Update and re-issue scenarios
When your physical passport/state ID changes (renewal, replacement, expired validity), your digital credential may require re-issuance. If Wallet warns about an approaching expiration, don’t ignore it—some verifiers reject expired credentials.
Remove a document (and what happens to access)
- Open Google Wallet.
- Tap the digital ID card/pass.
- Choose the option to Remove or Delete.
- Confirm the removal prompt.
After removal, the credential can’t be presented until you add it again through the verification flow.

Why don’t I see digital UK passport or state ID options in Google Wallet?
Most commonly, it’s because your account/device isn’t eligible yet, the rollout isn’t enabled for your region, or your Wallet app/OS is out of date. Update Google Wallet, confirm device security is enabled, and check that your region settings match the UK.

Will my digital passport work everywhere a passport is checked?
No. Digital credentials typically work only with verifiers that support that credential type. For travel and strict checks, keep your physical passport as a reliable fallback.
Do I need an internet connection to present my ID?
Some presentation flows can work with limited connectivity, but many scenarios perform best with a network connection. If a verifier requires verification, you may need data or Wi‑Fi.
What happens if my passport expires or gets replaced?
Your digital credential may become invalid or require re-issue. When Wallet prompts for updates, follow the in-app steps so the credential remains accepted by verifiers.
