Yes—but Google’s “make games with AI” story covers different tools, not one prompt that reliably produces a finished game. Project Genie generates interactive worlds to explore and remix; AI Studio and Antigravity support code-centered game creation. Which one fits depends on whether you want to explore a generated environment or build editable game software.
What Google’s AI game tools actually do
Project Genie generates interactive worlds
Project Genie is an experimental research prototype for creating, exploring and remixing interactive environments from text and images. Think of it as a way to shape and move through a generated world, rather than a conventional game engine that promises a complete, polished game from a single prompt.

Google’s Project Genie Help page currently says users need a personal Google Account, a Google AI Ultra membership where available, and must be at least 18. Availability depends on location; check the Help page for current access conditions. Google’s January 29, 2026 launch announcement initially described access for eligible Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States who were 18 or older, so the current Help page is the more relevant guide to present eligibility.

Google’s AI products page showcases Antigravity examples such as creating a playable 3D game and building games that improve themselves. These are code-centered workflows, distinct from Genie’s generated environments: they involve producing or editing software that can be played.
#1 Best Overall
- WHODUNIT WORD DEDUCTION: Solve the crime by connecting clever word clues to uncover who’s lying and who’s telling the truth. Every round challenges players to think fast, read the room, and catch the culprit.
- SOCIAL BLUFFING & ASSOCIATION: Players create convincing alibis using word associations while one secret criminal tries to blend in. The mix of bluffing and logic creates big laughs and memorable “aha!” moments.
- PERFECT PARTY GAME ENERGY: Designed for 4-8 players, Alibis shines at parties, game nights, and group gatherings. Everyone stays involved through discussion, debate, and accusation from start to finish.
- EASY TO LEARN, FAST TO PLAY: Simple rules get the game started in minutes while still delivering meaningful deduction. With a 20-30 minute playtime, it’s ideal for repeat plays and late-night rounds.
- HIGH REPLAY VALUE & VARIETY: A wide range of scenarios, clues, and word combinations ensure no two games feel the same. Endless variability keeps the mystery fresh and the accusations flying every time.
A more concrete example is Google Developers’ web-game codelab, updated September 9, 2026. It walks through prompting AI Studio Build Mode to create a web-based, turn-based game using Gemini, configuring Firestore persistence and Firebase Authentication, and deploying the result to Cloud Run. It documents one specific workflow—not a promise that any game can be built or launched automatically.
Gemini also helped power Google’s I/O mini-games
For its 2026 I/O Save the Date experience, Google described a set of five games and an unlockable Dino Pal. Gemini helped brainstorm and prototype ideas, generate some puzzle levels, offer contextual mini-golf tips and create adaptive personality traits for the virtual pet. Google made the games available in AI Studio for developers to inspect and remix. Kacey Fahey, a marketing manager on the experience, said the “Make Build Unlock” concept was designed to welcome casual players as well as developers who wanted to build their own. Which approach should you choose?
| Approach | What you make | How you work | Access or publishing details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Project Genie | Interactive environments generated from text and images | Create, explore and remix worlds; it is an experimental prototype | Google currently lists a personal Google Account, Google AI Ultra where available, and age 18 or older. The cited Genie materials do not describe a game deployment path. |
| AI Studio and Antigravity | Playable game software, including code-based web games | Generate or edit software and iterate on its implementation | Google’s codelab demonstrates Firestore, Firebase Authentication and deployment to Cloud Run for one web-game workflow; requirements for other projects vary. |
Choose Genie if your immediate goal is to create and explore a generated environment and you meet its access requirements. Choose a code-centered workflow if you want to shape game logic, data handling or a web deployment. The distinction matters: an interactive world is not the same deliverable as editable game code and a hosted application.
What AI can—and cannot—be assumed to deliver
Google’s examples show that AI can contribute to world generation, game prototypes, levels, hints and code. They do not establish that a prompt will yield a reliable, production-ready game, that the result will be error-free, or that AI tools replace conventional game engines and development work. The codelab itself describes a particular stack and deployment path; it should not be read as evidence that every game idea will work without testing, debugging and iteration.
