Googlebook’s reported Quick Access feature lets you browse files on a paired Android phone from the Files app on the laptop and move them between devices. Android Authority reported the feature on October 5, 2026, citing a Google launch reviewer guide. The report says it requires Android 17 and supports transfers of files under 200 MB; Google recommends Quick Share for larger files. These are reported launch details, not confirmation that the feature is available on every Googlebook model or in every region.
What Quick Access does
Quick Access is a reported Files app feature for a Googlebook and a paired Android phone. It is meant for browsing and moving files between those devices—not for transferring Google Books purchases or managing an ebook library. Android Authority also says it can make it easier to attach a file from the phone while composing an email on the laptop. Android Authority’s October 5, 2026 report attributes these details to a Google reviewer guide, which was not separately verified here.

How to browse phone files from a Googlebook
- Pair the Android phone with the Googlebook. The report does not establish the exact pairing steps or permission prompts.
- Open the Files app on the Googlebook.
- Select the paired phone in the left sidebar.
- Browse the reported folders: Downloads, Documents, or Camera. Drag and drop a file to transfer it, subject to the reported size limit.
The public report does not establish what happens if either device is offline, or whether the same steps and folders appear on every model.
Transfer size and Android version
According to Android Authority’s account of Google’s reviewer guide, Quick Access transfers are for files under 200 MB, and the phone must run Android 17 for the reported cross-device features. The 200 MB threshold is a reported limit, not an independently tested result. For larger files, the report says Google recommends Quick Share; it does not provide a speed or privacy comparison between the methods.

Quick Access is different from moving files during setup
Quick Access concerns files on a paired phone after setup. Google describes a separate laptop-switching process for people moving to a Googlebook: sign in on the old computer, upload files to Google Drive, and finish setup using a phone. See Google’s Googlebook product page for that onboarding flow. It is not the same as browsing a phone in Files.
It is not a Google Books ebook-transfer feature
The similar names can be confusing. Google Play Books lets users upload PDF and EPUB documents to their Play Books library; its Android help instructions cover enabling PDF uploads when needed and uploading through the Files app or an email attachment. That library workflow is separate from Quick Access. Google Play Books Help: upload PDF and EPUB files.

Google Books, in turn, describes downloading some full books depending on public-domain status or the rights holder’s permission. Neither that information nor the Play Books upload guidance establishes that Quick Access transfers purchased ebooks or bypasses export restrictions. See Google Books information and Google’s help on downloading books.
