The better question is which architecture your team can run for the next two years. Choose by the language and framework your engineers will maintain, whether you need organizations and billing at launch, and who will own deployment and upgrades. Feature checklists matter less than those three decisions.
How the four products differ at the architecture level
The four products are code foundations, not interchangeable feature lists. They differ in language, application shape, and how much infrastructure they assume. The table below uses each vendor’s own descriptions unless noted, and marks where a comparable value is not stated.

| Product | Application shape and stack (as described) | Deployment (as described) | Source and how far to trust it |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoVueKit | Go API using chi and sqlc, with a Vue 3 and TypeScript frontend embedded in one binary; PostgreSQL or SQLite options | Not stated in the material reviewed | GoVueKit’s own comparison. The surrounding page could not be checked independently, so read this as the vendor’s stated design. |
| supastarter | Modular monorepo supporting Next.js and Nuxt; better-auth; Prisma or Drizzle; Hono or oRPC; organizations and internationalization; several payment integrations | Not stated in the material reviewed | supastarter’s official comparison. First-party, so feature statements are vendor claims rather than independent findings. |
| SaaS Pegasus | Django-centered application | VPS or virtual machine, PaaS, or containers with optional Kubernetes; official configurations listed for Render, Fly, Heroku, DigitalOcean App Platform, and Google Cloud Run | Pegasus’s official documentation for deployment; the Django characterization comes from the comparison material. |
| ShipFast | Single-app Next.js starter | Not stated in the material reviewed | Described in a competitor’s comparison. Confirm against ShipFast’s own documentation before relying on it. |
Decision axes that matter most
Team fluency
Pick the foundation whose primary language your team can debug at 2 a.m. GoVueKit maps to Go-plus-Vue teams, supastarter and ShipFast to TypeScript and React or Vue frontend teams, and Pegasus to Python and Django teams. No available source shows that one of these stacks is universally faster to build with. Fluency is the variable you can actually measure in your own team.
Tenancy and authorization
Decide early whether you need organizations, teams, roles, and organization-level billing at launch. supastarter advertises these capabilities directly, and the GoVueKit comparison also discusses tenancy. Confirm the exact implementation in each project’s current documentation rather than relying on a feature label, because a built-in organization model and a model you must add yourself carry very different migration costs later.
#1 Best Overall
Deployment and operations
This axis decides your monthly workload more than any other. Account for the runtime, the database, background jobs, the hosting provider, and who responds when something breaks. Pegasus’s documentation describes three routes:
- VPS or virtual machine: the documentation describes this route as error-prone but cost-effective for small applications. You own the server, its patching, and its restarts.
- PaaS: the documentation describes this as easier to start with. The platform handles much of the server work, at the cost of platform-specific configuration.
- Containers, with optional Kubernetes: also described as easier to start with via Docker-based approaches, and the route most likely to suit a team that already runs container infrastructure.
These are Pegasus documentation’s general trade-off statements, not a benchmark. GoVueKit’s comparison frames its case around cost at idle, but no idle-cost figure was verified for any product in this article.

Application shape and extensibility
A modular monorepo, as supastarter describes its own design, separates packages for authentication, database, API, email, and UI. That supports reuse across apps but adds workspace conventions your team must learn. A single-app starter, as ShipFast and the GoVueKit single-binary design are described, is quicker to read end to end. It can require more restructuring if your product grows past one application or one deployment unit.

Choosing by situation
- Go-first team that wants one deployable artifact: the GoVueKit design fits the described model. Verify the database choice, frontend build, and hosting path in its own documentation first.
- TypeScript team that expects multiple apps or organization billing: supastarter’s modular structure and built-in organization features match that scope, provided you accept its package conventions.
- Python team, or one that wants flexible hosting: Pegasus documents the widest set of deployment routes in this group.
- Next.js team that wants a small, single codebase: ShipFast’s single-app shape is the simplest to understand. Confirm its current scope before assuming it covers multi-tenancy.
Before you buy
- Open each vendor’s current purchase page and record the license terms, permitted number of projects or seats, update policy, and refund terms. Prices and terms change, so do not reuse figures from older snippets or comparison posts.
- Check whether the code includes the tenancy, roles, and billing features you need at launch, and read the implementation rather than the feature summary.
- Pick a deployment route and confirm that the starter’s documented configuration matches it. For Pegasus, that means one of the listed platforms or a container setup you already operate.
- Estimate the hosting and service costs for your runtime and region separately from the starter’s price.
Where the evidence is thin, as it is for GoVueKit’s implementation details and ShipFast’s current scope, treat the vendor’s own description as a claim to verify, not a settled fact.
