For a new installation, use Minecraft: Java Edition 1.20.1, the Forge loader, and Guns, Cars and Morph release 2.1.1. The matching dedicated-server download is GunsCarsAndMorph+Server-[2.1.1]. Install the same Minecraft version, Forge loader, and pack release on every connecting client. The pack’s license permits private and public servers, but it does not permit republishing or modifying the pack’s files without permission.

What the pack changes in Minecraft
Guns, Cars and Morph is built around a technology-and-fantasy mix while retaining much of vanilla Minecraft’s world and progression. Its defining additions are firearms, drivable cars, the ability to morph into mobs, mutant enemies, and movement abilities. The official feature summary specifically names morphs, TacZ and SuperbWarfare guns, and ParCool movement skills.

Guns and combat
TacZ and SuperbWarfare provide the firearm-focused part of the experience. Their inclusion changes how players approach ranged combat, equipment, and hostile encounters compared with an unmodified survival world. Treat them as part of the pack’s coordinated release: adding a different version of either system to a clean instance can create dependency or configuration conflicts.
Morphs and mutant mobs
Morphing lets players take on mob forms, while mutant mobs raise the threat level beyond standard vanilla encounters. These features are why a server should be backed up before an update: world, player, and configuration data can all be affected when content systems change.

Cars and movement
Cars add a vehicle-based way to move through the world, and ParCool adds movement skills that change traversal and combat positioning. The result is not a pure technology pack or a pure fantasy overhaul; it keeps recognizable vanilla terrain and progression while layering modern weapons, vehicles, mobility, and creature transformations over them.
The published material does not expose a complete mod manifest. Do not assume that a list copied from an older release, a third-party video, or another launcher is the authoritative list for 2.1.1. Use the files and manifest delivered with the exact release you install.

A working multiplayer installation requires three values to match:
- Minecraft version: 1.20.1
- Loader: Forge
- Guns, Cars and Morph release: 2.1.1
The client can fail to join even when the pack has the right name if one of those values differs. A 1.16.5 or 1.7.10 file is not an upgrade path for 1.20.1; it belongs to a different compatibility set. Keep old instances in separate launcher profiles and never copy their mods, configs, or saves into the new profile without a deliberate migration plan.

Install the client pack
Use the official Guns, Cars and Morph project page on Modrinth or CurseForge and select the 1.20.1 Forge release. The labels can vary slightly between launchers, but the required values do not.
- Create a clean instance. Make a new profile dedicated to Guns, Cars and Morph instead of adding it to a general-purpose modded profile. A clean directory keeps unrelated mods, libraries, keybinds, and configuration files from contaminating the pack.
- Select Minecraft 1.20.1. Check the game-version field before installing. Do not rely on the launcher’s default version or on a profile left over from an older pack.
- Select Forge as the loader. The official metadata identifies Forge for both client and server. Fabric, NeoForge, or a vanilla profile is not an equivalent substitute for this release.
- Choose release 2.1.1. Confirm that the installed pack version is the same one your server administrator will deploy.
- Install and launch once. The first launch allows the loader and pack to create their local configuration. If the launcher reports a missing dependency, stop and correct the profile rather than downloading a similarly named file from an unrelated source.
- Keep the instance isolated. Do not add convenience mods until the unmodified pack launches and reaches a test world. If an extra mod later causes a crash or missing-entry error, you can remove it and return to a known-good baseline.
Client checks before joining
- Open the launcher profile and verify 1.20.1, Forge, and 2.1.1.
- Confirm that the game reaches the title screen without a startup crash.
- Use the same release on every player’s computer; a server cannot make an incompatible client’s files match automatically.
- Keep a copy of the clean profile or its launcher export so a damaged configuration can be rebuilt without guessing which files changed.
Set up the dedicated server
Download the matching GunsCarsAndMorph+Server-[2.1.1] artifact from the official CurseForge files listing. The package is the correct starting point for a dedicated server; do not assemble a server by copying random client mods or by reusing a command written for an older release.

1. Create a dedicated server directory
Use a new directory that is not your client instance and not another Minecraft world. A separate location makes backups, permissions, upgrades, and rollback straightforward. Place the downloaded server package there and keep the original archive until the installation has been tested.
2. Provide a suitable Java runtime
Install a Java runtime compatible with Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge build bundled or referenced by the server package. The exact Java major version and launch syntax can depend on the files generated by the package and on the operating system. Read the supplied start scripts and launcher files rather than copying a command from an older Guns, Cars and Morph release.

3. Run the supplied start files
Start the server with the package’s included Forge/server script or launcher. On its first run, the server may stop while it creates the files needed for the installation. This is expected behavior for many Forge server packages; inspect the generated directory and the console output before changing arguments.
4. Accept the EULA when requested
If the first run creates an EULA file, open it, read the terms, and set the required acceptance value before starting again. The server will not finish its normal startup until that requirement is satisfied.
5. Let the first successful run finish
Allow Forge and the pack to generate configuration files, libraries, logs, and the initial world. Stop the server cleanly after it reaches its ready state. Editing configuration while files are still being created can leave a partial installation that is harder to diagnose.
6. Configure the world and access controls
Edit the generated server properties for the settings your group needs, then configure the whitelist before inviting players. A whitelist is especially useful for a new public-facing machine because it lets you test the pack without exposing an unfinished world to everyone who can discover the address.

7. Plan backups before opening access
Back up the world, player data, server configuration, and the exact pack/server package used to create them. Keep at least one copy outside the live server directory. Test that a backup can be restored to a temporary directory; a file copy that has never been restored is not a proven recovery plan.
8. Open network access last
Only after the server starts cleanly, the whitelist works, and a backup exists should you configure the host’s firewall and router or the provider’s network rules. Give players the address and port only after a local or private test connection succeeds.

Every player should install the same 1.20.1 Forge profile and release 2.1.1 that the server runs. Keep the server-pack archive and the client-pack release number visible in your setup notes so a later update does not silently mix versions.

Self-hosting versus managed hosting
The license does not restrict you to a particular hosting model. You can run the server on a computer you control or rent a managed Minecraft server. The practical choice depends on who will maintain Java, Forge, files, networking, and recovery.

Questions to ask a provider before paying
- Can the service run a custom Forge 1.20.1 server rather than only a curated modpack list?
- Can you upload the exact
GunsCarsAndMorph+Server-[2.1.1]files manually? - Can you access logs, configuration, world files, and the generated Forge scripts?
- How much CPU and memory is allocated, and what happens if the server reaches the limit?
- How often are backups made, how long are they retained, and can you download and restore them yourself?
- Where is the server located, and what network protection is included?
- Can you stop the server, replace the pack, and roll back to a previous directory without opening a support ticket?
Can you host it publicly?
Yes. The published Kessel’s Packs License states: “You may also use the Modpack to host private or public Minecraft Servers without restriction.” That permission covers the server use itself, so a community server, friends-only server, or public server is allowed under the stated license.
What the license allows
- Downloading and playing through CurseForge, Modrinth, and applicable third-party launchers.
- Hosting private or public Minecraft servers.
- Creating monetized videos and other content about the pack.
- Linking back to the modpack page when publishing creator content, as requested by the license.
What the license does not allow
- Altering the modpack and presenting the altered package as the original.
- Reuploading the pack or its assets.
- Redistributing the pack or its assets without explicit permission.
Server operators can therefore charge for access or accept creator revenue only within the boundaries of the license and the rules of the services they use. Public permission is not permission to mirror the download, extract assets into a new pack, or distribute modified files. Keep the official release identity intact and direct players to the legitimate project page for downloads.
Updating without losing a world
Treat an update as a migration, even when the new file appears to be a small revision. Stop the server, make a complete backup, record the current release, and test the new server directory separately. Do not overwrite the only working installation.
- Announce maintenance and stop the live server cleanly.
- Copy the world, player data, configuration, logs, and current server package to backup storage.
- Create a separate test directory for the new release.
- Install the matching server artifact and allow it to generate fresh files.
- Copy the backed-up world only after the new server starts successfully on its own.
- Join with a clean client using the same Minecraft, Forge, and pack values.
- Check morphs, weapons, vehicles, movement, permissions, and saved player locations.
- Keep the old directory untouched until the test world and a restore procedure are verified.
Practical launch checklist
- Java Edition 1.20.1 selected on every client.
- Forge selected on every client and on the server.
- Release 2.1.1 installed everywhere.
- The dedicated server was built from
GunsCarsAndMorph+Server-[2.1.1]. - The first server run completed and generated its files.
- The EULA requirement was completed when requested.
- Server properties and whitelist were set before public access.
- A restorable backup exists outside the live directory.
- Firewall, router, or provider network rules were tested after local startup succeeded.
- Players were given the exact profile requirements, not just the pack name.
- No older 1.16.5 or 1.7.10 files were mixed into the 1.20.1 installation.
