The increase is steep for a midrange phone, and Google had not publicly explained it in coverage published on October 2. The $599 listing is time-sensitive; check the live price before buying.
What changed in the Pixel 10a’s price?
Google announced the Pixel 10a on February 18, 2026, at a US starting price of $499, with availability beginning March 5. Its current US specifications page lists the phone “From $599.” On October 2, 9to5Google reported that the 128GB model was now $599 and the 256GB model $699—$100 more than their respective launch prices.
The launch price and date come from Google’s February announcement; the current “From $599” listing appears on Google’s US specifications page. The dated configuration prices and reported increase were covered by 9to5Google on October 2.
How do prices differ outside the US?
Reports on October 2 put the current Google Store prices at C$849 in Canada, £599 in the UK, and €649 in Europe. These are regional prices, not currency conversions of the US price, so the US $100 increase should not be applied to every market.

Android Authority compared the Canadian and UK prices with archived listings from shortly before October 2: C$529 and £429, respectively. Those earlier prices were already below launch pricing, which makes a simple comparison against launch prices misleading. See Android Authority’s October 2 report for that regional context. Prices and availability can change.
Has Google explained the increase?
Not in the October 2 coverage cited here. Reporters discussed memory and component costs as possible explanations, but Google had not confirmed a reason. The Pixel 11’s timing or broader component-cost trends should not be treated as the cause of this particular price change without direct confirmation.

What does the Pixel 10a offer at $599?
Google lists a 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display with 1080 × 2424 resolution and a 60–120Hz refresh rate, a Tensor G4 processor, Titan M2 security coprocessor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage. The typical battery capacity is 5,100mAh. It supports wireless charging and wired fast charging; Google says up to 30W wired charging uses a separately sold 45W USB-C PPS charger.
The rear camera system pairs a 48MP wide camera with a 13MP ultrawide. Google also promises seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates, counted from the phone’s first availability on the Google Store in the US. That long support window may matter to someone keeping a phone for years, but it does not remove the immediate $100 price difference or make the phone the right value for every buyer.

Google advertises IP68 water and dust protection and Gorilla Glass 7i. Its IP68 qualification matters: the device is designed to meet IEC 60529 when it leaves the factory, but is not water- or dust-proof. Resistance can diminish through wear, repair, disassembly, or damage, and liquid damage voids the warranty. Full specifications and qualifications are on Google’s Pixel 10a specifications page.

The price rise makes the buying decision harder, but the evidence here does not establish that a competing phone is a better deal. Before choosing, compare current unlocked prices for the 128GB Pixel 10a and alternatives, then weigh software-support length, camera priorities, performance, storage, battery and charging needs, and ecosystem preference. Promotions and trade-ins can change what you actually pay, so compare the price at checkout rather than relying on a headline figure.

Google Product Manager Laura Kastilani described the phone at launch as packing “core Pixel experiences into a sleek, durable design for just $499.” That was a February launch statement, not the current US price; the quoted $499 is the original starting price.
