing was still needed. It notes reduced viewing-angle performance and discusses the included solar-powered remote, which can also be charged over USB-C. Treat those observations as an early hands-on impression rather than a long-term assessment. Read GadgetGuy’s first look.

HDMI ports and setup checks

Port Standard or feature listed Practical use
HDMI 1 HDMI 2.0 For a device that does not need one of the TV’s HDMI 2.1 inputs.
HDMI 2 HDMI 2.0 For a device that does not need one of the TV’s HDMI 2.1 inputs.
HDMI 3 HDMI 2.1; eARC Can connect a compatible gaming device or an eARC sound system. Account for the shared port when planning connections.
HDMI 4 HDMI 2.1 The other HDMI 2.1 input for a compatible gaming device.

The port labels matter more than the total count of four: only HDMI 3 and 4 are HDMI 2.1, and HDMI 3 is also the eARC connection. If a console or PC is not delivering the expected high-refresh or variable-refresh behaviour, first confirm that it is connected to HDMI 3 or 4 and that the relevant device and settings support the feature.

Can you use a North American U7N review?

No—not as a substitute for a review of the Australian 65U7NAU. RTINGS explicitly says its North American U7N results do not apply to similarly named international models such as the Australian U7NAU. What Hi-Fi’s review is also of the U7N, not this exact suffix model. Their tested results or ratings should not be attributed to the 65U7NAU. Availability, price and wall mounting

Hisense Australia currently labels the 65U7NAU discontinued and unavailable for purchase on its product page. BTTR records a historical A$1,995 recommended retail price for the 65-inch model; that review-era figure is not a current offer or a guide to present-day street pricing. GadgetGuy’s A$1,599 launch starting figure was for the 55-inch model, not this 65-inch TV. Neither establishes current 65U7NAU stock or price. Check Australian retailers directly before making a buying decision.

Hisense specifies a 400 × 200 mm VESA mounting pattern. Confirm that a wall mount supports that pattern and the TV’s weight, and check its dimensions, screw requirements and installation clearances against the television and your wall before fitting it. No current mount recommendation has been published.

Who should consider the 65U7NAU?

It may suit a buyer who finds verified Australian stock and wants a 65-inch 4K TV with a high-refresh gaming feature set, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. Consider another option or budget for external audio if built-in sound is important, and view the screen from your usual seating positions if several people watch from wide angles. Since the model is discontinued, compare only exact regional models and verify current availability, warranty and price rather than relying on old launch or review figures.
