If you mainly want to play Grand Theft Auto VI, choose the Standard Edition. Consider Ultimate only if its extra in-game content is worth the additional cost to you—and compare the current price of Ultimate with Standard plus the separately sold upgrade on your platform. Rockstar confirms that upgrade route, but the prices and the exact content difference are not established here.

Which version should you buy?
Choose Standard if you want the base game
Standard is the straightforward choice if your priority is playing GTA VI and the listed extra content does not matter enough to justify paying more. You can start with Standard and decide later whether to upgrade; Rockstar says the upgrade is available after redeeming the Standard code.

Consider Ultimate if its extras appeal to you
Rockstar’s official store comparison lists extra in-game content with Ultimate, but it also shows many of those items under Standard. That overlap makes it unsafe to treat the entire Ultimate list as exclusive or to assume every listed item is an upgrade over Standard. Review the live comparison on your platform before buying.
Compare the actual prices before paying for extras
On the same platform, compare the current Ultimate price with the Standard price plus the separately listed Ultimate Edition Upgrade price. The Rockstar Store page’s $79.99 listing is not enough to calculate that comparison: it does not establish the Ultimate price or the upgrade price. Prices may vary by region and storefront.

The physical package contains a code, not a disc
Rockstar says the physical version is a code-in-box package: it contains a download code and no disc. Rockstar Games Customer Support states, “A disc will not be included in the box.” Physical buyers can use the Ultimate upgrade route after redeeming the digital download code, according to Rockstar’s editions and versions information.

Pre-order bonuses have a stated eligibility window
Rockstar’s cited announcement says purchases before November 20, 2026 qualify for the Vintage Vice City Pack. Rockstar Support says digital pre-orders and purchases before that date also include one month of GTA+. These are time-limited terms, not a reason to assume the bonuses remain available after the deadline. For a code-in-box purchase, confirm bonus eligibility with the retailer and the applicable terms.
