If you already own one, or are considering a used unit, two things decide whether it stays useful: whether you can still buy capsules carrying the Caffitaly System logo, and whether parts and service are still obtainable. Its published specifications are modest, and the public CHOICE review does not expose its performance scores.
This is an assessment built from the published specifications, the S24 instruction manual, CHOICE’s review page (accessed 2026) and a consumer review listing. It is not based on hands-on testing of a unit, so it makes no claims about taste, heat-up time or temperature stability.

What the Little Collins actually is
CHOICE lists the Grinders Little Collins Capsule Machine as previously sold as the Caffitaly System S24, and its page marks the availability as “Discontinued model”. The S24 instruction manual names the model as Caffitaly System S24, so the two names describe the same machine. When you search for manuals, parts or capsule information, use both names.

Note that the 15 bar figure is a manufacturer-style stated value. Treat it as a specification, not as evidence of how the machine extracts coffee in practice.

Capsule compatibility and running cost
The S24 instruction manual is explicit on this point: “Only use capsules displaying the Caffitaly System logo with this machine.” Pods or capsules from other systems are not covered by the manual and should not be assumed to fit or to work safely.
Which capsules qualify
Check the Caffitaly System logo on the package before you buy. CHOICE’s buying guide says Australian Caffitaly machines and compatible capsules were sold under the Grinders Coffee brand, and it names Urban Brew as another producer of Caffitaly-compatible capsules. Those brand statements may have changed since the guide was written, so confirm the current package marking and the retailer’s compatibility statement before committing to a specific capsule range.

Cost per drink
Current capsule prices and stock were not verified for this assessment. Work out the cost per drink yourself by comparing the price of a pack against the number of capsules in it, and check that the flavours you want are still being made. A capsule system is only economical if you can keep buying the capsules.

Daily use and maintenance
The S24 manual covers first use, daily operation, dispensing coffee and hot water, adjusting cup height, programming beverage volume, daily cleaning, descaling, energy-saving behaviour, resetting factory settings and troubleshooting. Two features are worth checking before you buy: the adjustable cup height and the programmable beverage volume.

The manual includes a descaling procedure, but this assessment does not state exact cleaning or descaling intervals. Take the schedule from the full manual section and set it to suit how often you brew and how hard your water is. Hard water will shorten the interval between descaling runs.
Availability, repair and reliability
CHOICE marks the Little Collins model as discontinued. A consumer review listing on ProductReview.com.au also identifies the Caffitaly S24 as discontinued, and some owner comments there mention failures and difficulty finding spare parts. Those comments are individual experiences, not a measured failure rate, and they do not establish current Australian parts stock.

No exact current successor model was established for this assessment. If you need a replacement, that is a separate decision covered below.

CHOICE’s full review scores are member-only on the public page. These include its Expert Rating, taste-test score, ease-of-use score, milk-frothing score, coffee-temperature consistency score and measured heat-up time. Those figures are not visible here, so any claim about how this machine tastes, how quickly it heats or how consistently it holds temperature should be checked against CHOICE’s member results before you rely on it.

Before you buy a used unit or keep an existing one running
- Confirm the machine is the Caffitaly System S24 (also sold as the Little Collins) and that the body, reservoir and drip tray are intact.
- Check that you can source Caffitaly System-logo capsules locally, and calculate the cost per drink.
- Ask the seller about the descaling history and run a full water cycle before you accept the machine, watching for leaks and unusual noise.
- Find a parts supplier or service contact before buying. Owner reports suggest parts can be hard to find.
- Assume the listed one-year warranty has lapsed on a used unit unless the seller can document otherwise.
If you need a replacement
Because the S24 is discontinued and no exact successor was established, compare any replacement on the points that matter here: capsule availability and cost, beverage-volume adjustment, reservoir size, the cleaning and descaling workflow, warranty and repair support, and independently published performance results. Check current stock and specifications directly with the manufacturer or retailer, since product ranges change.
