For calls from only certain contacts, create a custom forwarding rule on a computer. Carrier call forwarding is a separate feature: it routes calls to your mobile number to Google Voice voicemail when the line is busy or unanswered.
Forward all Google Voice calls to a linked phone
Google Voice forwarding sends calls placed to your Google Voice number to one or more linked phones. You can manage linked numbers on the web or in the mobile app, though labels and menus can vary by platform and account.

Open Google Voice and go to Settings.

If the destination phone is not linked, add it and complete verification. On a computer, the path is Settings > Account > Linked numbers. In the app, look under Settings > Account > Devices and numbers. Google describes SMS verification for mobile numbers and a verification call for landlines.

Open Calls settings. On a computer, go to Settings > Calls. Under Call forwarding, turn on each linked number that should ring. In the app, use the incoming-call settings under Calls.

Call your Google Voice number and check that the selected destination rings. This confirms the route is enabled for your setup.
Google allows up to six linked numbers. A number already linked to a Google Voice number cannot be linked again, and linked-number forwarding is unavailable to SIP Link users. Turning off a forwarding option stops that phone from ringing but does not remove the number from your account; unlink it separately in Account settings if that is what you intend. Forward calls from selected contacts
Use a custom call-forwarding rule when only particular callers should go to another phone or to voicemail. Google requires a computer to create, edit, or delete these rules.

Under Custom call forwarding, select Create a rule.

Choose the contact or contact group, then select what should happen to those calls. To forward them, choose Forward calls and select one or more linked numbers. You can also route calls to voicemail, choose a greeting for unanswered calls, or screen calls.

Save the rule. If a contact changes phone numbers, update the rule so it continues to match the intended caller.

When more than one rule matches, Google applies only the first matching rule in the displayed order. Reorder rules if a more specific rule should take precedence. The app may show existing rules, but rule creation, editing, and deletion are done at voice.google.com. Google Voice Help: Use custom call forwarding with Google Voice.

Send calls to your mobile number to Google Voice voicemail
This is the reverse of forwarding Google Voice calls to a phone. Conditional call forwarding is configured with your mobile carrier so calls made to your carrier number can go to your Google Voice voicemail when the line is busy or unanswered. The carrier controls the feature and its commands.

Ask your carrier for its current conditional call-forwarding instructions and whether your plan supports the feature. Codes differ by carrier, and some reseller or subsidiary plans may not support it.

Use your Google Voice number as the forwarding destination when you configure the carrier line. If you want this behavior on multiple linked phones, Google says to configure conditional forwarding on each number.

To restore the carrier’s voicemail handling, disable conditional forwarding using your carrier’s instructions.

Do not assume a code found for another carrier or plan will work for your line. Google directs users to their mobile provider for accurate commands. Google Voice Help: Send your mobile phone calls to Google Voice voicemail.
Choose the right setting for your goal

Use Do Not Disturb if you do not want calls to ring
If you want quiet rather than another phone to ring, turn on Do Not Disturb in Google Voice. It sends incoming calls to voicemail. Google also documents options to schedule it outside working hours or while you are out of office based on Google Calendar. This does not forward calls to a linked phone. Google Voice Help: Change your availability and Do Not Disturb settings.
Can Google Voice forward calls to an automated phone system?
No. Google says forwarding calls from a Google Voice number to an automated system is unsupported. If you need an auto attendant, Google points to Google Workspace; the cited help page does not specify eligibility, setup requirements, or pricing. Google Voice Help: Set up your phone to make & receive Google Voice calls.
Troubleshoot calls that do not reach the destination

A linked phone does not ring: Confirm that its number is verified and that its call-forwarding toggle is enabled. Adding a number and enabling it to ring are separate steps.

A contact rule sends the call to the wrong place: Check whether an earlier rule also matches the caller, then adjust the order. Confirm the contact’s current phone number is included in the rule.

Carrier calls still go to carrier voicemail: Check the conditional-forwarding setup with your provider. Carrier support and commands vary by plan.

You use SIP Link: Google’s linked-number setup documentation says this feature is not available to SIP Link users. For a managed business configuration, ask your administrator about the available routing options.
