Why your phone may not receive an update right away
A support commitment describes how long Google plans to provide updates, not when every device receives each release. Google says rollouts are gradual, vary by carrier and device, and may take a few weeks to reach a phone. Its policy page also describes Pixel updates as including new features, security enhancements, OS updates, bug fixes, and more; the specific five- or seven-year commitment is for OS and security updates.
