Yes. Google offers a dedicated Gemini app for iPhone and iPad through Apple’s App Store. It requires iOS 16 or later, is free to download, and supports text, voice, images, camera input and Gemini Live. Availability and some features depend on your country, language, account and age; Gemini also cannot directly set iPhone alarms or send SMS messages, according to its current App Store listing.
What the Gemini app does on iPhone
Google launched its dedicated iPhone app on November 14, 2024. The app brings the Gemini assistant to iOS rather than requiring you to use a browser. Google describes it as free to download.

You can type a prompt, speak to Gemini, upload an image, use the camera as input, generate images, and start a real-time voice conversation with Gemini Live. Where available, connected apps can link Gemini with services such as Google Workspace and YouTube Music. Feature access can differ by device, account, language, country and territory.

Google’s Gemini Apps availability information lists iOS 16 as the minimum for iPhone and iPad. The app is rolling out in more than 150 countries and supports multiple languages, but that does not mean every feature is available in every location. Check the App Store in your region for current availability.

Some work or school accounts need an eligible Gemini Apps plan or license. Accounts managed with Family Link cannot access the app. Age, account type, language and staged rollout can also affect feature access.
How to get started
- Install the app: Search for Google Gemini in the Apple App Store and confirm it is available in your region.
- Open Gemini: Sign in with a Google Account for saved activity and additional capabilities. Some interactions may be available while signed out, but account-dependent features will not be.
- Choose an input: Type in the prompt field, tap the microphone to speak, or use image and camera input where available. Google says a spoken prompt can use up to five minutes of microphone listening.
- Try Live or connected apps: Use the Live control for a real-time conversation. Connected services require the relevant feature and account access.
Gemini Live, camera and screen sharing
Gemini Live lets you have a real-time spoken conversation rather than exchanging only typed prompts. On May 20, 2025, Google announced camera and screen sharing for Gemini Live on iOS. Access may depend on rollout, account, language, age and location, so the controls may not appear for every user.

Before using Live, camera input or connected apps, review your Google Account activity controls and the iPhone permissions granted to Google. Google documents that location access is controlled through the Google app’s iPhone permissions.

Gemini is not a full replacement for Siri or an iOS automation tool. The current App Store listing says it cannot directly set alarms or send SMS messages. This is a product limitation stated in the listing and may change with future app updates.

Is Gemini for iPhone free?
The app is free to download, but Google also offers optional Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra upgrades shown in the App Store listing. Paid-plan features and limits can change; check the listing and your Google account’s plan details for current entitlements. Downloading the app does not itself mean you have subscribed to a paid plan.

Google’s Gemini Apps privacy information lists possible data categories including prompts, uploaded content, Live recordings and transcripts, generated content, connected-app and device information, location, and subscription information. The categories describe information that may be processed in the service; review Google’s current privacy disclosures and account activity controls to understand what applies to your use.
