Great Question is designed to bring participant recruiting, scheduling, interviews, surveys, prototype tests and research sharing into one workflow. Its alternatives do not all replace that whole workflow: some focus on unmoderated testing, some on recruiting or analyzing feedback, and others on AI-moderated interviews. The right choice depends on what your team needs to do—and where participants and research data come from.
What Great Question does—and what to compare
Product Hunt lists Great Question under team collaboration, survey and form builders, and user research. Its description presents the platform as a place to recruit participants, schedule and run interviews, conduct surveys and prototype tests, then share findings. Great Question’s tagline on the listing is “Make customer research a part of every product release.”

That breadth matters when comparing alternatives. A tool that analyzes existing calls is not automatically a substitute for one that recruits people and runs studies. Before choosing, decide whether you need to find participants from your customer base, recruit from an external panel, run particular research methods, or organize feedback your team has already collected.

Great Question alternatives by workflow
Maze: prototype and usability tests
Great Question characterizes Maze as a fit for design teams running quick, unmoderated prototype and usability tests. Its comparison lists a free plan and a $99-per-month Starter plan. Consider it when testing designs is the main job and you do not need to maintain your own customer panel across studies. Confirm the current plan limits and recruitment options with Maze.
Dovetail: analysis of feedback already collected
Dovetail is positioned as a place to analyze material such as calls, support tickets, documents and surveys. Great Question’s comparison lists a free plan. This makes Dovetail a more natural fit for organizing and analyzing existing feedback than for replacing a complete participant-recruitment and study-running workflow. Verify what current plans include before treating it as a full research-operations replacement.

UserTesting: video feedback from a participant network
Great Question describes UserTesting as an option for fast video feedback using its participant network and lists its starting price as quote-based. It may be less suitable if your main need is research with your own customers; the vendor comparison specifically identifies that as a weaker-fit case. Ask providers how participant sourcing, study methods and pricing work for your intended audience.
User Interviews: participant recruitment for existing tools
User Interviews is presented as a recruiting service to pair with the tools a team already uses, rather than a complete platform for running and analyzing every part of a study. Great Question’s comparison lists pay-as-you-go pricing starting at $49 per session. A per-session recruitment price is not the same as a per-seat software subscription; account for the tools you will still use to conduct and analyze studies.

How to choose the right fit
- Choose the participant source. If studies mainly involve your own customers, prioritize how a provider recruits from and works with that audience. Great Question says its recruitment can use a team’s customer base through CRM connections, and that external recruitment is through a panel powered by User Interviews. If you need a third-party network, compare the available audiences and recruitment terms directly.
- Pick the research method first. For prototype and usability testing, compare Maze or Lyssna; for video feedback from a participant network, consider UserTesting; for AI-moderated interviews, evaluate Listen Labs or Outset. These are workflow distinctions from Great Question’s comparison, not an independent assessment of current feature parity.
- Decide whether you need to run studies or analyze what you have. If the immediate problem is organizing calls, tickets, documents and survey responses already collected, Dovetail is positioned for that work. If you need recruiting and study operations as well, check whether you would need additional services or tools.
- Compare the full cost of the workflow. Include seats, participant recruitment, study volume, billing cadence and any separate analysis or repository software. Treat a quote-based offer and a per-session recruiting price as distinct from recurring per-seat pricing.
- Validate the current offer. The comparison’s pricing check is dated September 29, 2026. Before committing, confirm plan terms and whether the product supports your audience, methods and sharing needs with the provider.
What Great Question’s vendor claims do—and do not—establish
Great Question’s pricing page says the average customer replaces 12 separate research tools with the platform and that 90% of qualitative UX research happens with a team’s own customers. The page does not provide underlying study details alongside those figures, so they should be read as vendor claims rather than independently verified market statistics.
The same page reports that Flight Centre saved $300,000–$400,000 annually after consolidating tools and expanding Great Question use, and that Procare saved more than $15,000 annually after switching from UserTesting while saving seven hours per month on recruitment. These are vendor-reported customer outcomes, not guaranteed savings or a basis for predicting another team’s results.
