Start with the storefront and the exact symptom
Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer and paid Campaign are separate store listings or access components. A missing Campaign does not necessarily mean the game itself is failing to launch.

- The game opens, but Campaign is missing: Check that the game is updated, confirm you are signed in with the correct Gamertag, and install Campaign through the in-game Manage Game flow. Steam Campaign ownership remains tied to Steam; Xbox and Microsoft Store purchases carry across those listed Xbox storefronts under Xbox Play Anywhere. - The entire game will not open or crashes: Continue with the platform-specific launch checks below.
- The game opens but stutters or runs slowly: Compare your system with Halo Support’s published specifications, check the graphics driver, then test only settings relevant to the symptom.
Halo Support’s Campaign Known Issues page is dated June 10, 2025 (version 1.11.0.1), and its global PC known-issues page is dated November 18, 2025. The steps below describe issues and workarounds those pages list; those dates do not establish that every issue remains active.
Halo Infinite crashes on launch on Steam
Try the listed Campaign and texture-pack workaround
Halo Support’s Campaign Known Issues page, updated June 10, 2025 (version 1.11.0.1), lists a Steam launch crash when Campaign and Multiplayer High-Res Texture Packs are not both installed. Its workaround changes which DLC is installed, so follow the order and let Steam finish each update before retrying.

- In Steam, open Library, right-click Halo Infinite, and choose Properties.
- Open the DLC tab. Uncheck Multiplayer High-Res Textures, allow the game to update, and try launching.
- If the crash continues, return to Properties > DLC. Uncheck Campaign and Campaign High-Res Textures, allow the update, and try launching again.
- If the game still crashes after all DLC has been removed, fully reboot the PC and try again.
- If the game launches, reinstall any removed DLC you want to use.

If Easy Anti-Cheat is missing
Halo Support describes missing Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) as a rare PC launch issue. Use the repair path for your installation rather than applying unrelated security changes.
- Steam: In Steam Library, right-click Halo Infinite, choose Properties > Installed Files, then select Verify integrity of game files. Let the check complete and retry the game.
- Xbox app or Microsoft Store: Halo Support says to uninstall and reinstall the game so EAC installation is triggered again.
- Xbox app or Microsoft Store with Comodo Antivirus: Halo Support lists Comodo as a possible launch blocker for these PC installs. Its workaround is to add Halo Infinite to Comodo’s Excluded Applications list. Do not turn off antivirus protection generally or assume the same exclusion is appropriate for other products.
Repair damaged or modified game files before reinstalling
Halo Support warns that modified game files can cause crashes or performance problems. Its corruption guidance describes rare installation or update corruption symptoms such as silent crashes, freezing, and Windows messages including “Damaged media” or “module is damaged.”

- Steam: Open Steam Library, right-click Halo Infinite, choose Properties > Installed Files, and select Verify integrity of game files. Wait for verification to finish, then launch the game.
- Xbox app or Microsoft Store: Use the Windows app repair option for Halo Infinite, if available in your Windows installation.
- If repair or verification does not resolve the problem: Uninstall and reinstall the game. For missing EAC on Xbox app or Microsoft Store installs, Halo Support specifically recommends reinstalling to trigger EAC installation.
Reinstalling is more disruptive than repairing or verifying files, so try the earlier checks first. Low FPS or stuttering: check the system before changing settings
Compare your PC with Halo Support’s published tiers
Halo Support’s specifications page, dated December 12, 2024, lists the following PC examples. Its Windows versions are reproduced as published, not offered here as current Windows recommendations.

These are published tiers, not performance guarantees or benchmarks. Check Halo Support’s specifications page for the current table before relying on it for a later hardware decision. It specifies SSD storage but does not specify NVMe, SATA, form factor, brand, or model.
Find your GPU and driver version
- Search for dxdiag from the Windows Start menu and open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- Open the Display tab and note the device and driver version shown.
- Compare your system and driver with Halo Support’s specifications and recommended driver guidance. If the listed system checks are satisfied, try adjusting the game’s in-game video settings.
Halo Support says: “Please contact the GPU’s manufacturer if you have any issues with installing graphics drivers or maintaining a graphics processing unit (GPU).” Halo Support: PC hardware specifications and drivers
Test documented causes of stutters and performance drops
Use these as targeted checks when they match your setup or symptoms, not as blanket optimization advice. Halo Support’s PC issue list identifies each as a possible cause:

- Older AMD graphics drivers: Halo Support lists poor performance with older AMD GPU drivers and says updating to the most recent version fixes that listed issue.
- AMD Radeon Anti-Lag: If you use the feature and notice hitches, try turning it off to see whether the symptom changes.
- Windows background recording or capture: On Windows 10, Halo Support lists Background Recording as a possible performance issue; on Windows 11, it lists Record What Happened. Disabling the relevant capture feature is its first suggested workaround.
- Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling: Halo Support says turning this off may also resolve the recording-related performance issue. It notes the setting is off by default on Windows 10 and on by default on Windows 11. Treat this as an alternative diagnostic, not a universal performance setting.
Campaign loading stalls and save safety
Some Campaign issues occur inside the game and are not evidence of a general PC launch or performance defect.
- Protect your save: Halo Support warns that forcibly closing the game during active Campaign gameplay and then loading a different save the next time can overwrite or corrupt progress in some cases. Use the pause menu to return to the main menu before closing.
- Endless loading after fast-traveling while dead: Halo Support’s listed workaround is to close and reload the save from the main menu.
- Blue loading banner cancelled by switching modes: Wait for loading to finish and exit through the pause menu. If the game is already unresponsive, close and relaunch it.

When to contact Halo Support
If a crash persists and you can reproduce it, Halo Support asks for the steps that led to the crash. Attach a DxDiag file and the Windows Control Panel Problem Report for Halo Infinite. For low performance, its guidance is to check specifications and drivers first, then test in-game video settings if those checks pass. Halo Support: crashes and performance guidance
Include the storefront, Windows version, GPU and driver version, when the failure occurs, the exact error text, and which checks changed the behavior. This gives support a concrete failure description instead of a general report that the game “doesn’t work.”
