Google Wallet is reportedly nearing the launch of a new pass category called Everything else, a catch-all space for items that don’t fit neatly into classic tickets, transit, or cards views.
If you’re tired of juggling screenshots, reminders, and separate apps for loyalty cards or membership barcodes, this change is aimed at making those “miscellaneous” passes actually usable where you already keep your important stuff.

What Google Wallet Everything else passes likely changes
Historically, Google Wallet has grouped passes by type—things like boarding passes, event tickets, and transit. A broader category like Everything else suggests Google is trying to reduce friction for items that users want to keep handy but that providers don’t always bundle as fully supported pass formats.
From a user perspective, the practical goal is simple: fewer “where did I save that?” moments and a single place to store pass-style information that works even when it’s not a perfect match for standard ticket or card integrations.

What counts as an Everything else pass
Google hasn’t published a full public spec for Everything else under that exact name (so treat the examples below as realistic categories users typically struggle with). The items that commonly end up in a “miscellaneous” bucket include:
- Loyalty cards and points programs with scannable barcodes or QR codes
- Membership cards for gyms, clubs, libraries, and similar organizations
- Gift cards that are distributed as scannable codes
- Discount and offer cards from retailers and restaurants
- Health and access passes (where supported) such as event check-in QR codes
The defining trait is that the content behaves like a pass: you need it at showtime, it often has a scannable code, and you don’t want it buried in an email thread.
Who should care (and who might not)
This feature tends to matter most to people who already use Google Wallet daily but still carry a second “wallet” of screenshots or separate apps for loyalty, membership, and discounts.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- High value: frequent shoppers, travelers who aren’t just focused on boarding passes, students, and anyone with multiple recurring barcodes.
- Lower value: users who only store boarding passes, tickets, and a few transit items—where Wallet already feels complete.
Prerequisites and eligibility checks
To avoid wasting time, verify the basics first. Google Wallet availability and features can vary by country, carrier, and rollout stage.
Device requirements
- Android: Google Wallet runs on many Android phones; feature availability depends on OS version and Wallet build.
- iPhone: Google Wallet is available on iOS, but pass types and rollout timing can differ.
Account and region
- Confirm you’re signed into the correct Google account in Wallet.
- Check that your country/region isn’t restricting pass formats or integrations.
How to prepare your account and device
Even before Everything else appears, you can set things up so rollout is painless.
1) Update Google Wallet
- Open the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android.
- Search for Google Wallet.
- Install or update to the latest version available for your device.
Feature rollouts often ride along with app version changes.

2) Enable any required permissions
- Open Settings on your phone.
- Find Google or Apps > Google Wallet.
- Review permissions like Camera (for scanning) and Notifications (for pass updates, where offered).
3) Make sure pass scan access works
If Wallet can’t reliably open the camera or scan codes, you’ll hit friction the moment you try to add barcodes in bulk.

How to add passes in Google Wallet (current workflows that Everything else is expected to unify)
Until Everything else lands, you can use existing Wallet tools to add scannable cards and keep them accessible. When the new category arrives, the experience is likely to map existing inputs into the new bucket.
Android
Use these steps to add passes via Wallet’s “Add to Wallet” entry points.
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Tap + Add (or the equivalent button on your build).
- Choose an option such as Scan or Add from app, depending on what you see.
- If you’re adding from a barcode/QR code, point the camera at the code and follow the on-screen prompts.
- For provider-based passes, use the provider’s email/SMS link labeled Add to Google Wallet and confirm.
iPhone
On iPhone, Wallet’s flow is similar, though some integrations may appear differently.
- Open Google Wallet on your iPhone.
- Tap + Add.
- Select the scanning option if you’re adding from a QR/barcode.
- Or use the Add to Google Wallet link from the email/notification sent by the pass provider.
- Confirm the pass details and save.
Web and email link workflow (works for many pass providers)
Many loyalty/membership programs generate a link that sends a pass to your Wallet.

One-click scans. No signup required.
- Open the email or message from the provider.
- Look for a button or link labeled Add to Google Wallet or similar.
- Open it on the same phone where you use Wallet.
- Follow prompts to install the pass.
Using Everything else passes once it rolls out (practical expectations)
When Everything else appears, you can expect Wallet to treat these items as first-class pass entries: tap-to-view, code scanning at point of use, and better organization than general “notes” in screenshots.

Here’s what to look for as the feature comes online.
What the UI may look like
- A new pass grouping labeled Everything else inside Wallet’s main navigation.
- Automatic placement of certain scan-based cards into that category.
- Fewer manual steps to “make it fit” when a pass isn’t an exact match for tickets or transit.
How you’ll likely add items into the category
- Providers may start adding more barcode-based cards into Wallet-ready formats.
- Users may be able to scan barcodes/QR codes and have the pass stored into a more appropriate general bucket.
- Existing passes might re-categorize without you doing anything—depending on how Wallet migrates data.
Managing passes: organization, notifications, and sharing
Once you have multiple entries, the day-to-day experience matters more than the initial add flow.
Sort and find faster
- Pin your most-used cards (if your Wallet version supports pinning).
- Use search within Wallet (if present in your app build).
- Keep providers consistent—many passes share similar naming patterns, which helps when you’re scanning quickly.
Update timing and freshness
Some passes (especially offers) expire or refresh frequently. When a pass shows an outdated code or incorrect details, treat it like a “stale” card and re-add it from the provider source.

Not all passes are shareable and some may be tied to a specific account. If you see limited sharing options, it’s usually a provider policy or token-bound pass format, not a Wallet bug.
Troubleshooting when passes won’t show or won’t activate
If Everything else doesn’t appear yet, you still might hit problems adding passes right now. Here are the most common failure modes and what to try.
Problem: Google Wallet doesn’t show the new category
- Try a Wallet update: update Google Wallet from the app store and restart the app.
- Confirm account: ensure you’re logged into the expected Google account in Wallet.
- Wait for rollout: staged launches can leave devices unchanged for days or weeks.
Problem: Scanned code adds nothing or fails
- Clean the camera lens and try again in bright light.
- Make sure the code isn’t damaged, cropped, or too small.
- Check permissions: Camera must be allowed for Google Wallet.
- Retry from the provider’s official link, if available, instead of scanning a screenshot.
Problem: Pass shows, but the barcode won’t scan
- Use the freshest pass: some cards refresh daily; an older entry may show an outdated token.
- Check display mode: ensure Wallet is showing the live code screen, not a preview page.
- Try at the right time: certain passes only activate within a window (event check-in, membership verification hours).
Problem: You added a pass, but it’s missing from Wallet
- Search by the provider name inside Wallet.
- Force-close Google Wallet and reopen.
- Confirm you didn’t add the pass to a different Google account.
- If still missing, delete and re-add only after you’ve retrieved the provider’s original add link.
Problem: Wallet keeps crashing after adding passes
- Update iOS/Android to the latest stable version you can install.
- Update Google Wallet again (sometimes a particular build has a regression).
- As a last resort, remove and reinstall Google Wallet—then re-add the passes from provider links.
Security and privacy: what to verify
Passes often include account-linked tokens that shouldn’t be casually shared. Treat Everything else as a convenience feature with security implications.

Verify the pass origin
- Only add passes from official provider links or within the provider’s app.
- Be cautious with random barcode images received via messages—those may be outdated or tied to a different account.
Lock screen and device security
Make sure your phone is protected with a PIN, pattern, or biometrics. A lost phone shouldn’t expose membership barcodes to anyone who grabs it.
Alternatives if you can’t access Everything else passes yet
If the Everything else category hasn’t appeared on your device, you still have workable options today.
Use provider apps or their official Wallet links
Many loyalty and membership programs offer both an app and a Wallet add flow. Prefer the Wallet flow when available; it reduces the number of apps you must open at checkout.
Store cards in your phone’s secure notes (temporary workaround)
If you’re stuck with screenshots for now, keep them in an encrypted, access-controlled place (not a public photo album). This won’t be as seamless as Wallet, but it helps until the rollout hits your device.
Use barcode scanning via Wallet (where available)
Some builds allow scanning to create a pass-like entry even without a fully formatted provider pass. If you see scan-based add options in Google Wallet, use them rather than relying on screenshots.
FAQs
Will Everything else passes replace my existing loyalty cards in Google Wallet?
Most likely, it will act as a category—not a replacement. Existing passes may re-categorize, but your saved items should remain accessible after the feature appears.

Does Everything else passes work on iPhone and Android?
Google Wallet is available on both platforms, but rollouts can differ. If you don’t see the category on iPhone or Android, it may be a staged release or feature gating for your region.
Can I add a loyalty barcode if I only have a screenshot?
It depends on whether Wallet can recognize and authenticate the code. In many cases, scanning a screenshot is less reliable than using an official Add to Google Wallet link from the provider.
Why does my pass scan sometimes and fail other times?
Token-based passes can refresh. If a code won’t scan, try opening the pass again, wait a moment, or re-add it from the provider’s latest link.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhat happens if the Everything else pass expires?
Expired passes typically stop working for scanning. You’ll need to get a refreshed card or re-add it from the provider, especially for time-limited offers.
Bottom Line
Google Wallet’s rumored Everything else passes are aimed at one thing: putting more of your real-world codes—loyalty, memberships, and other barcodes—into a single, reliable place that works when you need it.
When the feature rolls out on your device, update Google Wallet, verify you’re signed into the right account, and use official provider add links whenever possible to avoid stale codes.
