There is no verified product in the available official documentation called Groundtruth. If you want a revision partner that answers from your cousin’s notes, the practical option is to use a source-grounded study tool, limit it to those notes, and check its citations against the originals. Google and Microsoft document features that can help with this workflow, but neither promises that every generated answer will be error-free.
What “only from my notes” should mean
It is a source-control requirement, not just a request for an answer that sounds relevant. A useful tool should let your cousin supply a defined set of notes, make clear which source supports an answer, and expose gaps when the material does not cover a question. Citations help him trace a response back to a passage; they do not prove that the response interprets that passage correctly.

For revision, the assistant should also prompt recall rather than only condense material into a summary. Questions and flashcards give your cousin a chance to answer from memory before checking the notes.
Documented options that fit the workflow
| Tool | Documented revision features | Source handling | Input and limits noted in official guidance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) | Google describes flashcards, quizzes, study guides or reports, and a Learning Guide mode with probing questions and step-by-step explanations. | Google says in its Quick Start Guide to Google AI: “NotebookLM will only use information from the sources you provide.” Google’s announcement says “explain” responses cite original material. | The cited announcement describes working from user documents but does not establish a comprehensive file-type or size limit here. Check the current product documentation for supported inputs. |
| Microsoft Copilot Notebook Study Guide | Microsoft documents summaries, topic pages, flashcards, quizzes, matching, and fill-in-the-blank activities. | Its Study Guide support article says topic-page citations link to original documents so readers can check them in context. | The article lists Word, PowerPoint, and PDF references for several activities. It gives a 100,000-character limit for specified flashcard, matching, and fill-in activities; verify the current limit and eligibility in Microsoft’s guidance. |
Google’s September 8, 2025 announcement of student features also describes curated OpenStax materials in subjects including biology, AP Biology, introductory business, chemistry, psychology, and principles of management. These are published learning materials, not evidence of a paid tutoring service.

Set up a notes-based revision session
- Collect the right material. Give the tool the notes your cousin is expected to revise from. Keep unrelated sources out of the notebook or session so they cannot blur what counts as the source of an answer.
- Ask for retrieval practice. Request a short quiz or flashcards based on the supplied notes. Have him answer before revealing explanations or checking the cards.
- Require traceable explanations. Ask the assistant to cite the supporting passage and to say when the notes do not contain enough information to answer. Treat an uncited answer, or one whose citation does not support the claim, as unverified.
- Check the source passage. Open each citation and compare the explanation with the original note. If the answer adds detail or changes the meaning, use the notes or the relevant textbook or class material to resolve it.
- Fill gaps from course materials. When the notes are incomplete, return to the textbook, reading, or class notes rather than asking the tool to fill the gap from general knowledge.
What citations and source limits cannot guarantee
A citation makes an answer easier to audit; it is not a guarantee of correctness. The tool can still misread a passage or present an incomplete explanation. Microsoft advises: “Treat the Study Guide as a starting point for your studies, not a replacement for the source material.” Its support guidance also recommends referring to textbooks, readings, or class notes for detailed understanding.
No learning-gain figure is established by the cited official product materials. Google’s announcement describes features, and Microsoft’s guidance explains use; neither is an outcome study showing that the tools improve grades, recall, or study time.

Check access and privacy before sharing notes
File support, source limits, account eligibility, regional availability, privacy terms, and cost can change. The official materials cited above do not establish current price or access requirements for every learner. Check the live Google or Microsoft product and support pages for the cousin’s account and location before uploading schoolwork, particularly if the notes include personal information or material he should not share.
