Google has expanded Search profiles beyond the U.S. to India and Canada. Brazil is “rolling out soon,” with no date given. Search Engine Journal reported the news on October 6, 2026. It quoted Google Search product VP Robby Stein: “One of our most requested updates for Search profiles is live today: expanding to new countries!” A profile makes you easier to follow and find. Google says it does not directly change your Search ranking.
What is confirmed and what is not
Google’s June 2026 launch post said profiles would first launch in the U.S. The October 6 report says India and Canada are now live and Brazil is next. Two points remain open:

- Brazil timing. Stein gave no date, so none should be assumed.
- Eligibility in the new markets. Google’s claim guide lists a 10,000-follower minimum. The report says Stein did not clarify whether that threshold applies unchanged in India and Canada. Check the requirements shown when you start the claim flow.
What a Search profile is
A Search profile is a shareable profile page where creators and publishers collect their recent articles, videos and social posts. People can reach it in three ways:
- through the creator’s or publisher’s knowledge panel;
- by tapping the name on Discover, Google’s feed in the Google app;
- through a direct URL.
Users who follow a profile may be more likely to see that source’s content in Discover.

Claiming a profile may trigger a knowledge panel for eligible publishers and creators, but Google does not promise one. If a knowledge panel already exists, the profile can add an updated avatar, latest content and a direct profile link.
Who can claim a profile
Requirements in Google’s current claim guide
- The profile is for a creator, publisher or brand with a knowledge panel. Google may already have generated one automatically.
- If there is no knowledge panel, no profile is generated automatically. You can still create one if you meet the follower requirement.
- The follower requirement is at least 10,000 subscribers or followers on one connected platform: YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok.
- The Google Account owner must be 18 or older. Someone managing an under-18 creator’s profile can use an account owned by an adult.
As noted above, whether this threshold holds in India and Canada is not confirmed.

How to create one
- Go to profile.google.com/claim.
- Sign in with the Google Account you want tied to the profile. Google recommends the same account as your YouTube channel if you have one. A channel manager may also sign in.
- Authenticate at least one qualifying content platform.
- Review the details and finish the claim.
One Google Account can create up to ten separate profiles for eligible brands or identities.

Google may ask for extra identity information. Check the platform accounts already attached and request removal of any you do not control. Only one Google Account can claim a given profile. Access is tied to that account, and Google says it does not currently support multiple users or admin roles.

Managing the profile
- Content comes from linked platforms. Profiles do not host new posts directly. New social content can take 24–48 hours to appear, depending on indexing schedules and platform APIs.
- Review is required for some edits. Name and bio suggestions and requests to add a platform are reviewed. Reordering or removing platforms takes effect immediately. All edits are subject to Google’s community guidelines.
- Insights (beta). Qualifying accounts get top-performing content, clicks, impressions and audience reach by country. Only the claiming Google Account sees it. You can filter by date range and Google surface. Access depends on a minimum follower count on a linked platform.
Does a profile help your ranking?
No, not directly. Google’s help page says: “Creation of a Search profile doesn’t directly affect your content’s ranking on Google Search.” The possible upside is Discover exposure to people who follow you. That is not guaranteed traffic.
Optional website badge
Once your profile is claimed, you can add a Search profile badge to your site through Google Search Central’s guidance. The badge links to your profile by using your handle. Google recommends keeping it accessible and keeping the official logo assets unaltered. It is optional and not part of eligibility.

Is Brazil getting Search profiles?
Google says Brazil is next and rolling out soon, but it has given no specific date.
