Android Authority’s test found faster downloads and better 5G retention in some locations, along with lower battery use during a specific cellular video-streaming test. Upload speeds went the other way. The phone’s broader appeal rests on its camera, compact premium design and Google software, while demanding gaming and mixed heavy-use battery results remain tradeoffs.
Did Google fix the Pixel’s modem problem?
In Android Authority’s comparison, Sanuj Bhatia tested the Pixel 11 Pro’s new MediaTek modem against the Pixel 10 Pro. The newer phone downloaded faster indoors and outdoors, and retained a 5G connection in some places where the older model fell back to 4G. That points to a real improvement in the situations tested, rather than proof that every Pixel 11 Pro will outperform every Pixel 10 Pro on every carrier. Android Authority’s comparison is an individual test; network, signal conditions, workload, software and device variation can all change results.

The same comparison included a matched 30-minute YouTube test over cellular, streaming 1080p/60fps HDR video. The Pixel 11 Pro dropped from 66% to 63% battery, a 3-percentage-point decrease; the Pixel 10 Pro went from 61% to 56%, a 5-point decrease. This is a result from one test, not a general battery statistic or a prediction of all-day endurance.
There was a notable counterpoint: Android Authority found upload speeds were worse on the newer phone. Taken together, the test supports a qualified verdict: Google improved cellular downloads, 5G retention in some tested locations and streaming efficiency, but did not establish a complete fix for all modem-related problems.

What stands out about the cameras?
The rear system pairs a 50-megapixel main camera with a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor, according to WIRED’s review. The telephoto camera is a particular strength at 5x, and the reviewer praised Portrait mode’s more convincing handling of hair. Google says the Tensor G6 image signal processor helps low-light photography, while WIRED reported a shorter wait for low-light shots. Moving subjects can still blur, so better low-light processing is not a guarantee of a sharp frame in every situation. WIRED’s review describes the results and limitations.
What 120x Pro Zoom does—and does not—mean
Google advertises up to 120x Pro Zoom, but that figure should not be read as 120x optical magnification. WIRED reports that beyond 30x the phone uses AI-generated pixels to fill in detail, and says it can be difficult to keep the camera steady at such high magnifications. Treat 120x as a computational zoom feature for particular situations, not a promise of native optical detail. Google’s Pixel 11 Pro specifications list the feature.

How long does the battery last?
Reviewers’ battery impressions differ because their workloads and testing conditions differ. They are useful as examples of what distinct patterns of use can feel like, not as directly comparable lab results.

|---|---|---|
| WIRED, 2026 | About four hours of screen-on time before reaching 20%, during a demanding mix of cellular downloads, Google Maps and many photographs. | The reviewer expected average users to get through a day, but said power users would need a top-up. Source |
| The Guardian, 2026 | Just shy of two days, with about seven hours of active screen use across mixed Wi-Fi and 5G browsing, messaging and photography. | A different workload and review experience, not a result directly comparable with WIRED’s. Source |
| Google’s estimate, 2026 | 30+ hours of battery life. | This is the manufacturer’s estimate, not an independent test result. Source |
For a heavy user, the practical question is whether the phone’s endurance suits the particular combination of screen time, cellular use, navigation, camera use and gaming. The reports do not support a single universal runtime figure.

Charging and wireless compatibility
TechRadar lists a 4,850mAh battery and up to 30W wired charging. In its charging test, using a 45W adapter with Extreme Charging enabled, the phone reached 25% after 15 minutes and 86% after an hour. With that mode disabled, it reached 24% after 15 minutes and 71% after an hour. These are TechRadar’s test results under those stated conditions; another charger, setup or use pattern may produce different results. See TechRadar’s review and test details.
Google says the phone has built-in Pixelsnap and supports Qi2.2 wireless charging at up to 25W. Check that a charger or case explicitly lists Pixel 11 Pro compatibility before buying; support for a related Pixel model alone does not establish compatibility. Google’s specifications

Is the Pixel 11 Pro fast enough?
Google calls Tensor G6 its fastest chip yet and describes improvements in browsing, app launches and on-device AI. Those are manufacturer claims, not independently established benchmark results. In everyday use, The Guardian found the phone snappy, but said it could not match top Qualcomm or Apple chips for games. WIRED also judged performance in demanding games unimpressive, and TechRadar reported that competing premium phones scored higher in Geekbench 6 and 3DMark. The evidence points to a phone well suited to ordinary tasks, but not a leading pick for demanding mobile gaming.
What else is new, and is it a meaningful upgrade?
Google says the display reaches up to 3,600 nits peak brightness and has more than double the previous generation’s scratch resistance. These are manufacturer claims rather than independent measurements in the reviews described here. Google also identifies the Tensor G6 as an upgrade for everyday performance and on-device AI. Google lists these specifications and claims.
Best Value
- Google Pixel’s iconic design meets the latest evolution of the Pixel Camera on the new Pixel 11; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can stay perfectly present[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Sleek, solid, and built to last: Pixel 11 has the slimmest camera bar yet in its class, a smooth satin back, and ultra-durable glass and IP68 water and dust protection, so it’s intentionally built to stay strong for years[3,4]
- Long battery life: With 30+ hours of reliable power and upgraded wireless charging, your Google Pixel 11 can charge 25% faster than before[5,6]; it even powers up to 55% in about 30 minutes with ultra-fast wired charging[7]
- The latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera: Take super crisp closeups with an upgraded 30x Super Zoom[3]; Night Sight takes clear photos, portraits, and panos in low-light settings
For Pixel 10 Pro owners, the modem improvement is relevant if the older phone’s cellular performance has been a pain point, but it is not evidence of a dramatic all-around leap. The Pixel 11 Pro’s strongest reasons to choose it are the flexible camera system, premium compact format and Google software; its processor is not a top-tier gaming choice, and battery experience varies substantially with workload.
Who should buy the Pixel 11 Pro?
It makes sense if you want
- A compact premium Android phone with a capable camera system, especially a strong 5x telephoto camera and improved portrait processing.
- Google software features and the prospect of better cellular downloads and 5G retention in the situations Android Authority tested.
- A phone for everyday use rather than top-end gaming performance.
Consider another option if you need
- Consistently exceptional battery life during heavy use; the reviews give mixed impressions under different workloads.
- The strongest performance in demanding games.
- A substantial generational change from a Pixel 10 Pro across design and performance, rather than a targeted improvement in cellular behavior and camera capabilities.
When comparing alternatives, look at camera output, reception on your own carrier, battery results under a workload similar to yours, gaming performance, screen size, storage and current price. Pricing, stock and regional configurations can change, so verify the exact model and seller before purchasing.
