The Pixel 9a is the better fit if you want a smaller phone, wireless charging and Google’s longer stated update commitment. The Nothing Phone (4a) makes more sense if you prefer a much larger, high-refresh-rate screen and a dedicated periscope camera. There is no reliable single price gap to quote: the available listings are for different countries and configurations.

The specifications below come primarily from the cited comparison listing; camera and software details are attributed to Google or the named reviewer. Regional versions and listings can differ, so check the manufacturer’s local specifications before buying.

Display, processor, charging and protection ratings are from the Gadgets 360 comparison. Google’s camera and support details are on its Pixel 9a availability announcement and US specifications page. Nothing’s camera configuration and software-support figures are from TechRadar’s review. The stated support periods come from different sources, and their counting conventions are not confirmed to match.

Which phone has the better screen and size?

The Nothing Phone (4a) is the larger-screen option: the comparison lists a 6.78-inch display at 2720 × 1224 and 120Hz. The Pixel 9a’s listed display is 6.30 inches at 1080 × 2424. Choose Nothing if a larger viewing area and the listed faster refresh rate matter most; choose Pixel if you would rather carry a smaller phone. These figures describe specifications, not a direct assessment of display quality.

How do their cameras differ?

The Pixel 9a has two rear cameras, a 48MP main and a 13MP ultrawide, according to Google. Nothing advertises three cameras and up to 70x zoom; TechRadar identifies a 50MP main, 8MP ultrawide and 50MP periscope camera. The periscope gives Nothing a dedicated zoom-oriented camera, while the Pixel uses a dual-camera setup.

Camera counts, megapixels and a vendor’s zoom multiplier do not establish which phone takes better pictures. TechRadar’s reviewer described the Nothing’s output as relatively clear but not especially detailed or color-accurate. That is a reviewer observation, not a guarantee for every scene or user; the available evidence does not establish a controlled, head-to-head camera winner.

What are the charging, durability and support trade-offs?

  • Charging: The comparison lists wireless charging for the Pixel 9a and 50W wired charging, but no wireless charging, for Nothing Phone (4a). Prefer Pixel if charging without a cable matters; Nothing’s listed wired charging rate may appeal if you prioritize wired charging speed.
  • Water and dust: The same comparison lists IP68 for Pixel and IP64 for Nothing. These ratings are secondary-source figures; confirm the rating for the exact regional model with its manufacturer.
  • Updates: Google states seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for Pixel 9a. TechRadar reports three years of OS updates and six years of security updates for Nothing Phone (4a). The sources do not establish identical start-date rules, so treat the periods as each source describes them rather than as perfectly matched guarantees.

The Nothing battery-capacity figures also conflict: Gadgets 360 lists 5,400mAh, while TechRadar lists 5,080mAh. Because the cited sources disagree, verify the regional manufacturer specification rather than treating either number as settled.

What is the price difference?

The available listings do not support a like-for-like price-gap calculation. Google’s US Store page displays Pixel 9a from $499, while Nothing’s UK product page displays £379 for the white 8GB/128GB Phone (4a). These are different countries, currencies and price contexts, not comparable offers. Google’s $499 figure was also the stated US price in its April 10, 2025 availability announcement; the current Store listing may change. Nothing’s UK price is a live listing and may change.

For an actual comparison, check current prices in your country for the same storage tier, include any taxes or retailer discounts, and compare the same purchase conditions. The Nothing page’s other configurations are not established by the cited listing, so do not assume the £379 price applies to every version. Which one should you choose?

  • Choose Pixel 9a if you want the smaller listed display, wireless charging, IP68 as listed in the comparison, or Google’s longer stated update term.
  • Choose Nothing Phone (4a) if you want the larger 6.78-inch 120Hz-listed screen, a periscope camera, or 50W wired charging as listed.
  • Compare both local offers before deciding if price is the deciding factor: match country, storage and seller rather than comparing the US Pixel listing with the UK Nothing listing.

Performance is not settled by the processor names alone. TechRadar’s reviewer said demanding games may require reduced graphics settings on the Phone (4a); treat that as a review observation rather than a universal result.
