Yes, but not in ordinary ChatGPT conversations. OpenAI says GPT-6.1 Sol is rolling out to eligible paid plans in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and explicitly states that it is not available in regular ChatGPT conversations. Access can depend on your plan, rollout status, and—in managed workspaces—administrator settings.

OpenAI’s Help Center describes the product boundary directly: “They are not available in regular ChatGPT conversations.” That means an account can have access to Sol in Work or Codex without seeing it in the standard ChatGPT model picker.

Why GPT-6.1 Sol may not appear
Not seeing Sol does not necessarily mean anything is wrong with your account. OpenAI describes access as a rollout for eligible paid plans, with availability affected by plan and workspace configuration.

- Check plan and rollout: Confirm that your plan is eligible and that access has reached your account. A rollout can mean availability is not immediate for every eligible user.
- Check organization controls: For Enterprise and Edu workspaces, an owner must enable model access. Workspace settings and assigned roles can affect what members see. OpenAI model availability guidance
If you use a managed Enterprise or Edu account, ask your administrator to verify both model access and your role permissions. For other accounts, confirm you are using Work or Codex and allow for rollout availability to reach the account.

Using GPT-6.1 Sol through the API
Developers can call the model separately from ChatGPT Work and Codex by using the API model ID gpt-6.1-sol. OpenAI lists text and image input, text output, a 1,050,000-token context window, a maximum output of 128,000 tokens, and reasoning-effort options of low, medium, high, xhigh, and max. These are API specifications, not a promise that the same limits or controls appear in ChatGPT products. OpenAI API model page

OpenAI positions GPT-6.1 Sol as offering “Near-Astra performance for complex work at a lower cost,” and describes it as suited to complex coding, computer use, and professional work. Those are the company’s product claims, not an independent comparative benchmark. The official material cited here does not establish a separate measured performance result.
