Granite Construction is both a civil contractor and a producer of construction materials, so a fair comparison with publicly traded U.S. construction companies depends on matching business segments and reporting scope. In fiscal 2025, Granite reported $4.424 billion in total revenue, including $3.655 billion from Construction and $769.5 million from Materials. Tutor Perini offers one useful heavy-civil comparison, but its Civil segment—not its full company revenue—is the closer match to Granite’s construction activity.
What Granite Construction does
Granite Construction Incorporated reports two segments: Construction and Materials. Construction performs infrastructure and civil projects; Materials produces and sells construction inputs including aggregates and asphalt, as well as recycled materials. This mix matters: comparing Granite’s consolidated revenue with a contractor that does not have a comparable materials business can obscure differences in what each company sells.

Tutor Perini is a publicly traded company with a Civil segment focused on public works and infrastructure replacement and reconstruction in several U.S. regions. Its Civil segment reported approximately $2.847 billion in 2025 revenue. Tutor Perini also has Building and Specialty Contractors segments, so its Civil revenue is the more relevant comparison with Granite’s construction activity; it should not be set against Granite’s $4.424 billion consolidated total as though the scopes matched. Granite’s public and private customer mix
Within Granite’s Construction segment, $2.608 billion of 2025 revenue came from public customers and $1.046 billion came from private customers. This shows substantial public-sector exposure alongside private work; it does not describe the customer mix of the Materials segment or establish a direct comparison with Tutor Perini, for which a matching customer-mix figure is not stated here. How to compare Granite with other listed construction companies
There is no single peer list that makes every construction company directly comparable. Granite says competition varies with project type and geography, spanning local businesses through regional, national and international companies; few, if any, compete across all of its markets. Treat an individual peer as an example, not a definitive ranking. Granite Construction 2025 Form 10-K.

- Business mix: Separate heavy civil work from buildings, specialty contracting, engineering, maintenance and materials production.
- Geography: Note regional concentration, national reach and any material international business.
- Customer mix: Distinguish public agency work from private industrial, commercial or other customers.
- Revenue scope: Compare consolidated revenue with consolidated revenue, or comparable segments with segments. Label the fiscal year and segment definition.
- Materials integration: Identify whether the company produces aggregates, asphalt or other inputs itself or relies on outside suppliers.
- Execution measures: Compare segment profitability and backlog or committed-project measures only when their definitions and reporting dates are consistent.
What the figures do—and do not—show
The available fiscal 2025 figures establish Granite’s reported company and segment revenue, its Construction customer split, and Tutor Perini Civil’s segment revenue. They do not provide a normalized comparison across the full universe of publicly traded U.S. construction companies, nor a consistent peer set for margins, backlog or geographic exposure. Those comparisons require examining additional company filings and aligning fiscal periods, segment definitions and inclusion criteria. Revenue alone does not establish which company is more profitable, has stronger project execution, or is a better investment.
All figures above are historical fiscal 2025 results reported in company filings. Company scope and listing status can change; check current filings and market information before using the figures for an investment decision. This comparison is informational, not investment advice.
