Google’s UCP integration hub is a Merchant Center workspace for configuring and validating a Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) integration. It supports API testing in sandbox and production, endpoint checks, and implementation-status monitoring. Merchants should keep their product feeds, brand assets, return policies, and business contact details current; the hub does not replace that account information.
Availability is still limited and changing: Google describes a gradual U.S. rollout, with Australia and Canada expected to follow, and says native checkout is in early access for select merchants. Check Google’s current eligibility guidance before planning a launch.

What the UCP integration hub does
The hub brings several setup tasks into Merchant Center: account configuration, real-time API integration tests, checkout or cart endpoint validation, and implementation-status monitoring. Google’s UCP documentation describes the scope as applying to products sold in the United States, while the hub is gradually rolling out. Google says Australia and Canada are expected to follow early the next year; the documentation does not establish a fixed date for broader availability.

Using the hub does not itself make an integration live. Google says an integration must be approved before it can go live on AI Mode in Search and Gemini. Access, supported surfaces, and eligibility can change as Google rolls out features.

Which UCP integration path should a merchant choose?
Google documents three capability choices. Cart transfer and native checkout are distinct approaches; identity linking is an optional addition to native checkout. A merchant may choose either checkout path or both. Choosing both means completing both applicable validation checklists.
| Option | Where the shopper completes checkout | What it involves |
|---|---|---|
| Cart transfer | On the merchant’s site | Transfers a populated cart to the merchant using the Cart API. In UCP version 2026-04-08, the initial release supports cart creation and transfer through CreateCart; the merchant returns a continue_url to the populated cart. |
| Native checkout | On Google | Uses merchant endpoints to create, update, and complete checkout. Production validation also covers order-status webhooks and requires agreement to the UCP Program Addendum. |
| Identity linking | With native checkout | Optional OAuth 2.0 integration intended to support loyalty benefits and authenticated checkout. It is selectable only alongside native checkout. |
The integration guide explains the capability choices and validation steps. Cart transfer is not native checkout: Google says the initial Cart API release does not synchronize, update, or delete cart contents, and cart transfer does not require payment handlers or order lifecycles.

What to prepare before setup
- Keep Merchant Center product feeds, shipping and returns information, brand assets, and business contact details complete and current.
- Prepare dedicated API keys for the integration. Google’s guide specifies separate keys for staging and production.
- Publish a UCP profile at the merchant’s
/.well-known/ucppath. The profile is a publicly accessible JSON document; it must not require authentication. - Make sure the capabilities selected in Merchant Center match the capabilities declared in the published profile.
The profile declares the UCP versions, capabilities, service endpoints, payment configuration, and public keys that describe the integration. See Google’s UCP profile guidance for its format and requirements.

- Choose capabilities in Merchant Center. Select cart transfer, native checkout, or both. Select identity linking only if implementing native checkout.
- Implement UCP and publish the profile. Configure the required services and endpoints, then make the public profile available at
/.well-known/ucp. Keep its declared capabilities aligned with the Merchant Center selections. - Test in sandbox. Use the hub’s dedicated staging API key to simulate cart operations or native checkout actions and check the relevant endpoints.
- Validate in production. Use the production key, publish the profile, and complete the checklist for each selected capability. Native checkout validation includes order-status webhooks and agreement to the UCP Program Addendum.
- Wait for Google’s review. After the validation checklist is complete, Google Support reviews the integration and notifies the merchant whether it is live or requires further setup.
Google’s integration guide describes the implementation, sandbox-testing, and production-onboarding stages. Completing the technical checklist is part of onboarding, not a guarantee of approval.

What merchants need to change in Merchant Center
Google’s guidance is to maintain accurate product feeds and current shipping, return, brand, and business-contact information. For UCP itself, merchants use the hub to configure capabilities, test their APIs, and validate readiness. Listings need the native_commerce(checkout_eligibility) product attribute to display the Buy now button in the native checkout experience; Google currently describes that checkout as early access for select merchants.
For platform providers, Google describes its Merchant Center service-provider integration as an early pilot. The official material does not establish generally available referral terms, commissions, or a partner program.
