Verdict: Fido’s Payment Program is a genuine 0% financing option that can put eligible phones at CAD $0 down. However, the available public evidence does not independently confirm a currently orderable Canadian Google Pixel 8 at $0 down. Treat any Pixel 8 advertisement as unverified until Fido checkout shows the exact model, storage, condition, price, stock, plan, credits and agreement terms.
What Fido’s “CAD $0 cash down” actually means
Fido says approved customers with an eligible postpaid plan can finance most devices over 24 months at 0% interest through its Payment Program. Some devices or credit profiles require a down payment.
$0 down is an upfront-payment statement, not a claim that the phone is free. The financed device balance is divided into monthly payments. Taxes may also be financed; taxes on any required down payment are payable at purchase. Your bill can additionally include the Fido plan, taxes, setup or shipping charges, protection and other add-ons.
Fido’s general plans page advertises phones starting at $0 down, but that message does not establish a Pixel 8-specific promotion.

How the monthly device payment is calculated
Once a live quote exists, use:
Monthly device payment = (financed device price + financed taxes − applicable promotional credits) ÷ 24
Do not insert a guessed Pixel 8 price. If a listing shows a monthly credit, verify whether it reduces the device principal, the wireless portion of the bill, or both. Those treatments produce different 24-month totals.
Is a current Fido Pixel 8 offer verified?
The financing program is real; a current Pixel 8 offer is not established by the available public listing evidence. No verified model-specific Canadian price, storage selection, stock status or promotional-credit amount is available here.

- an expired promotion from 2023 or 2024;
- an offer for the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a or another Pixel model; or
- a listing for clearance, certified pre-owned or refurbished stock rather than a new phone.

Eligibility and plan restrictions
- You need an eligible Fido postpaid mobile plan.
- Fido must approve the account after a credit assessment.
- Down-payment requirements can vary by device and credit result.
- New and existing customers may qualify, subject to those checks.
- Financing tiers can affect promotional credits and whether you may move to another plan before the device is paid off; see Fido’s financing-tier explanation.
Fido also says a specialist-assisted purchase may incur a $40 device setup charge, while a self-serve online order may incur $9 shipping. These are possibilities, not automatic Pixel 8 charges; confirm the amount on your checkout summary.
Calculate the real 24-month cost
Compare the entire commitment, not the advertised device payment. Record each item before accepting the agreement.

For a hypothetical example only, a $600 financed device balance with no credits would be $25 per month before taxes and plan charges ($600 ÷ 24). That is not a quoted Pixel 8 price.

Fido’s prices are in Canadian dollars under its store policy. Do not convert a US listing into a Canadian deal: Google’s retrieved refurbished Pixel 8 page displays US-dollar pricing, not a Canadian quote.
What happens after 24 months?
Fido states that the device is paid in full after 24 months and the Payment Program charge ends. The wireless plan and other services continue. Check the specific promotion for credits that stop early, trade-in requirements, return obligations or a residual balance; $0 down does not make those conditions disappear.
Cancellation, plan changes and upgrades
According to Fido’s Payment Program terms, the outstanding device balance can become payable if you:
- cancel Fido service, including cancellation for non-payment;
- transfer service to another Fido account or provider;
- upgrade to another phone under a new Payment Program Agreement; or
- switch to a plan that is not eligible for the program.
If you upgrade while an existing device balance remains, Fido says that balance is charged on the next bill. A promotional credit may also stop when the original agreement ends.

Returns and device condition
Fido’s general policy provides a 15-day return framework, but the way the period is calculated can differ by purchase channel and by the wording in the applicable agreement. Follow the deadline in your order confirmation and contact Fido promptly rather than relying on a generic activation date.
Returns generally require the phone to be in original or like-new condition with its accessories and packaging. Physical or moisture damage, passwords and account locks can disqualify it. The Pixel 8 remains a capable compact Android phone, although it is no longer Google’s newest generation. Google lists a 6.2-inch OLED Actua display with a 60–120 Hz refresh rate, Tensor G3, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB or 256 GB storage, 50 MP wide and 12 MP ultrawide cameras, IP68 resistance, wireless charging and 4K video recording in its official specifications.
Google’s policy provides seven years of operating-system, security and Feature Drop updates from the device’s initial Google Store availability date. Because the Pixel 8 first became available in 2023, support should run into approximately 2030, subject to Google’s stated policy and the exact availability date. That is measured from launch, not from the day you buy the phone.

The practical 2026 questions are battery condition, performance against newer Pixels, remaining storage and whether a carrier-financed price beats an unlocked or refurbished unit. A new old-stock phone and a refurbished phone can have very different battery and warranty expectations.

Fido financing is most sensible when you already want its plan, will probably stay for the full 24 months, and the written device-plus-service total is competitive. Buying unlocked or refurbished is usually the better fit if you may switch carriers, need a cheaper BYOD plan, want to keep your existing phone, or can buy the handset for less without a long service commitment.
Checklist before you order
- Confirm the product name says Pixel 8, not Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a or another model.
- Confirm 128 GB or 256 GB storage, colour and the product identifier.
- Check whether the unit is new, clearance, certified pre-owned or refurbished.
- Save the displayed device price before credits.
- Save the monthly device payment and confirm the 24-payment term.
- Confirm the down payment and taxes due today.
- Write down the required plan price, data allowance and payment-discount conditions.
- Check for the $40 setup fee, $9 shipping fee, activation fee or upgrade fee.
- Read every trade-in, promotional-credit and plan-eligibility condition.
- Calculate the 24-month total for plan plus device, taxes and one-time charges.
- Read the cancellation, upgrade and plan-change payoff clauses.
- Save screenshots, the financing agreement and order confirmation.
- Confirm stock and delivery timing before cancelling another service or device.
- Do not proceed until the final checkout identifies the exact model and total payable.
Bottom line
Fido’s $0-down Payment Program is legitimate financing, not a free Pixel 8. As of the latest evidence available for August 2026, a live Canadian Fido Pixel 8 offer, price and stock position remain unverified. Order only when Fido’s checkout supplies a written model-specific quote and the full 24-month total works better for you than an unlocked or refurbished alternative.
