iMessage games are available through apps and extensions, including GamePigeon; Google Messages games are not confirmed as publicly available. An October 7, 2026 report found game references in a Google Messages open beta build, but that is evidence of work in progress—not a release announcement. RCS features such as read receipts and richer media are separate from games.
How iMessage games work
Apple supports games through iMessage apps and extensions that add experiences inside conversations. Apple describes those apps as a way for people to “share content, edit photos, play games, collaborate with friends, and more within a custom interface that you design.” Apps are available through the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and iMessage.

GamePigeon is one example: Apple’s App Store editorial page describes it as a collection of games played over iMessage. This is an app-based model; it does not mean that every iMessage user has GamePigeon or another specific game preinstalled. Apple’s iMessage app documentation and its App Store editorial page describe the model and example.
What is known about Google Messages games
Android Authority reported on October 7, 2026 that it found game-related references in the Google Messages open beta build messages.android_20261002_00_RC00.phone.openbeta_dynamic. The strings included Word Scramble, Chess, Cup Pong, Checkers, Pool, Basketball, Four in a Row, Crazy 8s, and Darts. The report described the feature as work in progress.

- Long-lasting battery + TurboPower charging. Power through day after day with a 5200mAh battery, then get hours of power in just minutes.****
Those references do not establish a public release, a final game list, access for every beta tester, or compatibility with other platforms. Treat them as a signal that Google may be developing games, not as titles you can count on playing in Google Messages. Android Authority’s report is the source for the beta-build finding.
Google’s general beta-testing guidance says beta testers may get experimental features before release and warns that beta versions may be unstable. It does not confirm that this particular games feature is enabled for testers.

RCS features do not mean games support
Google documents RCS as supporting features such as typing indicators, read receipts, messaging over mobile data or Wi-Fi, and high-resolution photo and file sharing. Its documentation also describes group-chat controls and says conversations with other Google Messages users can have end-to-end encryption. These are messaging capabilities, not evidence of a games catalog or game invitations. The cited RCS overview and RCS encryption information do not document games as an RCS feature.

RCS availability depends on region, carrier, device, provider, and participant settings. Google says RCS chats turn on only when all participants have RCS. Its documented end-to-end encryption condition is specifically communication with other Google Messages users; RCS alone does not guarantee identical games, iMessage extensions, or universal encryption.

Which option can you use?
- If you want to play an iMessage game: look for an iMessage app such as GamePigeon in the App Store. Availability of a particular app is distinct from iMessage itself.
- If you are waiting for games in Google Messages: the beta-code report does not confirm that the feature is released or accessible to you. Google’s general beta program can expose experimental features, but it is not proof that this feature has rolled out.
- If you are comparing cross-platform chats: check RCS support for the participants and devices involved, but do not assume it carries iMessage games or a common games catalog.
