Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Neither chipset is a clear all-round winner. The Helio G35 has a higher listed peak CPU clock (2.3 GHz versus 2.2 GHz), while the Helio G36 platform lists support for more memory and a display refresh rate up to 90 Hz. Both use eight Cortex-A53 cores, the same listed GPU and a 12 nm process. Benchmark aggregates lean toward the G35 in some tests, but they are based on small, unmatched phone samples—not a controlled chip-versus-chip test.
Helio G36 vs G35 specifications
MediaTek’s specification pages describe two closely related entry-level platforms. Their headline CPU and graphics configurations are similar; the most visible listed differences are peak CPU frequency and G36’s higher stated memory ceiling and 90 Hz display support.

These are platform capabilities, not guarantees about a particular phone. Manufacturers choose the actual RAM, display, connectivity bands and other components. See MediaTek’s Helio G36 specifications and Helio G35 specifications for the listed capabilities.
Which is faster: Helio G36 or Helio G35?
The G35 has a 100 MHz higher listed maximum CPU clock, but peak frequency by itself does not establish which phone will feel faster. Both chips use eight Cortex-A53 cores, and actual performance depends on the handset’s cooling, memory configuration, firmware and software as well as the task.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.52" Large Screen: Armor X13 rugged phone boasts a massive 6.52-inch HD+ display, which brings impressive sweeping visuals.

The published benchmark figures do not show a consistent, controlled winner. NanoReview’s comparison page, retrieved in 2026, lists the G35 ahead in its AnTuTu 11 aggregate and Geekbench 6 results. 91mobiles’ comparison reports different AnTuTu scores and a Geekbench single-core result that favors the G36. These are results from different comparison sources and should not be combined as though they came from one test run.
Benchmark results reported by comparison sites
| Source and benchmark | Helio G36 | Helio G35 | What the figures show |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview, AnTuTu 11; page retrieved 2026 | 193,858 points (9 tests) | 200,794 points (2 tests) | G35 leads this small aggregate; the page does not state the benchmark publisher year. |
| NanoReview, Geekbench 6; page retrieved 2026 | 189 single-core; 781 multi-core | 300 single-core; 843 multi-core | G35 leads the listed scores. The page indicates fewer than three samples for G35 and for some G36 tests. |
| NanoReview, PCMark 3.0; page retrieved 2026 | 4,695 (3 phone models) | 5,781 (fewer than 3 phone models) | G35 leads this reported aggregate, with a small device sample. |
| 91mobiles, AnTuTu; page retrieved 2026 | 158,812 points | 203,078 points | G35 leads the scores reported by this comparison; they are not the same run as NanoReview’s results. |
| 91mobiles, Geekbench single-core; page retrieved 2026 | 190 | 179 | G36 leads this particular reported comparison, illustrating that results do not all point in the same direction. |
Neither source supplies a matched test of otherwise identical phones, and the available sample counts are low for several results. Treat the numbers as reported comparison-site aggregates, not as a guaranteed percentage difference in everyday use. A meaningful handset comparison needs the same benchmark version and comparable phone conditions; scores can shift with cooling, RAM, firmware and operating system.
For context, MediaTek announced the Helio G35 on June 30, 2020, alongside the G25, positioning them for mainstream gaming smartphones. Its product page describes the G35 as enabling mainstream gaming smartphones with HyperEngine technology; that positioning is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of smooth performance in every game or handset. MediaTek’s official G36 page provides specifications but does not establish a launch date here. See the MediaTek G35 and G25 announcement.
What matters when choosing a phone with either chip?
When comparing actual phones, the SoC name is only one part of the decision. Check the specific model and regional variant rather than assuming every platform capability appears in every handset.
- Memory and storage: Compare the actual RAM and storage configuration. The chip’s maximum supported memory does not tell you what the manufacturer installed, and eMMC storage support does not guarantee identical storage performance across phones.
- Display: Compare resolution, refresh rate and panel quality. G36’s stated 90 Hz ceiling does not mean every G36 phone has a 90 Hz screen.
- Sustained performance: Look for testing of the exact handset under sustained load. Cooling and firmware affect how long it can maintain performance.
- Battery and charging: Compare the phone’s battery capacity and charging implementation; these are not determined by the chipset comparison alone.
- Software support: Check the handset maker’s update policy and the software version available for the particular model.
- Cameras: Compare camera hardware and sample results from the phone itself. The SoC’s platform capabilities do not determine the manufacturer’s sensors or image processing.
- Network fit: Verify LTE bands and the precise regional version against your carrier. A general 4G/LTE capability listing does not confirm that a specific model supports every local band.
- Price and availability: Compare current offers for the exact configuration and region; chip specifications do not establish present stock or value.
For examples only, 91mobiles lists the POCO C61, Tecno Spark 20C and Infinix Smart 8 Plus among G36 phones, and the Nokia G20, realme C12, realme C15 and OPPO A77 2022 among G35 examples. Those listings do not establish current availability, local SKU details or that every configuration uses the same components.
