What the official descriptions suggest about satire
GTA V: money and aspiration
Rockstar’s 2011 announcement says GTA V focuses on “the pursuit of the almighty dollar” in present-day Southern California. That makes money and aspiration a clear part of the game’s stated premise. It would be too broad, however, to reduce the entire game’s satire to that single theme.

GTA VI: crime alongside fame and business
Rockstar describes Jason and Lucia attempting a score before becoming caught in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. Its character and setting page also introduces figures and ventures associated with Vice City’s music scene, viral social-media success, a real-estate and entertainment empire, and criminal enterprises. Together, these official descriptions put contemporary fame, online culture, music, money and crime in view.

That is a reading of Rockstar’s promotional material, not a confirmed statement about the creators’ full satirical intent. GTA VI release status
As of October 7, 2026, GTA VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Rockstar’s release announcement and store listing. The date is still in the future; GTA VI has not yet launched as of that date. Rockstar’s store lists GTA V for PlayStation 5, which makes it an option for players wanting to revisit Los Santos while waiting.
