Gyre Bitrate and Resolution Settings for 1080p YouTube Playback

Gyre’s 1080p file target is 1920×1080 H.264 at 30 FPS and 3072–6144 kbps. YouTube’s separate H.264 live-ingest recommendations are 14 Mbps for 1080p30 and 17 Mbps for 1080p60.

For a 1080p prerecorded video in Gyre, its preparation guide lists 1920×1080 resolution, H.264 video, 30 FPS, a video bitrate of 3072–6144 kbps, and 128 kbps audio. These are Gyre’s source-file preparation values—not YouTube’s live-encoder bitrate recommendations. For H.264 live ingest, YouTube recommends 14 Mbps at 1080p30 or 17 Mbps at 1080p60.

Gyre’s recommended settings for a 1080p source file

Gyre’s video preparation guide covers prerecorded files that you upload to Gyre storage before creating a stream. For Full HD, it lists these target settings:

Source-file setting Gyre’s listed value
Resolution 1920×1080
Video codec H.264
Video bitrate 3072–6144 kbps
Frame rate 30 FPS
Audio bitrate 128 kbps

The guide also lists 1280×720 as an HD alternative. It names Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and Final Cut Pro as possible tools for optimizing or converting a video; it does not require a particular editor.

Use 30 FPS as Gyre’s documented Full HD target

Gyre’s cited preparation page lists 30 FPS. It does not document a 60 FPS Full HD file target, so do not read YouTube’s separate 1080p60 ingest recommendation as a Gyre file-preparation setting.

  • Responsive!!: Fast response time of 1ms enhances the experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting. A 120Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver smooth 2D motion scenes in gaming and video.

Do not treat the audio sample rate as video frame rate

The Gyre page contains a labeling error: it lists “FPS 30” and then refers to “Frame rates 44.1 kHz.” Kilohertz is an audio sample-rate unit, not a video frame-rate unit. YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies 44.1 kHz as a stereo audio sample rate.

Why YouTube’s 1080p bitrate is different

YouTube’s live encoder settings concern the stream an encoder sends to YouTube, not the bitrate Gyre lists for an uploaded source file. YouTube says its recommended bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate, and it transcodes live streams into multiple output formats for viewers.

YouTube live ingest format H.264 minimum H.264 recommended
1080p at 30 FPS 5 Mbps 14 Mbps
1080p at 60 FPS 6 Mbps 17 Mbps

YouTube also lists AV1 and H.265 recommendations of 10 Mbps at 1080p30 and 12 Mbps at 1080p60, with 4 Mbps minimums for both. Those figures apply to those codecs; do not substitute them for H.264 values.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These numbers serve different stages of the workflow: Gyre’s range describes the prepared prerecorded file; YouTube’s table describes live encoder ingest. They are not competing answers to a single bitrate question. Keep the source frame rate and encoding context in view when choosing settings.

Prepare and check the file before starting the stream

  1. Set the export: In your video editor or conversion software, choose 1920×1080, H.264, 30 FPS, video bitrate within 3072–6144 kbps, and audio bitrate of 128 kbps to match Gyre’s published Full HD target.
  2. Keep a local copy: Gyre’s workflow requires a local video file to upload. Prepare the file on your device before uploading it to Gyre storage.
  3. Upload the prerecorded file: Gyre says files must be uploaded to its storage to create a stream, including content that previously appeared on your YouTube channel or came from a playlist.
  4. Review file checks: Gyre’s product update describes prelaunch file-parameter checks and an optimization path for files that do not meet requirements. Controls may vary in the current interface; consult the current Gyre workflow if you need to correct a flagged file.
  5. Test the live setup: YouTube advises testing before going live with audio and movement similar to the planned stream. Check that your upload connection can sustain the intended encoder bitrate, then monitor stream health and messages during the event.

YouTube encoder settings to check separately

If your workflow includes a live encoder sending a feed to YouTube, YouTube lists RTMP/RTMPS transport, H.264, H.265, or AV1, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended 2-second keyframe interval that should not exceed 4 seconds. Its advanced settings list 128 kbps stereo audio and a 44.1 kHz stereo sample rate. These are YouTube encoder recommendations, not additional Gyre source-file requirements.

For H.264, use YouTube’s 14 Mbps recommendation for 1080p30 or 17 Mbps for 1080p60 as the encoder target, subject to a stable connection that can sustain it. The listed minimums—5 Mbps at 1080p30 and 6 Mbps at 1080p60—are minimums, not the recommended targets. Test the actual connection and stream rather than assuming a speed-test result guarantees a stable live feed.

Troubleshoot common 1080p setup problems

  • The file is rejected or flagged before launch: Compare its resolution, codec, frame rate, and bitrates with Gyre’s published preparation values. Use Gyre’s optimization path if offered, or export a corrected copy and upload it.
  • The picture is not as sharp as expected: Confirm the source file is actually 1920×1080 and that its export settings match the intended quality. A 1080p setting cannot restore detail absent from a lower-resolution original.
  • The stream drops frames or loses stability: For an encoder sending H.264 to YouTube, check upload capacity against the selected ingest bitrate, use CBR, and test under representative conditions. Watch YouTube’s stream-health messages for specific warnings.
  • Frame-rate settings seem contradictory: Keep Gyre’s 30 FPS source-file target separate from YouTube’s distinct 1080p30 and 1080p60 live-ingest rows. Select a YouTube encoder frame rate that matches the production workflow and source rather than applying 60 FPS by default.
  • 44.1 kHz appears beside an FPS label: Treat 44.1 kHz as an audio sample rate, not frames per second; Gyre’s documented video target is 30 FPS.
