There is no official or statistically verified strongest-to-weakest ranking of Halloween: The Game’s Civilians. For a broadly useful pick, Laurie Strode is a sensible all-rounder; for more role-focused teams, Marcus Navarro is a strong repair-and-vehicle choice, while Tanya Harrison and Alexis Purcell suit phone and follower support. Treat this as a practical, roster- and patch-dependent guide, not a measured tier list.
How to read this ranking
Published guides disagree, and neither establishes a complete ranking from controlled current-patch results. Halloween Wiki’s September 10, 2026 list places Tanya Harrison and Marcus Navarro in S, Laurie Strode in A+, and leaves Bob and Thomas unranked. AllThings. How’s September 5, 2026 list puts Laurie, Alexis, and Marcus in S, with Tanya in A; it covers eight starting Civilians and excludes later additions. These are editorial assessments, not official tiers or win-rate findings.

The order below prioritizes broad usefulness across different match situations, with role-specific alternatives where a narrow team plan may matter more than versatility. The roster guide’s character roles and stat descriptions are fan-made, so check current in-game details before relying on a particular trait or unlock.
Practical ranking of the Civilians
1. Laurie Strode — best all-rounder
Laurie is the most straightforward general-purpose recommendation in the available role descriptions. She is characterized as an all-rounder and as a fit for anti-Michael or arrest-oriented teams. That flexibility makes her a reasonable default when you do not have a specialized plan. One published guide ranks her in S, while another places her in A+; neither establishes that she is objectively best in every squad or situation.

- Elevated Asymmetrical Multiplayer: Cooperate with up to four players as the Heroes of Haddonfield and face off against the one and only Michael Myers in unpredictable multiplayer matches unfolding within a living, breathing game world.
2. Marcus Navarro — repairs and vehicle plans
Choose Marcus when your team expects to make repairs or build its escape plan around vehicles. His role description emphasizes repairs and vehicle plans, and both September 2026 guides place him in S. That shared placement makes him one of the better-supported high-tier picks in those editorials, but it is still not proof of a higher win rate.
3. Tanya Harrison — phone and follower support
Tanya is a support-oriented choice for phone and follower plans. Halloween Wiki ranks her in S, while AllThings. How places her in A. The difference underscores that a character’s value depends on what the team is trying to accomplish; the available evidence does not resolve the disagreement with performance data.
4. Alexis Purcell — support with a roster-access caveat
Alexis is also associated with phone and follower support. AllThings. How places her in S, and Halloween Wiki places her in A+. A secondary roster guide describes Alexis as a Digital Deluxe addition rather than one of the ten Standard Edition Civilians announced by IllFonic. Confirm current roster access and purchase terms in-game or through current official materials.

5. Rachel — anti-Michael or arrest-oriented teams
Rachel is identified as a possible pick for anti-Michael or arrest-oriented teams. AllThings. How ranks her in A, but the other guide does not list her among its ranked characters. The role can be more useful than a broad tier placement if your squad is deliberately coordinating around that plan.
6. Jennifer Aarons — brawling
Jennifer is described as a brawling option. Halloween Wiki places her in A, while AllThings. How places her in B. That disagreement is a reason to treat the placement as context-dependent, especially when a team needs a fighter rather than a general-purpose pick.
7. Bob Simms — brawling, with incomplete ranking coverage
Bob is another brawling-oriented choice in the roster guide. Halloween Wiki leaves him unranked, and AllThings. How’s eight-character list does not cover him. A secondary launch-era guide says he unlocks at account level 40, but verify that requirement in the current game because unlock information can change.
Rank #3
- A 1 vs Many game by renowned designer Emerson Matsuuchi.
- Focus on hidden movement mechanics and escaping as a bystander, or hunting them down as Mike Myers!
8. Eric Dunn — a mid-to-high placement in one guide
Eric appears in both September 2026 lists, but the placements differ: A+ in Halloween Wiki and B in AllThings.How. The available role descriptions do not establish a specific team function for him, so there is not enough evidence here to make a role-based case for ranking him above characters with clearly described uses.

Halloween Wiki places Annie in A; AllThings. How does not include her in its eight-character ranking. The available material does not specify a distinct role advantage that would support a more confident placement. A secondary launch-era guide says she unlocks at account level 55; check current in-game requirements before relying on that detail.
10. Richard Hawthorne — limited comparative evidence
Halloween Wiki places Richard in A, while AllThings. How places him in B. The roster guide describes him as a Digital Deluxe addition. Since the available role descriptions do not spell out a specific advantage for him, treat these tier labels as opinions rather than a settled comparison.
Rank #4
- Includes eight chilling effects on one DVD with multiple display modes; WANDERING HORDE, UNEXPECTED GUEST, BROKEN BARRICADES and ZOMBIE FEAST
- PLASTER DISASTER: Ravenous zombies punch and claw their way through a plaster wall
- ZOMBIE SHADOWS: Shadowy clusters of zombies loom behind frosted glass
- Includes four chilling effects on one DVD; Each effect can feature any of the three characters: the seductive debutante, the stern-featured gentleman or the creepy little girl
11. Lynda van der Klok — lower placement in one guide
Halloween Wiki places Lynda in B, while the other guide does not rank her. The available evidence provides no controlled comparison or specific role description to explain that placement, so it should not be read as proof she is a poor pick in every match.
12. Thomas — not ranked in the available lists
Halloween Wiki leaves Thomas unranked and notes that his kit arrived after most launch rankings; AllThings. How limits its coverage to eight starting Civilians. The available sources do not support a defensible position for him relative to the rest of the roster.
Choose by role when your team has a plan
| Team need | Suggested pick | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Flexible default | Laurie | Described as an all-rounder and as a fit for anti-Michael or arrest-oriented teams. |
| Repairs and vehicle escape plans | Marcus | The roster guide identifies repairs and vehicle plans as his role strengths. |
| Phone and follower support | Tanya or Alexis | Both are associated with phone and follower support; Alexis may require a different edition or roster access. |
| Anti-Michael or arrest-oriented team | Rachel or Laurie | Both are named as possible fits for this team approach. |
| Brawling | Jennifer or Bob | The roster guide identifies each as a brawling option. |
Halloween: The Game’s roster guide describes four fixed Civilian stats: Athleticism (movement on foot and by bike), Personality (social and follower interactions, plus some fear or stalk resistance), Resourcefulness (repairs, environmental interactions, vehicles, and firearms), and Capability (melee and thrown household items). Those categories help explain why a specialist may suit a team plan even when tier lists disagree. The descriptions are from a fan-made guide rather than a verified current in-game stat reference.

Roster scope and unlock details
IllFonic’s launch announcement named ten Standard Edition playable Civilians: Jennifer, Tanya, Rachel, Eric, Marcus, Thomas, Bob, Lynda, Annie, and Laurie. It identifies Bob Simms, Annie Brackett, Lynda van der Klok, and Laurie Strode as reimagined legacy characters. A secondary roster guide says Richard Hawthorne and Alexis Purcell are Digital Deluxe additions, bringing its launch-era roster to twelve. Current ownership, unlock, and roster details should be checked against the game or current official materials.
Why older combat rankings may not hold
A community Reddit post titled “1.0.3 Patch Notes” reports changes to melee: higher Capability values contribute less melee damage and lower values contribute more; Heavyweight grants less fear resistance and melee damage; the drunk melee boost is reduced; and Michael’s damage resistance increases across Bloodthirst levels. If those changes accurately reflect the relevant game version, they could affect older assessments of brawlers such as Bob, combat-focused Laurie builds, and intoxication-focused play. The post is community material, not a verified official patch page, so do not treat it as authoritative confirmation of current balance.
No reviewed source establishes controlled current-patch win rates or comparable character tests across maps, squads, and player skill levels. The official announcement confirms launch roster names and legacy-character context; it does not establish a tier list.
