The key combinations vary by platform, so use the column for your device rather than swapping every Ctrl for ⌘. Google documents what each shortcut does, but does not quantify time saved; the practical benefit is fewer trips to menus for actions you repeat.
Key: “PC” means the Windows shortcuts in Google’s reference. ChromeOS shares many PC combinations but has distinct mappings for some navigation commands, shown separately below. MacBook-specific alternatives are identified where Google lists them.

Everyday Google Sheets shortcuts
Use these for common edits, searches, and selections. For fill commands, select the source cell and the destination range as needed before applying the shortcut.

Using fill shortcuts
For Fill down or Fill right, select the cell containing the content or formula and the cells to fill, then press the relevant shortcut. Fill selected range applies the entry in the active cell across the selected range.

Formatting, links, and date or time entry
These commands apply to the selected cell or range. Currency and percentage formatting use Ctrl on both Windows and Mac in Google’s shortcut tables.

Google lists regional alternatives for inserting the date and time for Portugal, Italy, Germany, and Spain: Ctrl + Shift + D for the date and Ctrl + Shift + H for the time in both its PC and Mac listings. Keyboard and locale differences can affect whether a shortcut works.

Navigate and manage sheets, rows, and formulas
Navigation mappings differ most across platforms. ChromeOS uses the Search key in the beginning/end and sheet-switching combinations; on Mac, some commands require Fn.

To insert rows above, select the row or rows first. To unhide a row, select the rows on either side of the hidden row, then use the shortcut.

Find shortcuts and commands from inside Sheets
Google Sheets provides a built-in shortcut list and a command search:
- Open the keyboard-shortcut list: Ctrl + / on Windows or ChromeOS; ⌘ + / on Mac.
- Open Tool finder: Alt + / on Windows or ChromeOS; Option + / on Mac. Search for a command by name when you do not know its shortcut.
Google notes: “Some shortcuts might not work for all languages or keyboards.” If a combination fails, check the in-product shortcut list for your keyboard and locale. Google also says Sheets changes are saved automatically in Drive; a save shortcut is not required.

Build a small shortcut habit
Start with a few actions you already repeat, such as Find, paste values only, Fill down, or formatting. Keep the built-in shortcut list available while practicing; add another command when the first few feel familiar. The usefulness comes from matching shortcuts to your own recurring work, not from memorizing all 30 at once.
